I've been using Ableton for more than a decade now, initially being excited about the idea of a DAW designed for live performances. After the transition from Live 9 to Live 10, the stability of the software declined considerabliy and has been turning more resource hungry with every version, whether on Mac or PC. I had Ableton crash on me on a multitude of devices during lives, and that ultimately killed my desire to use it. DAWs aren't all different these days, you can equalize any feature set with plugins.

I'm not in love with number 10 CC Control. And don't forget it. It's just a silly phase I'm goin' through.

One of the best walk-throughs on Live 12! Thanks!!!
One question though - does Live 12 display any indication that a track contains MIDI or audio takes? It's weird they've added the feature in 11, but it's impossible to see which tracks contain the takes and which don't. It's trial and error.

Curious how many people drop thru that use hardware? I’ll start with me 👋 but I’ll say I’m in the box most 📦🖤🐓

Funny reading the comments of everyone excited that Ableton just brought over a bunch of features from 2 versions ago in Bitwig. Still relying of Mel and devices versus sandboxing to help with those crashes. I tried to go back to Ableton so many times but when it crashes, I always get that weird feeling like “I own bitwig, what am I doing”. Guess I really like Fors and my other unique M4L devices, but as far as Ableton as a daw…. I’ll never hate it but dam those crashes. Yes, all software crashes but usually not enough to remember and worry about all the time like FL studio on OSX. Come to think of it, I can’t remember Logic Pro crashing either. I’m sure it happened, just don’t remember. Ableton, crashed on me 2 weeks ago, clean project with analog and a channel eq, few notes programmed in a clip, went to insert a note-CRASHED.

Studio One has been doing all of this since version 4, (5?).
Instead of giving all this new fluff, how about a completely recoded engine? I'm glad to see it still looks like Live 9, which in turn looks like it was made for Apple computers or Windows 3.1. Seriously, this should have been given to Live 11, and a completely new overhaul for this version 12. Seems more like an update than a new version.

ableton 12 DISSAPOINTING! . this should have been just update for 11. u can achieve all these things with free plugins. It needs WAY more LIVE features, live loop features etc. this is just a joke that this is 12 and not just update. where are features that actually make it LIVE ?
