    Great work Ron! Just finished my AUQ conversion in a Mk1 cabrio. Never knew about the drivehsaft notches, need to give this a look! I've got the lefty manifold and love the tidiness with the front mount 'same side' intercooler. Much neater than having boost pipes all over the engine bay!

      Good to know the same side boost pipes are possible in a mk1 then 😁 really hoping I can make that work for a clean bay! Thanks for watching 😎

      As factory the holes do go at the bottom, but you can put them 180degrees round which gives you better clearance with the engine cover and bonnet. Lowers the engine around 20mm, there are some pics of them both ways on the epytec site. Thanks for watching 😁

    enjoying this < fitted a 1.8t in my mk 1 last year , its a great swap , pretty sure you've pushed in both your engine mount bushes in upside down , the bolt hole should be at the bottom of the mount , yours are both at the top rotating them might help your rear mount line up

    • @SuperRon
      @SuperRon  6 месяцев назад +1

      Yes we do that on purpose to lower the engine so the cover doesn't touch the bonnet. We've done loads like this and isn't a problem. Thanks for watching 😁

    Would a top fill radiator do away with the header tank? Could mean a tidier bay

    • @SuperRon
      @SuperRon  6 месяцев назад +1

      It would yes for a full show car, but we have found they dont seem to run as cool and boil over when used in anger with just a top fill rad, and the owner still wants to race around so we advised keeping it 😁

    Hi Ron I've just purchased a MK1 caddy and I believe it as MK4 1.8/1.9 diesel fitted but original engine mount on the caddy pick up as been cut off I woundering if you now if I can get conversion engine mounts to fit the engine so I can weld the original mount back in place as the engine is abit twisted and sitting high be good to talk or call some how to see if I can get out of the pickle ? thanks Luke

    • @SuperRon
      @SuperRon  5 месяцев назад

      Epytec who made these mounts do mounts for all versions of vw engines and I'm pretty sure they do newer tdi's as well if you find out what you defiantly have. The factory mount on the chassis leg shouldn't be too hard to put back in if you get one off a donor, they're pretty distinct where they go if you look at pics of where the ridges and curves of the chassis leg are. Its hard to speak to epytec direct as they're in Germany, but retrofication have been very helpful to us in the UK: www.retrofication.co.uk/
