No joke, we see a big baddie about to eat our ass for breakfast, I'm like, "Ok, babe, get Sebille on that baddie's ass and Rupture Chicken him". Mmmmmk

    • @nondorian
      @nondorian 5 лет назад +71

      It was worded badly but that's kinda what you do. You should specialise in attributes like Dexterity, Strength or Intelligence and classes like hydrosophist or warfare, but inside those classes there are skill for all kinds of situations. Your warrior can throw a shield to attack at range and your mage can have a touch spell while both having a kind of healing. Everything is in the tooltips in the game so reading them carefully is the key to an effective build :)

    • @TheMNZOO
      @TheMNZOO 5 лет назад +36

      No the video is spot on. Don't be a jack of all trades in the skills (Huntsman, Scoundrel, etc.) but in terms of attack types (melee, ranged, etc.) WITHIN their skills you should have one of each to be well-rounded.

    • @wompoo7967
      @wompoo7967 5 лет назад +3

      Correct always focus on either magical or physical types (in either solo or group, unless you're playing one of the beginner difficulties) and enjoy the game... play as an all-rounder and be prepared to hit reload often, on a number of difficulty combinations... tactical or solo tactical all-rounders will fail more often than needed. A dedicated healer is possible but you'll need to be creative: summoner/buffer/debuffer/healer facetank away :P ... it can be a lot fun for an RP play through, Tactical or not.

    • @johnyshadow
      @johnyshadow 5 лет назад +2

      @Michael Mathers Use the "pawn" perk for free movement + the one that lets you avoid attacks of opportunity. (Duck duck goose?)
      Also, self-teleports. Rogues have one that doesn´t break stealth, and tactical retreat from Huntsman is amazing as it gives you haste. Or Phoenix dive if you have a few points in warfare (not a bad idea, as it increases all your physical damage).

    teleport teleport TELEPORT. it's saved my bacon dozens of times, so often that my main caster is still wearing an otherwise garbage pair of gauntlets because it gives her the ability and i somehow haven't come across an actual teleport skill book yet. my favorite use of it so far was teleporting an enemy into a locked cell so he couldn't get to us, then bringing him back out to rain hell down on him once the others were dead.

    1. keep the ALT button pressed every time you loot 2. if you know a battle is coming, pre-buff your party with the bedroll, and if you got it, Encourage, peace of mind. 3. if you are having problems getting out of Act 1, play Ifan and make sure he has cameleon and theivery. He can sneak out of Fort Joy immediately (level 1!) via the boat in the dungeons, meet up with Zaleskar and get the most OP weapon immediately. Only he can do this. The Shadow's Eye performs at level 6, will carry you to Driftwood.

    You missed the most important tip:
    PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR SURROUNDINGS AND THE OVERALL ENVIRONMENT.
    That should've been the first thing said, because this is a game where that actually matters. Water puddles acan be electrified. Oil barrels are explosive. Pools of blood can be a tool for damage or healing; Pools of ANYTHING can be gathered into empty flasks, used in summoning to give your minions specific qualities, or become pools of blood with a certain ability I believe. Mines exist. Objects can be used as weapons with the right abilities, such as teleport. Much more can be considered.
    The environment is your friend and if you're not taking advantage of it you're severely handicapping yourself. Always keep your surroundings in mind, inside and outside of battle.

    Hey dude,
    Very nice and informative video :)
    One big tipp you forgot:
    If you want to trade with a vendor increase your reputation with him first.
    Give the vendor with your bartender main Charakter some gold or useless items to watch the reputation rise.
    If you have 100 rep with a vendor (takes about 500g in the second act) the discount you'll get for skill books/weapons etc. Will be often about 300g/item (or higher!).
    This means, if you want to buy 5 1k gold items you give the vendor 500g in the first place and afterwards buy all 5 items for 700g/each ==> you spare 1500g by investing 500g!

    1. Yes, as a good player you should have a dedicated support, meaning you shouldn’t just heal with that character but damage buff, and increase/restore your parties armor. If you have 2 damage dealers (one ranged and one melee) and a dedicated tank (also tries to crowd control as much as possible), a support that makes sure every ally is alive and well is definitely okay.
    2. Saying that you shouldn’t specialize in pyro and should just get enough for the skills you need isn’t recommended, since usually those types of skills also increase your pyro damage.
    3.Every ally should have a “self teleport”, while the teleport spell is useful, a tank that has Phoenix Dive, has all the mobility he needs, as on his turn he should be able to knock down his target, as the tank should go near last so his CC i actually works, and doesn’t just tickle the enemies physical armor.

