OMG, I never knew this was how it works. I am now looking at my boot disk(Disk 0) using "Disk Management" and i see that i have a partition called "Healthy (Active, Recovery Partition) which is 24.22 GB. Unlike yours which is at the end, mine actually sits in between the OEM Partition and the OS (C:) Boot/Primary Partition. The larger Recovery partition size was probably due to the fact (I think) I initially bypass or ignore (setting up or installing) Dell Backup and Recovery on first boot. When i did get to setting up or installing DBAR...i had already created or install some file, program, or documents. I bought this Dell XPS8700 i7-4790 3.60GHZ running Windows 7 (didnt want Windows 8) sometime around Dec. 2014. First thing i did was tried to make the Windows 7 Repair disc (I didn't know that Dell Backup and Recovery App. serve a similar purpose). Anyways, upon first try to create the Windows 7 Repair disc it failed with an error. It was so frustrating to see a brand new computer and it fails to do something as simple as to create a Repair disc. I recalled wasting many precious moments on the internet reading links and finally found the answer. Dell shipped their system with a conflicting DBROverlaylcon.dll file which is part of their Dell Backup and Recovery software and causing Window 7 to fail to create the Repair Disc. The solution was to temporarily rename the dll. I thought OEM companies like Dell was suppose to provide value add; otherwise I'd go straight to Microsoft for the OS. Sheesh! Anyways, I was able to make the Repair disc(DVD). Now, I see on my Repair disc i had labeled it with the date 12/13/2014 and on my USB external disk i have a folder name Window7/Backup2014-12-13. In this folder are like 10 file (XML extensions) all name a0a49599-xxxx-xxx..., plus 3 other files. I will assume these are the System image backup files I created so that the Repair disc can use to restore my Windows 7 should my boot drive go south. I SURE HOPE THE REPAIR DISC IS BOOTABLE!! Now, i have 3 DVDs labeled and dated Factory Recovery Media for Windows 7, 8/13/2016 (Hehehe, 2 years later). I will assume these are the DVDs for which i should use to boot on (at least disc 1 of 3) and is used to restore my Pseudo system image from the Recovery Partition on my hard drive that i mentioned above? Now, if the boot drive has gone bad...i won't be able to restore using the Factory Recovery Media right? Is that what you meant by creating the Recovery Partition on your external drive or USB? Please let me know! Thanks for your video...it has been so helpful.

This system had a clean install of Windows 7 using a Dell Windows 7 Reinstallation DVD. Upon installation of Dell Backup and Recovery a pseudo Recovery Partition is made. This restores the system back to the time, Dell Backup and Recovery was installed (tools like Macurium Reflect are better for this).
If the system has had Windows 7 preinstalled by Dell, then it will have a Recovery Image from Factory and Dell Backup and Recovery will only use this image.

Thank you for your quick response. I did buy this PC directly from Dell. They were advertising Windows 8 at the time but i insisted on Windows 7 Pro. So, it came with Window 7 Pro. I came from a Unix background and then onto networking - QA engineer. Never had much time for Windows. lol I just want to know the worse case scenario whereby I need to get my system up and running again should my hard disk go bad.
So, many different names like: Rescue disc, Repair Disc, Recovery disc, Restore disc, OEM OS disc, Factory Recovery Media disc, and now you've mentioned Re-installation disc. What is a Re-installation disc? I just want a disc that has everything in it so i can restore the Windows 7 operating system back onto the drive or a new drive.
I miss the old days of a plain OS disc! Guess, i can go to Linux, but even then they got something like a funky Live Boot disc, etc. Anyways, sounds to me what you're saying is that what is in my recovery partition on my disk0 is the factory image and that is what my Recovery Media CDs will try to restore from. BUT, what if that disk0 hard disk goes bad and I need to put Windows 7 on a new hard drive? Where is the recovery media CD going to get the OS?

Okay in my guides there are differences in installation media:
      1. Installation Media for Clean Installation
The Dell Windows 7 Reinstallation DVD or .iso is Windows 7, Dell logos in system properties and Dell OEM System Locked Preinstallation only.
Windows 10 Installation Media is also available from Microsoft and will work with your Windows 7 OEM Key.
For this type of media all the system drivers need to be downloaded from Dell or Intel and Installed although Windows 10 will have most the drivers it needs inbuilt or automatically install them.
For more details in media for a clean installation see here:
      dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/windows-oem-faqs-and-downloads/
      2. A Factory Image, Including Drivers and Preinstalled Software
Names of these types of media changed with respect to time and version of Dell Backup and Recovery. We left feedback that this led to endless confusion and Dell took our feedback into account and they simplified the terminology.
The last version allows the creation of:
DVDs - Not Recommended these quite often have burning and/boot problems.
      USB Flash Drive (16-32 GB)
      External Hard Drive
Dell recommend the External Hard Drive then the USB Flash Drive then the DVDs although I prefer the Bootable USB.
For a factory image of the latest version see here:
      dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/dell-backup-and-recovery-1-8-1-71/
It's Windows 8.1 but the instructions are identical for Windows 7.

What are you trying to do? This video is for a clean install of Windows 7 and creates a pseudo recovery image. Dell Backup and Recovery installed on a system with factory settings should just update Dell Backup and Recovery and check the Factory Partition. If your installation is pretty old or has been Updated from Windows 7 to Windows 10 some OS files may be corrupt giving the error.
