That is precisely because they DON'T care about their community anymore! They think they still do but don't ask for opinions and wants any longer. If people get too much money on their hand they all start to look only upwards and lose the bonds to the people they consider below!!! The greatest games of old, all came from companies with little money that bet all on this one game they were developing! It was the moment they got access to great money sources for their next games that they didn't consult their player bases any longer and just started developing blindly! And, who would have thought went under!!! Larian is one of very few that held onto their philosophy this long!!! Larian, do you exist forever!!!

They start losing fans when they themselves start losing the love of the game. When it's no longer fun to make, and it becomes a grind to just get the next game out, it shows, and we can see it. It's those studios who actually love what they're doing and want to breathe life into their games that grab our attention and fandom. CDP Red and these folks are great examples.

Freedom of choice in quest completion, unlimited ability to customize character builds, engaging and fully interactive environments and other elements that make up some true essentials for a rich old school rpg experience. Larian's approach to their games is something that always has me excited for a new title and my anticipation for Baulders Gate 3 is through the roof! Keep up the great work, and please, stay true to your roots and vision of what creating a great rpg game is all about. The money will follow, I promise you, but please dont dumb down or simplify your approach or design because in my opinion, that kills the greatness. Cheers!

Firwik Howlo the best thing I find with the premade characters is that you get to see the context and dialogue that you missed when you watch your companions drag an NPC aside to talk to them. A lot of the quests and dialogue choices are much more personal too (eg Ifan has his own special “Ifan” dialogue options) so the choices you make feel more meaningful, particularly if it’s a character you felt a connection to as a companion. I’m really looking forward to playing as Thane and Lohse 😁

The first 5 levels were crushing but got surprisingly easier after that apart from the occasional difficulty spike. 4 Acts, 2 is even bigger than act 1, act 3 is the smallest then act 4 is around the same size as act 3 but has a lot more content. Another way to judge it is by levels since there's only so much you can do, I haven't tried killing *everyone* yet but by doing the majority of quests you'll be level 20-21 by the end and i'm actually unsure if you can make it to 22.

The bedroll can be found on the "tutorial" ship, the Merryweather, I found 3 pieces on board, having a four people party, only one was left to be found, so yea, that one comes from Fort Joy. But then I found yet another 2 spare ones later. And having the Red Prince in your party, you don't even need the shovel, the lizard aristocrate can dig without any tools.
About death and resurrection, if your party's remaining living run from the battle (teleporting to your chosen waypoint), the corpses will go with you, the spirits will stay on the battlefield (place they died), but you can resurrect them by targeting the corpse, that's in the safe place with you. It's not that you need to resurrect them during the battle.

I absolutely loved Divinity 2. I never played the first one, but after completing the second, I really want to.
It's some hardcore storytelling, various off-hand questing, and ingenious combat mechanics: forcing players to consider such obstacles as elevation, environment, and status effects. And unlike a lot of RPGs, you're not boxed into a single play style, at least after you reach the Mirror to adjust skills at-whim.
    -
The only thing I can honestly complain about is that, once you beat the game on a character... that's it.
There's no continuation of a "free play" mode, no chance to go back to past areas and patch up quest lines, nada.
You simply get some pre-credits note of what happened to the places/people you visited, which is closure to an extent, but bittersweet.
It truly is a one-way, mostly linear ticket - with quirks and unique options-per-character thrown in. But it's still an amazingly fun game.
    -
That's kind of brilliant, though, as it encourages you to try new characters and perhaps new play styles to really flesh out the things you missed (spells, dialogues, quest chains, etc.). And let's face it, if you didn't have a character with Teleportation, you missed a TON of opportunities (eg: at least the Gloves of Teleportation just outside Fort Joy).

Man, playing this utter masterpiece of a role playing game is one thing, but watching this video and realizing just how insanely much work and love went into it, like the ambiance, just totally blows my mind. One admittedly kind of frustrating but very interesting mechanic that I love is how healing spells or items damage the undead and poisoning spells or items heal them. I just love that idea. It's so simple as ideas go, but simplicity is a cornerstone of brilliance and it makes for some very new experiences. I have Fane in my party right now and I love having the added need to consider if I have enough poison with me as well as health potions, etc.
I've played a LOT of RPG's but nothing I've ever played stacks up against Divinity 2. Not even close. I played Pillars of Eternity first and really liked it, but in retrospect Divinity 2 absolutely dwarfs PoE (no pun intended lol.) DoS2 is like a singular skyscraper in the middle of a residential neighborhood in comparison to everything else I've played. The Witcher 3, Disco Elysium, Atom RPG, Dragon Age, Fallout:NV, etc. They're all great games in their own right, but, at least in my opinion, Divinity 2 is in a league of its own. You can just tell what a wildly special game it is and the amount of love and passion poured into its development really shows at every turn, in every corner, every interaction and dialogue box, every competing quest line, everything about this game is incredible to me.