    1) You can actually try to sneak into battle and get a free hit. Utilize a spell or skill with more AP requirement so that it uses no AP whatsoever for that turn. You will still get your max AP when it does become your turn.
    2) If you want a boost at the start to your equipment and money, get the lucky charm characteristic. The amount of loot you'll find will definitely help, especially when you can sell the whole lot of them for good gold. Having a character with a good barter skill will help immensely too.
    3) Focusing your entire party on one particular type of damage is a good idea. Either a full party of physical damage dealers or magic damage dealers. This makes it more efficient to kill enemies as you will be able to quickly burn through their respective armors and start getting to HP.

Also teleport scrolls can crafted and can be used more than once in battle. With this you can move a lot of corpses and end a huge battle in one turn with mass corpse explosion. Action economy vs CC, armor vs status: As soon as you can get through at least one kind of an enemies' armor, you can start pasting nasty status effects all over their face, even making them lose their whole turn as often as not. But enemies can (and will) do this to you too, which is why its *super* important to have a wide range of status-cancelling moves spread among your party. Most important thing I learned playing this game.

    Bedroll is your best healing ability out of combat.
    When you get the boat, find the mirror, you can respect all you want expect tags (Act 2).
    Read tool tips and look at the environment.
    5% is a lot no matter what we are talking about (mostly for when playing on Tactician and failing three 95 % chance to hit in a row and that adding a point in a class usually gives 5 % damage).
    No need to spend more than 5 points in class to get ultimate spells as an example huntsman gets no damage benefit if you are on even ground you only get bonus damage benefit if you are on high ground (unless you are a mage you should max weapon type damage that you are using because they offer better benefit most of the time) most class support spells needs only 1-2 points to access them no need to spend more than that(Items helps big time in that case).
    Talking to people and animals (if you have pet pal) is useful and gives lots of infos and hints.
    Don't be discourage when you are using the crafting table try stuff you can have unexpected result. like with boots and nails that prevent you from slipping which makes your Hydrosophist a more enjoyable character when he freeze every surfaces.

  • @hideshisface1886
    @hideshisface1886 5 лет назад +51

    Ok, ok...
    - teleportation - teleport ranged enemy further away? HELL NO. The only thing that it does ultimately, is giving said enemy more shots at you. Teleport ranged enemy CLOSE to you, or, if you can't do this for some reason, teleport to the low ground, close to as many environmental hazards as possible. Also - don't forget, you can and you should use teleport to bunch enemies - making the susceptible to area of effect attacks.
    - don't have a dedicated healer - that is a decent enought advice but the explanation is not. The reason is simple - cooldowns. You also should not spam hydro everywhere. Most specialisations have some sort of healing - undead can heal using very abundant poisons, necro provides universal health steal, both hydro and huntsman have heals.
    You do not NEED all characters with heals - 2 is enough. If you need more, you are doing something wrong. Remember, you CAN'T reliably outheal the damage. Healing in battle is mostly a delaying action and a way to clear status effects.
    - Tip 5 and 6 appear contradictory - be ready for everything and specialise. They are NOT but this begs better explanation.
    Specialise - as in - don't spread yourself too thin - stick to specific type of damage. Magical or physical on one character and from one source. You do not want to pump both strength and finesse, or strength and intelligence.
    At the same time you do NOT want to overspecialise. Pretty much every character benefits from couple of points in metamorph and necro for example. Pretty much every class can benefit from skills such as 'spread your wings', 'haste', 'peace of mind' or 'adrenaline'. Every single heavy duty melee fighter will benefit from Geomancer and Necromancer - for skills that boost armour and life-steal from necro. Obviously pyro and geo complement one another, and so do hydro and aero.
    Learn synergies between playstyles and skills.
    - Also - dealing with everything - not precise enough. It implies that mixed party is the best option and it is not essentially true. It works, but full physical or magical parties are potentially more efficient as they have to deal only with one type of armour. Besides, there are multiple ways of dealing with foes, so being prepared could mean just about anything.
    This list also lacks the most important aspect - WATCH YOUR SURROUNDINGS. Unlike most RPGs, Divinity uses the scenery A LOT. not as chokepoint. Surfaces, placement of barrels, high grounds, smoke and clouds, it all matters in this game, often times more than direct skills of your characters. In fact, you can mitigate a lot of weaknesses by utilising the environment.
    Let's take water surface for example: you can electrify or freeze it. Simple, right? But you can do much more. Contaminate it for poison damage, then set it on fire to blow it up, then pour rain on it to create steam and electrify THAT. Instead of one or two damage types, you got 4 and potential, multiple status effects.

