    What do you do for moss control on your lawn? Does the Iron in the fertiliser take take of it?

    Upped my setting on the drop spreader as it was getting late and it was empty 70% the ways through the first pass lol.

    Are you using a separate sprayer for your weed killer/seaweed or are you going with a a really good rinse out? Love the channel BTW 👍

    • @NoviceGardener
      @NoviceGardener  9 месяцев назад +1

      I’ve got two of the same sprayers just to save having to get all the weed killer out. It’s a bit overkill, but it avoids any worry! 😅

    Great video thanks! Are you sure it is safe to use the fertiilizer (particularly with the iron content) so soon after seeding? I have been told otherwise by the place I bought my seeds/fertilizer and I'm annoyed because I over-seeded before I realised it could be a problem! Cheers

    • @NoviceGardener
      @NoviceGardener  8 месяцев назад

      Cheers!
      It's no problem putting it down at this stage. This fertilser has quite a low iron content compared to some off the shelf stuff. But it's still ok at this point 👍🏻

    Hoping you can provide some advice. If seeding a new lawn, when would you put down pre seed fertiliser? Can it be put down same time as the seeds? Or well in advance? Or again, it won’t kill anyone so doesn’t really matter 😂

    • @David-wh7rm
      @David-wh7rm 9 месяцев назад +1

      If seeding a completely new lawn it's best to put pre-seed fertiliser down when you're putting the seeds down then cover both with compost. If overseeding a current lawn then it's best to put pre-seed down about 4-5 weeks after you put seed down.

    • @chriscole3624
      @chriscole3624 9 месяцев назад

      Pre-seed fertiliser is very close to the Autumn/winter NPK ratios (see the video) so given it's that time of year you could just use that.
      I think as long as you use a good compost to cover your seeds as David-wh7rm mentioned, germination rates are high (as long as your not using old seed (see a video from Sams lawn)) without adding a pre-seed fertiliser. Once it's growing put down a dose of the autumn/winter fertiliser.

    • @David-wh7rm
      @David-wh7rm 9 месяцев назад

      @@chriscole3624 tbh I'd use autumn winter fertiliser too if overseeding, as it has iron which is good for helping with moss. Better than pre-seed without iron. I only wouldn't use this if I was seeding from new as putting down fert at the same time as seed isn't good when it has iron in it

    • @chriscole3624
      @chriscole3624 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@David-wh7rm Good info David! The ICL sportsmaster fert I use has no iron in it. So I guess the take away info is keep an eye out for 'Fe' in the info of the fertiliser. And use accordingly.

    • @NoviceGardener
      @NoviceGardener  9 месяцев назад

      It’s best to put down a week before it a week after seeding. It aids with germination. There’s no harm putting it down a week after as long as you can see some germination 👍🏻
