Phil would be proud of all of you all. Thin Lizzy is not as easy as people may think. You did it justice.
I like this version!!
It's a tribute to their talent that I still remember all of their names after all these years!!!
I just noticed Judah is playing Bass instead of his usual lead guitar. More the better for Tyler and Allison to shine!
Three premium School of Rock players in this video!! Judah Sweig, Tyler Thenstedt, and Allyson White!!!
Oliver Hamand on the drums ain't no slouch either!! He appears on other SoR videos!
The drummer is a natural and plays like a metronome
Having the bass player sing the lead vocals was a nice touch, and a great job he did too!
This sounded great. Long live the School of Rock. Still miss Phil, a life lived too fast, too short.
Looks like the girls were back in town, too. Great job all around. Oliver Hamand solid back there. It's noteworthy how many SoR videos have Tyler Thenstedt just singing, given what a smooth skilled instrumentalist she is. Love Judah Sweig's passion for the songs.
Tyler was playing guitar, with help from Alison White and Judah Sweig.
@@ronaldrockwell8549 Yah, my point is, in many videos Tyler is just singing and one could imagine that's all she (like many of ths kids) did in these bands, but a video like this (and others) show how good on guitar and bass she also is.
Tyler is one very talented singer and musician. She just loses herself in the zone and owns everything that she does. I would love to know if she has progressed her musical career in the years since this video was filmed. And the rest of the band, as always, are right on the money. Very enjoyable.
I used to listen to this song when i was a teenager and to see you guys ripping it up all these decades later gives me hope for the future of humanity!
The Chicago School of Rock will be doing a FULL Thin Lizzy show next season!
love the hands !
Who knew that it was a back strum that made that signature sound at the start of the Boys Are Back In Town song??
Tyler Thenstedt has been coming up through the ranks, singing and playing instruments, for a while and she always gives it her best! Way to go Tyler!!
all doing great, loving boys back in town... but what strikes me most about this video is how relaxed the drummer is... like he can drum and eat breakfast while reading the morning paper. ability without trying.
Both the lead singer and the young woman with the red SG became AllStars. She did a full Thin Lizzy show the next year. She did an amazing job on *Slow Blues*

Guitars are out of tune and drum tempo is up and down but doesn’t matter, this is just pure rock and roll. Love this!
These young Rockers are the future of a Rock revival! Word" !...
Well done guys! You did the Lizzy proud! It's so great to see the passion for the song in all of you.
That has to be the longest bass guitar I ever saw!!
A bass player who sings Thin Lizzy covers. Good job, buddy!
I bet these people are absolute monsters 4 years later. everyone played great, but I must say that the drummer really shines. kudos.
Judah Swieg, Tyler Thenstrdt, and Alison White are the power trio!!!
Closed my eyes, and I swear I was hearing a bootleg vid of TL circa 1978. It is that crazy good. Thanks guys and girls!!!
It's interesting to note that there are three differnt guitar brands being used here, Fender for the Bass, Gibson for Allison's Lead, and whatever brand Lauren Connor uses for Tyler.
Tyler is playing the same Paul Smith guitar she was playing a few months earlier for a performance of Samba Pa Ti by Santana!!
And Allison White is playing a Gibsen, a nice one, but not as good as a Paul Smith!
I got a tape of a bar band doing the same combo cowboy song into boys are back in town. That was from '87... still love it..
These kids do it justice! 👍
This singer played Victim Of Change
Jadas Priest before this, right ? He likes our old music, doesn't he ? I hope he's
gonna be what he wants to be.
Yes, Judah Swieg is his name and he did play on Victim of Change wth these same 2 ladies and a young girl by the name of
Celia Porter.
Great job on 2 classics. They made it sound like they've been jammin together for years instead of days!
Kick Ass!
It's so comforting to see that the kids raised in America's breadbasket are being taught about the things that matter and made our country so great!!
A modern "SuperGroup" !!
judah you can tell loves this music great job parents!! they did wonderful !
With this show Judah moved to a whole other level.
Judahs ma thanks you :)
I've watched several of these videos now, i was still a bit worried about watching this as i love Thin Lizzy. They did good, the girls did the dual guitar part at the end very well. I especially want to congratulate the drummer, he had encapsulated Brian Downey's drumming of fast, loose, tight & fills very well.
Thanks on their behalf! I often tell people that they don't learn to be able to put on a show, they put on a show to learn, and Oliver, the drummer, having played Brian's parts will be able to draw upon those elements in his own work. By the way, over the next month, all of the School of Rock locations will be doing shows. If you get a chance, visit www.schoolofrock.com and see if there is one near you. Chicago is an exceptional location, but every location has kids at this level.
Congratulations to the band!
Long life to rock, yeaah
Greetings from Chile!
I love when the two lead guitarists go back to bacj
ROCKNROLL 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Nice, keeping Lizzy alive! Good work...
Great !
An old man can just go crazy watching these school of rock videos. All these great looking teenage girls playing the real music just like they were born in1950 like me. They look like they were born way after all the stuff they play came out but it looks like their daddy (or granddaddy) taught them an appreciation for the good stuff. The guys can play good too, I do hear them.
When the two get together their fans cheer!!
Oliver Hamand, a working man's drummer!!!
You know what, both girls are prettier when they smile!
