I played every Star Wars Battlefront game in 2022! In this first part, we'll look at the original games that established the series!
00:00 Intro
00:52 Star Wars: Battlefront
07:05 Star Wars: Battlefront II
14:33 Star Wars: Battlefront II (PSP)
17:34 Star Wars: Battlefront III

What's the best Battlefront game?
2 original
2 definitely also who else loved just booting up assault on tha cantena level
2, nothing more, nothing less
2, because of the unlimited support of the community for modded maps etc.
What I also loved in Battlefront 2 (and what I am really, really missing in modern Battlefront 1 and 2 games), that you could enter vehicles even if it was from the opponents. And the story Mode was so great. I love to get fed with lore content and the rise of these clone troopers was just awesome.
BTW. are you going to play the PC version of the newer Battlefront games?
Battlefront 2 (2017) after all the fixes.
The og battlefront 2 is still the GOAT, but im also extremely nostalgic for it
naw it still holds up honestly
@@mvrtinxz650 that's good to hear. I remember playing it on my friends ps2 in like 2008 and loving every second of it
So you're saying love has blinded you?
It is but I think the nostalgia is playing it with someone in the same room as you. Gets boring pretty fast when you’re playing it by yourself
@@iiTzoreo1 so you're saying love has blinded him
The original star wars battlefront was and still is my absolute favorite in the series. I spent every single day playing bot matches. It was the best!
I remember that I never knew how to navigate the menu and would just spam A until it put me in a game lmao, I was 4 but once i returned to it when I was like 8/9 I finally figured out how much content i missed
One little thing I never see anyone mention is how powerful vehicle blaster felt. They all had a small aoe which just felt so much more satisfying. Much as I loved 2 and even the last one the vehicle weapons always felt like pea shooters.
@@mandogaming1313 exactly! Vehicles were so fun and were actually useful in the OG
I prefer the maps in bf1 over 2
To be honest modern Battelfront 2 became extremely fun over time!
vehicles suck always clipping through stuff
totally agree
It took 2 years after launch, but yes now it is a fantastic experience
I like EA battlefront 2 but I don’t like the card things for heroes everyone always seems to run the same exact cards for every hero and villain except for low levers that don’t have it solely because they haven’t unlocked it yet
Yeah it is. But the old ones are soo nostalgic.
Like I will play and just appreciate what the game has to offer. I played battlefront and episode III and then the unleashed series. All fun but they weren’t as polish as modern battlefront II. And that’s what I felt it was always missing. We didn’t have a Star Wars game that felt like a triple A title.
What is shocking about the battlefield 3 game and with it being canceled, Starwars: Elite squadron is basically Battlefield 3 and it probably is the best one of all, and psp game that NEEDS to be ported to console because it DESERVES to be on console it is that good
The game also made its way onto the ds. It’s a top down shooter with some on rails vehicle segments plus actual space missions but it follows the same story for the most part.
Preach!
There was also Renegade Squadron, which had a different battle style, but was a lot more seamless (and had troop customization)
I'm glad someone else appreciates that game as much as I do. Wish I was there for it's peak
The story was so damn good lol...i kinda miss x2 now :(
Man I love the fact that you tried these out. I will say I do love the battlefront 2 reboot but I do love the original battlefront 2 as well. I hope you like these games as much as I do.
I really wish some of the maps from battlefront 2004 could have been implemented in the 2005 game ex I feel like the 2004 geonosis is waaay better than the 2005
I really liked one of the besbin maps. I found a pc version that adds them in som mods and brings multiplayer mode but I’m still a fan of the ps2 version.
If you get the pc version you can get all those maps and more lol
@@hymiecamp Bespin, Rhen Vhar, Dune Sea, Yavin Arena, Naboo Plains and Kashyyyk were the Shit in BF1^^
They did add some maps from BF1 alongside 2 new heroes (kit fisto and Asajj Ventress) through DLC, however it was only ever released on Xbox. Good news is modders have ported over the dlc to the PC version and there's are countless other mods that add BF1 maps.
@@Ash21 Kit Fisto kinda sucks in terms of speed and abilities but Asajj is awesome, her block is too cool
I'm so glad you covered the OG games, and this is the most footage I've seen of BF3! insane that it was never released...almost a crime against humanity I dare say lol
The Battlefront III Legacy mod let's you see what could've been......
The Battlefront 3 Campaign is also in the Battlefront Elite Squadron for the PSP and NDS
Spoilers! (Jk, I'll talk about this in part 2, though 😎)
Star Wars Battlefront Elite squadron for the PSP, if I remember correctly, is the spiritual successor to Battlefront 2, I really enjoyed it.
