I've been trying one thing after the next in an attempt to stop the loud popping every time I chew and have had zero luck. It's been so bad that I've avoided eating in public. This is the ONLY exercise that stopped 99% of the popping - and it happened within a few days of doing the exercises. I could tell my muscles were extremely tight when I started and have gotten a bit looser. THANK YOU for sharing this!!! I'm so grateful to be able to eat without the popping that I could cry. Now if I could find a cure for my tinnitus, which I thought was related but apparently isn't, I'll be beyond thrilled.
Hi Doc hope you notice this i just want to make a request can you create a video for all of this exercises how to cure Jaw clicking/popping so we can follow it everyday like how many minutes do we need to do each exercise. i think this might be more helpful for us. Thank You
I talked to my doctor about this and he diagnosed me with GCA but I have no signs of it besides the pain but it only happens when I open my mouth too wide now I’m m wondering if I should have talked to my dentist first
hello Dr. ive seen all parts from 1-6. i have a click at full open on my left side only. this started close to 6 years ago when eating a big hard piece of gum. when it first started i was barely able to open my mouth. now i am used to it. it does not click if i do the tong excersice, im good on 3 finger lenght, it clicks right after that in the 4th finger range. the clicking does not bother me anymore (ive gotten used to it) but the jaw muscular pain is at times terrible. espcially now after covid with masks, i wear my mask at work for close to 10 hours and I find myself constantly playing with my jaw, to correct the position of the mask. but when my shift is done i go home with massive jaw tension. also i know i sleep clinching or bitting down. i need some guidance and direction please.
Hi, I recently started having these “clicks” and “pops” when opening and moving my mouth or jaw, and I have been wondering if it’s something I should be extremely concerned about regarding everything happening in the world today. In other words, should I visit my dentist or doctor at this time? Also, even with my mouth shut, I can hear these clicks and pops with just moving my jaw side to side.
Hey Doc! I wanted to tell you something! I was just out driving with my girlfriend. I had this strange burning in my nose. I couldn't stop sneezing. Within 5 minutes after I stopped the sneezing because the burning went away, my jaw stopped clicking. It doesn't click or pop any longer. This has been this way since last August, and I had this jaw problem so bad. I popped and clicked everytime I opened my mouth, and especially when I chewed. Now it's all gone!!! I can't believe this!! This is awesome!!! I just had to tell you!!
@@mevrey Yea...I dont understand it. I had this burning in my nose. Then I started sneezing. Then minutes later I noticed the clicking and popping stopped. I just dont get it.
Hi Dr, i have an issue of tmj clicking, disc displacement without reduction and i am not able to open my mouth in full capacity and yawn as well properly since 4 months, can i go forbraces as my teeth have malocclusion and also i have to go for root planning as well, cam i go for these in bw having tmj. Really appreciate your response and the videos that you share regarding tmj clicking stopping teciques.
I've been having jaw clicks for about six years and recently I've pretty much had enough of it. I thought braces are going to fix it but I've had them on for a year now and nothing changed. I can open my mouth as wide as ever and I don't have any significant pain or headaches from it but it won't stop clicking, I've asked my dentist and they said that "it's unfortunately my anatomy and they're going to do what they can once they take my braces off", now that's not too much information for me, does anyone know what they could have meant? Do braces really fix this, or do you really need to have perfectly aligned teeth in order to fix it?
I have noticed that I only get the clicking noise in my left jaw and it clicks loudly if I move it forward or to the left, while my right jaw muscles feel tighter and it doesn't dislocate as easily. I have also noticed that the muscles on the left side of my jaw are more stretched and stressed than on my right. If you have any words of wisdom to share I would appreciate because this has been bugging me for a while now.
It's hard to know what's going on in person, let alone online. That being said, most of what I do with my patients has to do with getting tight muscles to let go, getting joints to be able to extend through their full range of motion, and then using function -- chewing -- to build strength and balance. Chew slowly, chew on both sides relatively evenly, practice relaxation of muscles, and practice stretching. Over time, you will see improvement.
Hi doc. I’ve been trying keeping the entire tongue on the roof of the mouth rather than just the tip. It seems to be working really well for my jaw joints and posture. Are you familiar with this tongue position?
I call that the Tongue Shrug. Made a couple videos about it! The roof of the mouth seems to be shaped by the tongue. When it doesn't spend enough time up there...the upper arch collapses!
I'd have to examine you personally to answer that. Many times when people tell me their jaw clicks, I find no click at all. In these cases, I think it's the eustacian tube making the clicking noises, which is normal. If you hear or feel clicks without moving your jaw, then it's not your jaw joint making the noises.
I feel like jaw position on right check different than the left one, also it gave me click sound when I open my mouth, what should I do sir?please help me!
So my jaw only clicks when I sleep at night never during the day I’ll notice when I wake up in the morning or at some time in the night my jaw will be out of place and in need of being repositioned any tips/exercises on how I should fix this?
Can myofunctional therapy after a tongue tie release repair a damaged TMJ? I had mine done and the jaw popping is pretty much gone after therapy for 2 weeks and the tongue tie release but will the sensitivity in the “teeth” heal after a year of therapy? I’ve had my teeth checked hundreds of times and they blamed it on the jaw popping damaging my TMJ.
hard to pin down tooth sensitivity. In my opinion, the best remedy for sensitive teeth is regularly holding cool water on the teeth when drinking, so that it's near the pain threshhold, but not painful or intensely uncomfortable. I've been able to reduce my tooth sensitivity considerably using this method over time. Also, forces on teeth can lead to sensitivity, so protecting the "occlusion" with some type of mouth guard or bite splint, probably a directive orthotic in your case, might be helpful.
No cure for clicking jaw, once that clicks, it clicks. Not sure what to do here. Mine just starting recently, did all the exercises, none even improved it.
Doc i do have clicking sound of my left jaw but it only happen when i close my mouth when its open wide, i felt no pain and can still move my face and jaw as usual, does this thing go away on its own?
Sir my jaw is producing clicking sound when I am opening my mouth from last 1 month..click happens after a little later in opening cycle....there is a little pain on right side...which videos should I watch on buffalo tmj ...how to cure this permanently...please reply sir
If my jaw hurts can u also put ice on it to calm it down my jaw hurts severe everyday sometimes it’s hard for me to continue with activities ,, idk what to do anymore I think my Condyle is fully broken
Bizarrely if I put my fingers in my ears and open and close my mouth fully, the click goes away. Also, I used to have an underbite which I don’t seem to have anymore. Thank you for your videos, you will have saved people from insanity 😁

Nothing to be extremely concerned about, as extreme concern causes us to clench. It's never a bad idea to have an exam.

There is also a difference in size, shape and placement of the jaw muscles. Is it because I use my right jaw to chew much more frequently?