I hope you all make it too the bigs, I was getting caught up on all the Judas Priest albums yesterday, and these Chicago School of Rock videos came up I'm so excited about this stuff I can't get enough, let's just say I've been rocking since 1975, and this brings light too my life thank you too who ever created this school.
IRnative A guy named Paul Green, back in 1996 (long before the Jack Black movie) had been teaching the traditional, one on one way. One day he decided to get his best students together to jam, and it was awful. So he decided to reinvent his program so that everyone practiced as a group, playing in a band, and they learned much more, far faster. Kids in a band develop friendships and practice because their friends are depending on them. And by practicing with adult supervision, they have fun, but still have guidance to achieve a goal. And the program is amazing in how much girls and young women benefit outside of the traditional environment of "the garage."
They do have an adult program, but honestly - they are generally nowhere near as good as the kids. I've known whole families in School of Rock.
Another masterpiece! The singer sounds like Thin himself. MWCV, thank you for the upload.
Thank you.
They did a great job and I am impressed they would tackle something as pristine as any Thin Lizzy song But Plz dont compare anyone to Mr Phil Lynott..It is not possible..:)
NotEvenRelevant Sure, but it's important to learn to play Phil's music. Music dies if new generations don't learn it.
You are 100% correct..:)
MidWest Concert Video Yep very true and a very important statement. I love this school of Rock stuff. I wish they had it when I was coming up but then again I started playing guitar in 82 and we didn't need it as much as kids need it now with all the bs that constitutes as mainstream these days.
Great job! I've always loved the transition between these two songs and you killed it!! Nice job!
You can tell they love the music which makes a good performance great
RIP Phil !
Great to see ye young dudes cover Lizzy, Brilliant!
Clearly Alison did NOT want to do the back-to-back duel thing, but when Tyler approached the mic and after repeated moves by Judah she finally relented. Once she was there and heard the cheers of her fans, she was all in!!!
She's actually bowing to the drummer! He does a good job on this and other SoR videos!
Oliver Hammand is a Rock Drummer extraordinaire!!
They ALL were smiling when they switched from Cowboy Song to The Boys Are Back In Town because they KNEW the crowd was waiting for it!!
You guys really nailed two classic Thin Lizzy songs. Well done. Definitely my favorite "School of Rock" video.
Mark Purington The guitarist became an AllStar.
Which one? All three guitarists totally hit the songs note for note. Much talent there. It really looks like they all enjoyed the music as much in 2017 as we did in 1977.
Finally got another good one!
You Kids Rock!
I like this. Great job guys!
Are u kidding me! Their awesome!
TEAMWORK !!!
SPECTACULAR !!!
Another epic battle of titans! Allison White had some notoriety up to this point, but Tyler Thensted went on to greater notariety, as did Judah Sweig !!
I think Phil and Gary would approve! Well done!
Loved it
I could write a few paragraphs of praise but I’m just gonna try to capture how these kids made me feel as “The Boys” finished - fuckin’ great!!!
Tyler was a singer in some of the other SoR videos I've seen. She is also a pretty good guitar player!!
Nicely done. Thank you!
Mark Purington You're welcome. This School just did an entire show devoted to Thin Lizzy at Chicago's Irish American Heritage Center.
Is it on RUclips yet? Would love to see it.
Mark Purington Sadly, I've only sold two copies of that show so far, and cannot put the full show up yet. School of Rock AllStar Tyler Thenstedt did an amazing version of "Slow Blues" that is up on RUclips.

Whoo! Awesome!!! .
Chicks on guitar! Great stuff
This song(Boys Are Back In Town) has to be played by two guitars to sound right!! These gals do a bang up job!!
Look at those smileas!!
Hit the bricks Beiber"! Take notes!...Ha!
really good!
So talented.
Phil loven everything here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
100% Rock’ N’ Roll
smokin!
Damn it that lead singer is serious!!!
Does anyone know what happened to this guy, Judah Sweig? I looked him up and cannot find anything.
No idea, sorry. Most of these kids also excelled academically, so he probably went off to college and is a nuclear physicist or something.
Great job...would have been nice to go back further in Lizzys history and do Little Girl in Bloom or The Rocker...
I've never seen a School of Rock do an all Thin Lizzy show, probably because they sadly didn't have as many hit records in the US as they did the UK. But Chicago did a great Kinks show, and they've never had as big of a following in the US.
Sensational! Who plays bass?
lucas matos That's Judah Sweig, a two time School of Rock AllStar, the very best in the program.
@@MidWestConcertVideo2
They are all to be congratulated! they are excellent musicians
Gotta LOVE an angry girl guitarist!!!
Who was the singer in that judas priest song .. With the braces .. She was talented
That drummer had shit handled and the bass player played better than Phil did on this song.
Chicago School of Rock always does such great shows.
Emma Watson has a sister, cool! The Girls are new in town!
Phil Lynott reincarnated as a white guy! Love it.
They have been let down by the sound engineer’s , it doesn’t do them credit.
Phil's son?
Nope. American kid, from Chicago.
MINE :)
Good job by Steven Hyde on the drums
Oliver Hamand, actually.
super solid
The drummer's name is Oliver Hamand. He plays on a lot of SoR videos.
Thin Lizzy , pronounced Tin Lizzy
OK- Guy can NOT sing!
This was the second concert in 2 days and he tore his voice up doing the show. But I think it worked perfectly well in this circumstance, giving him a much more bluesy voice.
You don't listen to much Thin Lizzy, do you?
loved it