Rogue Squadron also on the PSP, is very enjoyable.
Also all these PSP games look and feel so much better on the PS Vita. Bilinear filter is my new best friend.
Elite squadron is still to this day one of my favorites games. Loved the story
Elite squadron is still to this day one of my favorites games. Loved the story
The OG series was so good!! They have a special place in my heart :)
One thing to note about Battlefront II (2005). In SWBFI, some maps like Bespin, Geonosis, Kashykk, and Tatooine let you transport your AI troops across the map. You couldn't do that anymore in the sequel.
Yeah, I can't believe I forgot to mention squad commands too 😅
@@Niosai It's fine. I just wish BFII had maps like in BFI, making it so you could transport troops across the map in key strategic positions. But both games are still re-playable till this day.
Love the in depth reviews of all of these games! Thanks for making this! The map zoom in sound from battlefront 1 unlocked a fountain of nostalgia that I thought was dried up lol
Love your content man! I can see you improving with each video. Don't feel like you need to rush content Quality is better than Quantity💙
I knew RUclips was hiding one from me. Niosai slaying it as always. I'm feeling nostalgia for the first battlefronts despite never playing them.
Battlefront 2005 is the greatest star wars game ever. Left a huge impression with me. Always played on the ps2 and had to go to repair stores to get rid of the scratches on my copy. Nowadays I just play it on computer. Super satisfying to hook up a gaming pilot joystock and switch from keyboard to joystick during space battles. If they ever manage to do pandemic studios battlefront games justice and improve upon it with the huge amount of star wars lore we have right now lying around, I'd pick it up. Untill then the OG's are my go to.
I'm loving the little console screen transitions at the end of each section! Really puts things into perspective
Thank you! I worked pretty hard on those
15:46
Niosai: …Including Coruscant, Felucia…
Me: Okay, yeah that makes sense. They’re not super important in the grand scheme of things
Niosai: …and Tatooine.
Me: Okay WHAT?!
They basically turned battlefront 3 into Elite Squadron. A pretty damn good bf game
Hey you forgot the hero vs villain mode in battlefront two but it was only on Mos Eisley. But this was a good video and honestly I really would want to see what you can say about the dice battlefronts. As well Battlefront 4 was a thing and was going to have what if ideas of the franchise with their own stories but it was also scrapped on the conceptual level and no gameplay exsited. This was also going to be co inside with the first force unleashed game and have Star Killer as a playable Hero.
On the Xbox version there was dlc to move hero vs villain mode to other maps. Back in 2019 they added the dlc to BF2 for free!
@@RepublicTrooper125 I did not know about that. That is really cool!
@@RepublicTrooper125 Xbox 1 by any chance?
@@Sognafar yes, and series s/x
@@RepublicTrooper125 oh wait do you mean OG or new BF2
its so cool seeing you cover this series cause i loved battlefront 2
I just stumbled onto this channel and you’re not bad. Nice work man.
Thanks :)
Battle front renegade squadron was actually incredible. I played that and elite squadron as much as i did 2 on console. Awesome videos bro!
Great vid dude!
great video as always
Dude, you're awesome! Great video once again !
I really love your stuff man. Keep it up.
Star wars battlefront (2004) has the best loading screen in the whole universe, change my mind
Sick logo man, also keep up the awesome contents buddy🙌
I swear this channel is becoming my favorite very fast
good work my friend
Thanks for the awesome content man
Lucasarts man, they were truly something else despite their problems they knew how to make fun videogames.
By the way, a guy made a mod that adds more maps to the PSP version at the cost of galactic conquest and story mode. The maps are ports from previous games and even the renegade and elite games. It's worth trying out if you want a new Battlefront II experience in your emulator or PSP
Playing Battlefront 2 on my psp are some of my favorite memories as a kid. I'd even pass it between friends to take turns and argue which Jedi is the best in the game
This guy is so underrated. So much detail and a great presentation! Keep it up!
Ah, Star Wars Battlefront, this was basically my Halo to play in the early to mid 00s because I didn't own an Xbox and had a PS2. This and DBZ Budokai 3 were my most played games of that time.
All though when I think of Battlefront I tend to think of the 2005 version the most, I played the original a bit but when BF2 came out, I just played that a lot. I do like the campaign in the 2005 version and I think ironically it's pretty decent for a game that was not supposed to have a campaign at all and was made because they needed to ship with one. It's muuuuuuuuuuch better than the 2017 game and that is hilarious considering the latter was made to have an sp from the ground up.
