OMG. Piano roll in Ableton Live 12 is a whole other level of greatness.
It's so great!
Oh wow man Live 12 is incredible! Music composition is kind of like becoming a little subtractively guided with all of these fantastic tools. It's like starting with a full block and just carving away at it and shaping it slowly into something you like! Very accessible!
Great vid btw ty, happy i stumbled accross your channel. I learnt a lot in a very short space, Subbed.❤
Definitely! The subtractive approach is really great with tools like these.
Thanks for watching and I'm so glad you learnt a lot! :D
Only 6 more days, this has so many quality of life features that it should be worth any headache.
All the little quality of life improvements are fantastic!
Great stuff thank you! I'm returning to writing again after a long break and found that I could barely remember anything about how Ableton worked which was pretty daunting, then exacerbated by the recent changes from 11 to 12. This particular video just helped me immensely so thank you - again!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching and I'm so glad it helped you out! ☺️
Cheers Matt
You're welcome! Thanks for watching. ☺️
Thank you again! I have spent the last 12 hours or so learning the new midi tools (and a few other things) in the piano roll and I am wowed! Capping the day with your video. Quality counts!
great video mate. I found this just when I needed it during my current project. Cheers!!
I love ableton 12 it’s fire 🔥

You're welcome! Thanks for watching. :)
sick, thanks for the tips!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching. :)
Ok this was it. Had to finally purchase the update 😄
Definitely my favourite feature! Enjoy the new update when it drops! 😁
Nice!
Thank you! :D
Bro, please, can you send a feedback to Ableton about including the "Bebop Major Scale" in the scale assistant?
I didn't even notice that there weren't any Bebop scales. Great pickup! Hopefully more scales will be added in the future.
This is not for me, but a) thanks for showing it off, it’s impressive stuff, and b) for many many others, this could be a total game changer!
So you don’t like change 😂😂
@@JR-lv3xg LOL!! Because a) noone does, and b) especially not RANDOM change :-)
Finally there is also an internal MIDI channel routing! If not, what's the point of the upgrade?
great one !! ableton 12 new features gone so far that videos like this one is helpfull to start dig in , thx
PS : your link "🎓 Check out my online course" seems it's not working correctly today as it leadsto a wix error page
Thank you for watching!
Yep, that link would have died just within the last few days. I'm about to go through a bit of a name change and website update. I've updated the link now though if you want more info! 😁
BTW, that’s a Rode Go mic you have attached to your t-shirt, right? Does the pop filter ”fluff” really make a difference with this placement? Thanks!
The fluff isn't so much a pop-filter as it is a wind-filter. It works very well in outdoor environments, but I just put it on indoors as well because it looks cool. 😂
@@matttinklermusic Gotcha! And I agree, it looks better than having just the black rectangle clipped to the collar - I went ahead and splurged for one of Rode’s lav mics that I use with my Go kit, and it’s pretty darn impressive for the money, altho not noticably better (audiowise) than the ”clip rectangle to collar” solution! Thanks for your reply and the excellent work you do with your videos!
Thank you! Yeah this one is the Wireless Pro. It comes with the lav mic as well but I find it easier to just use the transmitter as is because it sounds totally fine! 😁
Great Video! Cant wait for the new release to try it all out!? 😊
One day away
Trying to figure out how to create chord rhythms with the rhythm tool. Keeps moving all notes onto one note.
The rhythm tool is mainly good for programming drums, not so much chords, as you can only program a single note at a time. If you select notes, it will overwrite those notes with the newly generated rhythm on the selected note in the rhythm tool options.
my friend you think you can recreate the sausage fattner by dada life?🥰
I can give it a go!!
5:50 "option E" I tried alt E on windows and it doesn't do that. Can't figure out why. That's crazy this info isn't in the manual, I just read through it.
oh, it's control not alt, on windows. Great video how you laid it all out and explain this, was really helpful. moreso than the other videos that came up.
oh wait nevermind, still kind of confused about that part
Yeah the Windows key commands are a little different. I can't quite remember the actual commands off the top of my head for windows but I think that you would be able to replace "option" with "control" and "command" with "alt". I wasn't super aware of that when I recorded this video so I'm sorry I didn't include the correct Windows alternatives! It's all very confusing 😂
6:06 how do you do this in windows?
Figured it out, it's CTRL+E and then up/down arrow keys
You should also be able to hold down ctrl+E and click/drag up and down to do it too. :)
A week and 3 days till I can use…
Would be great to see shortcuts repeated on the screen while you are doing it and that huge room rever is so annoying
Totally agree with both criticisms! I rushed this one out and didn't have a good recording location, but I still thought it was worth sharing. :)
Why the image jerks in your video;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; I hope it isn't artistic::
It was probably a poor edit 😅 Can you tell me when the image jerks?
