  • In today's video, I show you how I over seed and top dress my small lawn in the garden. I don't use any fancy tools. Everything is affordable and easily picked up from local shops!
    The grass seed I'm using is from A1 Lawns. It's just over £30 for a bag, which may sound expensive for seed, but the bag will last you a long time and it will cover a large space! they're not paying me to say this, I just think they're superb

    Great video which makes the process look so simple. Will be sourcing the same seed you recommended. Thanks!

    Hi, what compost do you use? When I buy topsoil bags or compost from a garden centre they're almost always have twigs and other lumps in that I wouldn't want to put on my lawn.

      It's Clover topsoil. It does contain peat, which someone commented about recently as it can be bad for the environment (something to do with CO2). But it's brilliant stuff!

    Do you use any grasses with rhizomes in your lawn?

    Would lawn soil work as place of the compost that you used?

    • @NoviceGardener
      @NoviceGardener  4 месяца назад +1

      Definitely - wouldn't degrade like compost either.

      @@NoviceGardener Are we still able to mow over it or should we wait?

    be aware you buy a bag 80% germination first year then germination rate goes down every year after

      Cheers, that's food for thought. With how many jobs I'm doing at the moment, I don't think I'll have much left for next year!

      There's a lot of lawn care jargon out there, but the basics get a good enough lawn 😁

    Why do you need wetting agent when we had wettest March in 41 years ?? I’m a bit confused and shocked 😳 maybe you can explain

      Even more reason too, helps to get the water down deep into the soil so you don't end up with a boggy lawn.

    • @NoviceGardener
      @NoviceGardener  Год назад

      Exactly what Jefferson said. We have had a lot of rain recently, but it helps to break the water tension. Hope that helps!

      I should have put it then in my lawn .. the clay is just gone bogland 🥴