I am actually not a big fan of space battles in the 2005 game, it felt too empty and barren compared to the on foot infantry fights, battles often consist of going instead capital ships because the actual dogfighting was so empty and barren.
It's a shame BF3 never got made, Free Radical with the Timesplitters games and Second Sight are great devs and BF3 really could've been the best in the series.
What's funny is that Battlefront II was the second most popular game on xbox live multiplayer, even when Microsoft shut down og XBOX servers. So you can arguably say that Battlefront II was also the XBOX's Halo too.
@@caseyhall2320
Maybe more like the Xbox's CoD before that series blew up.
Its wild how much more satisfying the “story” is in the og BF2 compared to the EA BF2
Battlefont 2 mods are honestly so amazing, they're shockingly great
I to this very day await the space to ground combat that was promised in battlefront 3, great video as always
most videos that have this kind of title and thumbnail are usually just someone giving commentary over what they are literally doing in the game for 20min, then giving their opinion of the game in the last 30 seconds of the video. Sometimes they’ll even put “review” in the title.
So I was pleasantly surprised that you actually gave an in depth look into each of these games, and it was great. It was really interesting to learn more about the mechanics and potential of battlefront 3 and had no idea you could actually play the game today.
Looking forward to the rest of the series!
I was sweating in the first half of this comment lmao I appreciate that :)
It's really a shame you've only got 50k subs. You've taken up the task of having to play through multiple games per video on a weekly schedule, yet your videos continue to be such high quality. You deserve 300,000 at the VERY least.
I appreciate that 😭
Love your videos
One of the best parts about the original battlefront was the grenade physics, how they'd toss you around even if they didnt kill you. Created so much madness
I remember an interview with Dice back in 2015 where they explained the new games don’t have seamless ground/space combat because the graphical fidelity is too high to try to fit that much stuff together.
I’d rather have gameplay over graphics then
Honestly, I think almost all the battlefront games have been good (at least at the end). Loved the original two on the ps2, played the demo of one on the psp endlessly. The newer two are different, but they are star wars, when I first played Battlefront (2015) it felt like star wars, everything was so pretty and flashy, and it was so simple it just felt right. The second one had that thing with micro-transactions at the beginning, let us never forget that (since dice seems to know no end to their shitty developing skills), but now, I couldn’t recommend that game more, the only flaw it has, is that it doesn’t have instant action split screen, but besides that (and glitches I guess) for me it does stand as a great entry in the series.
The first orginal one was definitely the best for me.
How could you forget to mention assault mode on Tatooine! A hidden heroes vs villains mode that I believe was also a pc exclusive. It wasn't a 4v4 like EA's games though, but every hero vs every villain simultaneously
hey person who played the og battlefront games his entire life (was born the same year bf1 released)You could always lock onto someone but it didnt force you to shoot them. It did autoaim your rockets and torpedos if you were using a starfighter. But those required you to be looking near the target to lock onto them
i was very young when the og battlefronts were released so i have no memory playing them outside of a few occasions when my brother would leave his pc on or something, so i never really had any opinions on the gameplay or mechanics in either games rather memories of seeing my older brother playing them late at night with his friends and seeing everything play out it felt like a movie so when i bought the games for myself and would do the same with my friends it hit a nostalgia nerve for seeing everything again and how they still more or less hold up 18 years later just being fun to jump into and have a good time
3:45 Oh yeah that sound takes me back.
Like, your videos are so good I will watch them no matter the games,
I could even watch a "I played every single (A Dating Sim) in 2022"
That's how good they are
I played the KFC dating sim in 2022! Jkjk, thank you though :)
@@Niosai You just put a smile on my face
Something that wasn’t mentioned that makes me enjoy battlefront 2004 WAY more than battlefront 2005 is the ability to use starfighters and other aerial ships during ground battles, it’s so fun wrecking infantry and tanks using LAATs, etc. Also the physics/splash damage and vehicle combat in battlefront 2 was way worse than the OG
The best part about Battlefront II was 4 player splitscreen, which was pretty cool back in the day for couch gaming. Hero battles, Galactic Conquest...etc...
This just gave me the biggest nostalgia trip ever, back to 2002, playing LoTR: The Two Towers on XBox! I legitimately smelled scents I remembered from back then and everything. 😄😀
13:31 I'm assuming you were playing in our SWGO Galactic Battles (US) server?
Btw I am SWGO Stormy, in your video. Thank you for covering this!
