This is brilliant. I’ve had trouble speaking and eating for 8 months due to fracturing jaw. Muscles got so tight and clicking etc. Physio said my muscles were rigid. His massages didn’t help. Now I can try myself. Thanks

When I apply the massage to the temporalis is like pressing on a stone: no relief is felt because my temporalis is as hard as a stone, it is literally like rubbing against the superfice of a hard stone.

Hi doctor. My jow locked after filling two last left lower jaw teeth simulteanously. After 7 days, my jaw locked. There are still some cavities there. And the doctor said jaw lock happened because of dental anesthesia injection into jaw muscles. Now my left jaw clicks even my right but the left more, and the left jaw deviated towards right one. How to place the disk into the right place.

I love all your videos! Thank you so much for making these and explaining the mechanics behind this complicated but very important joint. I’ve seen two “jaw specialists” over the course of 10 years and neither of them come even close to what I’ve learned from you in the last 24 hours. I know you aren’t an ENT but are you able to touch on how the inner ear is affected by TMJD? Ear pain, fullness, tinnitus? I’ll be sharing your channel in the TMJ support group on Facebook.

Thank you! I have many patients who have ear symptoms, but I have yet to figure out why and how these structures are related exactly. But as a start, the disc of the jaw joint and the bones of the middle ear comes from the same embryologic material, Meckel's Cartilage. Those bones, along with mammary glands, are what define us as mammals, interestingly enough.
My suspicion is that these structures are "entangled" and share electrical patterns and pathways in the nervous system, and in the subtle energetic system of the body.

Also, ear pain can be referred pain coming from certain jaw and neck muscles.
Ear fullness can be caused by a trigger point in the sternocleidomastoid muscle (SCM).
Tinnitus, or ringing, is a much more mysterious symptom to me. Very difficult to test, because it is subjective. Only you can hear the ringing in your ears! As of right now, I feel that meditation, breathing techniques, habituation therapy, and maybe even vibrational therapy with tuning forks or crystal bowls are the directions that give me the most hope for solutions to that issue.

Wonderful! Thank you! You are speaking my language 🙏🏻 it’s so frustrating that when all this started for me (I was about 16) my dentist completely shrugged it off. Had they had basic 101 training of the TMJ, perhaps I could have remedied this quickly and prevented chronic TMJ issues. Very disappointing that so many dentists and jaw specialists don’t care enough to thoroughly learn about the causes and treatment of this issue. Keep sharing your knowledge and passion to educate and reduce suffering! It is rare and greatly appreciated ☺️

@@BuffaloTMJ Thank you so much - After starting mewing, suction hold of posterior third of tongue to the roof of mouth, I began a process of EXTREME pain in my temporalis and masseter muscles, even though my breathing through my nose was MASSIVELY improved since starting mewing, a catch 22, I can breathe for the first time in my life but the temporalis pain especially was preventing me from focusing, the worst pain I have ever felt putting me on the floor in pain, you have seriously saved my life thank you I felt INSTANT relief from these exercises, as well as from trying to extend lower jaw forward more. The eschemic release technique especially took my pain from a hard 10 down to a 1. THANK YOU JESUS (And Dr Jeff)

@@BuffaloTMJ I also have severe pain in my ear drums, it literally feels like a bone or something is poking into the surface of the ear drum, due to the maxillary expansion caused by mewing.

    Sir,
Nice presentation. In some videos I have seen fingers/knuckles running from bottom to top out side the mouth as masseter myofascial release. Which is correct..? Can be done both methods.? Doing both methods have different type of reasons .?

Is the pain from this kind of like a moderate headache pain? I am getting it in these points and the back of the eye. How long before it will go away? Kind of scaring me. Thank you

I hear a lot of mouthclicks when you are talking. Do these come from the mouth or the ear? For a couple of weeks now I get clicks in my rightear when I talk. I don't think it is coming from the jaw because I get a click even when I hardly open my mouth.

My jaw disk is popping since 4 month now. But some mornings when I wake up I can hear a clicking instead of the pop/clunk. Is that mean the disk is getting closer or the opposite? Thanks for the videos

There's no way for me to know that based on a description. I'd need to do a physical examination, and probably confirm with MRI. Wearing an orthotic during sleep helps to reduce pressure on the joint structures during the clenching episodes that happen during sleep.

    Hi doc ,
Is it possible for tmj dysfunction to cause neck pain / globus feeling plus dysphagia ?
I have a severe spasm in my neck and I also have pain in my tmj it hurts bad and clicks as well . So was wondering if all are interrelated as it all started when I went for a check ue with the dentist for my rct . Upper left molar same as my tmj problem .

Hey doc I have severe tmj I’ve also had 2 athrocentesis done , I still have jawn pain like crazy. My jaw on the meat side is completely move on it’s own I feel like it’s permanently , it’s just hurts like crazy sometime I feel dizzy after eating sometimes I have to stop eating because of the pain

    • @BuffaloTMJ
      @BuffaloTMJ  4 года назад

The true cause of pain is a tricky thing to find. If you had arthrocentesis, then you should have a very complete diagnosis already. Do you know what that specific diagnosis is? And why did you have arthrocentesis twice if it didn't help the first time? And what is the "meat" side?
