Hi Matt, how can I transfer the (midi) notes of the sequencers as midi notes to the session or arrangement screen? and can I start the sequencer at a certain point in the arrangement? hope you can answer that, thanks! great video
Sending the MIDi to another track is the correct answer for recording! In order to start the sequencer at a certain point in the arrangement, I think there are some ways of manually triggering the different sequencers. I'll maybe try and get a proper video out about these sequencers at some point soon. :)
@@matttinklermusic thanks Matt. Yes found out about recording the midi on another track. Thought there might be a way to drag the midi track from the sequencer to a track, like you can on some other plugins, but there isn’t.
@barendtromp that would be a really awesome thing for them to implement! I think it might be a bit hard though because the sequencers can be quite probability-based, which means it would have to generate new MIDI every time you exported it.
@@matttinklermusic indeed , but just not 64 bars ... makes it still limited but you certainly can be very creative with them, always interesting to play with sequencers , the replace is actually very nice as before i needed to use a drum replacer or something similar
It's a bit hard to explain, but it basically sets whether or not that step will play a sound every certain number of loops. For example, if it's set to 2, that step will only play every 2 loops. If it's set to 3, it'll only play every 3 loops. With negative values, that step WONT play every certain number of loops, but will play the others.
Yep! Just set up a new MIDI track and set its input to the track with the sequencer on it, and make sure it's Post FX. Then you can just record on the new MIDI track. :)
You should be able to but I can't speak to how good the integration is as I haven't tried these with Push 3 yet. If you're on the fence about a Push 3, there is always the controller version that you can later upgrade to standalone. :)
EDIT: Ohhhh you have to download them at the beta forum, sorry if you said that in the vid I guess I wasn't paying attention I cannot freakin find these....are they in a pack or something? I'm in the newest 12.1b14 beta. Nice channel btw
Either it has to be updated or support might have to be dropped because the developer eventually got hired by ableton awhile ago (though maybe on a contractual basis) On the isotonik page for Clyphx Pro it says 12.1 not supported :/
Plays well @ .75 speed. Covers what the new sequencers/ buttons can do, but not really much application to music. Telling us that you don''t know stuff is not interesting.
Thanks for watching! This video was purely a first impressions, definitely not intended as a tutorial. Regardless, I'm glad it was still useful for you even a little. :)
@@matttinklermusic Anyway, do yourself a favour and have deep dive into Bitwig. I've always been a BT user and had to get Live for a few projects, it feels like getting out of a comfy bus and following a donkey through a muddy bog ;)
To be fair, they were put into the beta without much info surrounding them and have to be downloaded manually, so I thought that using the word 'secret' was fair. I also liked the alliteration. 😂
They are basically updates to existing sequencer devices across various different packs for sure, but I think that the way they're packaged up and function is actually pretty cool! It doesn't need to be new and innovative for it to be fun and cool, but if you don't like them then that's totally fine too! :)
These sequencers are all still in beta as far as I’m aware. You can download and install them as devices to use in Live 12.1 beta as of the time this video came out. I’m guessing once Live 12.1 goes public, they will either be a part of the core library, or maybe released as part of a separate Live Pack.
The Rhythmic Steps device is really awesome for creating some very unique and evolving drums, on a drum rack
100%!! I really like it 😁
Nice demo. This is cool. Not quite Electron level but got a bit of that creative sequencing mojo. Something Ableton really needed.
Agreed! Thanks for watching. :)
hey so how did you do that ""vel > cutoff" mapping??
I just had the velocity controlling the cutoff in Drift and then mapped a macro to the depth parameter of the modulation. :)
@@matttinklermusic maybe you can make a short video on this as I have no idea how to do that, and Im a very experienced user of Ableton!

Yeah they're really fun to play with! 😁
Always great & informative videos here, thanks!
Thank you for watching! :D
If you were confused on why you didn't hear the open hi hat, it was because the closed hi hat was used for both 2:30
That'd be why! It worked out anyway because I wanted to use the alt-feature. :)
Its already in live 12.1 just checked 🙂 , thanks for bringing this up

Is there a way to print the midi that's being generated? Or is the best way to route this out is to use the drum rack output routing?
You could set up a MIDI track to receive the MIDI input from the track the sequencer is on, post FX, and record to that track. :)
Yup. I was like FINALLY. Was fun messing with them. Will tinker more with them later.
They're very fun!
Why isn't it showing up on my 12.1.1 ?
You need to download the 'Sequencers' pack from the 'Packs' section in the browser. :)
Also, does anyone know what "condition" actually does??

@@matttinklermusic Thanks a bunch good sir! A real lifesaver!
Isn’t Step Arp pretty much an update to the existing ARP M4L device?
Yes 🙂
Yeah it is! :)
hey i have Love12 and m4l but i can't find Rhythmic Steps can you tell me where i can download it?
Hey!
The devices are currently only available in the beta program at the moment. :)
Can these be used to send to hardware synths?
Absolutely! Just put the 'External Instrument' device after the sequencer on a track and route that to your synth. ☺️
@@matttinklermusic Awesome this will make a fine addition to my collection
Can they be used with launchpad mk3?
I don't think they will have any kind of deep integration with the launchpad unfortunately
Love your high energy levels in every video. What's the secret?
Haha, thank you!
Honestly, I really just love talking about this stuff, and that translates to my energy levels. 😁
Can you access those sequencers from the push standalone ?
I hate laptops. But push 3 standalone seems powerful but very boring.

@@matttinklermusic I don't even see them in the Live 12 beta releases page, have they been taken down?
Anyone know why the Live 12 Betas seem to kill my Control Surface Scripts (at least ClyphX Pro)?
Is it a “beta thing”? Or is ClyphX Pro about to die?
I have no idea, sorry! I don't personally use ClyphX Pro. I'd potentially reach out to either Ableton Support or ClyphX support (or both) and ask.

Great idea to group Rhythmic Steps into an effects rack to cover all 16 notes/pads!
Glad you thought so! :D