I believe I was! :)
13:50 ... the meta in bf1 was also explosives(antitank-guy was 80% of every lobby) and rolling or sniping, everything else was played by bots :D
what a time, loved it.
Battlefront II (2005) almost released without a singleplayer campaign but it was added late in development because the developers believed it was something that needed to be added.
That dedication did not deserve Filoni completely ignoring the clone rebellion on Kamino.
I had a demo version of the PSP game and it actually had the combined land and space battle. It only had one map since it was a demo (Tatooine), but I think they wanted to include both modes. You could spawn on a capital ship, in a fighter, or on the surface and by flying up you could transfer between ground and space. I expected you to mention this and was surprised that it was not actually in the full game.
You're talking about Elite Squadron! I'm going to be talking about that in Part 2 and while it does have surface to space, it's not seamless and they're almost treated like separate maps
Woah, I had no idea about battlefront 3, that looks like it would have been sick!
That slapping kotor music at the start :D
I really hoped you played the mods for OG Battlefront 2 PC, it's truly outstanding.
Looking forward to you covering Rouge Squadron and Elite Squadron
I grew up with the first two battlefronts on ps2. Me and my cousins would play for hours on end, and I really wish I could play them again.
The original Battlefront game was the first Star Wars game I ever played and it will always be my favorite, but in my opinion I think the original Battlefront 2 is the best of all the Battlefront games since it has a lot more game modes and a good campaign as well as being able to play as heroes.
I wish you had come across the PSP BF2 mods! They add back missing maps and more, Cool that you showed r7 too
We actually got the entire story in "battlefront elite sqaudron" (i believe that was the name) i used to have that game on my nintendo DS. You play as X2 a clone that has jedi dna. You as X2 don't go trough with order 66 and turn on your brother X1. You join the rebellion and later get trained by luke skywalker. And in the end you and your brother (now both capable force users) fight to death on mustafar! God this story actually slapped hard!
I actually talk about it in part 2 :)
@@Niosai yeah haha, just watched it! And part three too! Great series! The games and your videos haha!
Well, the basics of the story is kept for ES but it's heavily slimmed down from what the actual BF3 story was going to be
Good to know battlefront 2 still has the same online meta. Back when I was a kid I'd plug my PS2 into dialup and all I'd do was drop infinte trip mines.
For those wondering, pretty sure the Montross theme is part of the backround music for this video.
13:43
Yeah, the multiplayer is so unstable that blaster shots just don’t register most of the time, which means grenades are sometimes more reliable.
That's interesting. It's fun either way! :)
9:50 in the original release of battle front 2 they did use movie footage before playing the in game cutscenes, but they were removed for the steam release
I think there’s an option to enable the movie scenes in the steam version, not too sure though.
battlefront 2 has an awards feature as well. it ranges from small to big buffs. better rifle, a guided rocket, damage buff, vehicle regen, and others. but all in one life till you reach max level.
the first 3 times the award doesn't matter, after 32 times the requirement lowers, 64 it becomes permanent. the elite rifle and flechette shotgun can really do some damage
Me and my cousin would play split screen space battles in the 2nd game and just keep betraying eachother in the hanger till the defeat screen came up. Good times. 😂
SWBF 2 was the best but SWBF 1 was also very amazing in its own right to!
I remember playing the multiplayer for the PSP with cousins
We would use the heroes vs villian on tattoine trick and just goof off
fun times
Oh man. I remember og bf2 online in 2012 the meta was to roll and use the vanguard/rocket land mines to wipe out 4-6 people at a time
Yooo that kotor music blew me back to my childhood
I know nothing about these games but by god I will watch this video to the end.
The menu on console was epic, definately missed out on that
I had the first battlefront, and remember playing as a demo on xbox which came with the OT on dvd. But for the life of me, I cannot remember the PT being part of this game
There’s a PSP Battlefront game called Elite Squadron and the Battlefront 3 campaign pretty much got moved to that game
Don't even like Star Wars but I'll still listen to you talk about it. That's when you know you're winning at RUclips
😭 appreciate that
Original Battlefront 2 will always be the go-to for me
I completely forgot about Renegade Squadron even though i literally have the collector edition Vader psp that came with it. Idk how many hours i dumped into that game as a kid just messing around with custom units. I haven't tried elite squadron but I need to find a way before the part 2
There's a build of Battlefront 3 that is 90% completed, we just need that one guy to leak it.
damn this is one of the best current youtube series. You should try Fallout
This is nostalgic
A little sad the other two star wars battlefront PSP games weren't on the list but love the video overall!