You save before a fight, after a fight, before a dialogue, after a dialogue, when entering an area, when leaving a area, taking a sip of water? Hit f5 (the quick save on PC). Answering an IM? Hit f5. Taking a second to scratch your head? Hit f5. Then hit f5 at random times in between all the times you're hitting f5.

    All of your characters need one level of scoundrel to get Adrenaline and Pawn. Action points are the most important resource in the game. Pawn preserves AP at the start of the fight versus Executioner which gives you AP usually after the outcome of the fight is decided. Adrenaline let's you get control of a fight a turn earlier which is huge.

    Teleportation deals a decent amount of physical damage and you can teleport people on top of each other to double said damage and also group the enemy for further AoE damage.
    If you want to deal physical damage, upgrade the warfare skill, since it enhances all physical damage, including from spells like teleport or corpse explosion.
    Is very important to be able to move around the battle, so a couple points in warfare scoundrel or huntsman is important for those teleport skills. In a pinch nether swap from aero can do the trick but it is kinda limited.
    Also do not underestimate the polymorph skill tree, there are valuable skills for almost every character, apotheosis and skin graft are amazing but also chicken claw, invisibility, and tentacle lash are very useful. Also if you do not want to spend points in warfare, huntsman or scoundrel for mobility skills ( in scoundrel, adrenaline is great, so just put a second point in scoundrel for also being able to teleport around) polymorph also have the fly ability, but it is slightly inefficient in AP, but useful nonetheless

    Teleport is an incredible skill to have, and it would be wise to not burn it too early. Most enemies have some kind of movement ability, and if you teleport them too early, they will likely just waste your teleport.
    How I use teleports is by pinning enemies on to each other and then burning both at the same time. Teleport enemies on top of each other and then hitting the whole group with aoe spells or abilities to get to their juicy hp.
    Also: your group should focus on damage type. Having split physical/magical damage can make an easy fight far more difficult than it needs to be. CC wins fights, pure dps does not. You cannot CC an enemy with armor. You CAN split the damage types, but it hurts the dps overall. Alice Aliceson is an excellent example of why splitting damage can make things worse for your group

    Having a split magic and physical party is actually a terrible tip. Focusing on asingle type of damage (maybe not exclusively but heavily) makes it A LOT easier, as it will deplete their physical or magical armor faster which will in turn open them to take actual damage and get a bunch of crowd control and damage over time stats. Especially on higher difficulties, focus on either physical or elemental damge, don't spread yourself too thin, it's not worth it. Yes some enemies have less physical than magical armor or vice versa, but it's still more effective to focus on a single type of damage.

    I agree teleport is a huge advantage, but tip two is not a good tip exactly. There are other moves to use that will move player characters safely around such as cloak n dagger, nether swap, pheonix dive, and i think there is one more but cant recall it atm. Teleport should be used only on characters in the early first 5 levels in the very beginning. Hopefully by level 5 one or all characters should know at least one of the abilities I've mentioned. Cloak and dagger by far is a must have for half my group. Teleport goes on the other half. Last thing you wanna do is damage teammates in a fight especially on tactician. Classic mode isnt challenging if you play with 2 summoners on your team.

    • @razb8351
      @razb8351 5 лет назад

      the last move you were thinking of was tactical retreat, which i believe is superior to cloak and dagger because it gives you haste. I have to disagree about what you said about teleport, as i think it is one of the most valuable skills in the game. Teleport is meant to be used to control the field, as it allows you to move enemies out of vantage points or pick enemies off before the others get in range.