That's part 2, stay tuned! :)
I love the casual skipping of Renegade Squadron and Elite Squadron on PSP in fact Elite Squadron is such a great game it's practically Battlefront 3
Part 2 includes those and should be out in the next day or two! :)
@@Niosai oh nice
In case you don't know there were two more psp games that were sequels to battlefront (like how dbz evolution was a budokai game but not called budokai). They were called Star wars battlefront Elite Squadron and star wars battlefront renegade squadron. Elite Squadron also had a Nintendo DS version that played completely differently
Also I think "I play every Timesplitters game" should be added to the list of requests
You just described Part 2 :)
That's a fantastic idea! Added to the list!
@@Niosai Yeah at the end of the video it sounded like you were alluding to these games but felt the need to comment still just in case (especially about the ds version)
Niosai! I have a suggestion
Could you play every Super Mario game or Sonic the Hedgehog game? 😆 I’d love to see you do that!
I'm saving these for a specific occasion but they're gonna happen! :)
Seen many videos on these in the year but always interested to see how each creator does it.
For the first few entries, I think 1 2004 is good, 2 2005 has it's improvements but I find the maps not as great, the Death Star and Palace and more are fine I just enjoy the Naboo, Having 4 Arena and Rhen Var more though Polis Masa is pretty good, the class change at command posts is good so you don't have to die to change it. I find the map zoom in the loading screen to be really cool in 1. The new maps are fine additions though, the lack of a 3rd faction is sad though, I guess Jawas kind of count but not battling that doing their own thing (not counting hunt mode which is a fine mode), the classes aren't too bad the ones added, the PSP port is limited but still a fine version besides the PS2/Xbox. 2 is good but I find the campaign less interesting in 2 even if it's a classic campaign then a map after map approach that 1 had for a campaign. Of course Galactic conquest is better in 2, Renegade squadron did improve on it a fair amount. Can't say for Elite Squadron as haven't played it. The minor things do matter between games and the challenges in 2 PSP are fine at first then just ignore them or come back to remind myself what they were like.
Battlefront is no Battlefield 2 Modern Combat on consoles with the swap feature around the map but for a more I guess similar to Simpsons Home and Run for GTA and Battlefront as the that for Battlefield even by a bit it really was a good attempt at a Star Wars game in that style. I play them on and off these days but did a ton as a kid for sure PSP port on car trips and the PS2 versions for the main experience (not disappointed in the Xbox/PC versions having the DLC maps). I love 2's space maps to sabotage the command ships, the quotes/one liners are great of course.
The Battlefront 3 build yeah interesting never seen anything on it so this was cool to see. Yeah the seemlessness is only ever done by No Man's Sky technically as Battlefront 3 would have been good but Elite Squadron the remains of that project, Haven Call of the King and Starfield all can't do it. I don't think Beyond Good and Evil will likely be able to do it either for a big budget game unlike No Man's Sky were the algorithm and the artstyle/procedural generation make it possible and big companies don't want to downscale their games to achieve the feature/don't care about it so we never see a game do it which is their loss (in the case of Starfield, the others tried but hardware limitations I feel, time constraints or just so as Haven doing what it does on PS2 for level of detail on planets to zoom all the way in is proof they knew the hardware and could do some impressive things with it but it had it's issues and sale problems because too ambitious and no one cared about it so there's that but a Star Wars licensed game doing it would be cool and people would buy it but also licensed games have difficulties of releasing sometimes even if LucasArts were fair in certain ways with them making games because they had a game division but besides the connection to the movies difficulty of having original characters not altering the main ones) I think it's awesome.
My bois Renegade Squadron and Elite Squadron deserve some love!
The gameplay in the new Battlefront is so much better that I don’t even care if there’s not as many maps or modes as the original
22:57
Okay, so this IS just Part 1, because I was ready to ask, "But what about the Renegade and Elite Squadron games?"
Yeah, no, Part 2 and all that jazz. Got it.
17:58 acording to some devs game was 99% ready so if this is true leaked build its much older and unfinished that last build they had which probably only needed bug fixes and polish.
Also you need play the demo of Battlefront ll, show the real potencial of Battlefront ll & lll!
If you're craving a Battlefront fix, check out the Kyber Mod for Battlefront 2.
Why is it that the Star Wars games we want to play the most are the ones that never get finished?
😢
Im curious, are u gonna do battlefront squadron and elite squadron?
Part 2! Stay tuned :)
Hello from 🇫🇷 France ahahah ! This game so cool 👍 😍
Wish there was a mod for BFII that made all weapons feel as good as in the first game (2004)
