Yes, if it just wants to die then it isn't allowing enough fuel into the engine. This is most likely due to a gummed up main jet. It sounds like it is running on the idle circuit only. Sometimes the same junk that was in the carb was also in the fuel lines and tank. So even if the carb was completely cleaned a piece of gunk can come out of the fuel line and re plug the main jet.
Your symptoms show that the main jet and or emulsion tube are partially clogged. The main jet is the most likely to clog. Sometimes moving around fuel lines and dislodge some debris and reclog it after you cleaned it. The other posibility is the throttle needle that plunges down from the top(I'm playing with it at 10:00). It has a couple settings but if you didn't change those then it should be fine. The float should be the plastic style that is fixed and non adjustable.

It could be as simple as a dirty air filter. Try it without. It could also be a fouled plug. I know that other makes and models also have a rpm limiter when the machine is in reverse. It could think you are in reverse if the electric reverse switch is stuck. Does it die when you open full throttle or does it continue to run and sputter?
My Yamaha 360 cc 2002 won't run I put flamable oil on it will burn the oil but it's not letting the oil Travle through we're it. Needs to go so it just makes the sound of when every quad
Loved watching your boy run that beartracker out with you i have 2 red beartrackers for me and my boy hes only 4 years old but figure ill have the set once he's big enough to ride with me . Did that carb work out and stay running right for you im battling similar gremlin on one of mine swapped carb for cheap Chinese zoom zoom i believe was brand off Amazon im beginning to think its electronic issue since carb swap did nothing.
Cleaned my bear tracker carb and it will run perfect until I put the airbox cover on it them it dies , Unplug the hose going to the jug by the timing gear and then put lid on box and it will run . What do think I should check next

Any ideas the timing is dead on I've checked many times, the intake valve is set to 4 thousandths, and the carb appears to be clean with the 95 main jets and 42.5 for the smaller one. The exhaust is not bolted on completely its got a brand new head the spark plus is black but the spark looks strong. I've adjusted the needle for the main jet to try and get more fuel and it's gotten better than when I first started on it but it's not to a ridable point. The bowl fills up just fine no leaks. Also in the main jet area, the sleeve thing with the holes looks clean I can see through the holes but I can't get it out and would rather not force it. If you have any idea it would be much appreciated.
Mine bogs when I give it throttle too. I used to be able to keep pumping the throttle until it stopped but it got too bad over time. I have no idea what it is.
Please help me, im having a problem with a 2004 beartracker 250yfm carb. i cleaned the carb inside after i took it off but was afraid to tap that pin out to get the nerdle valve out. so i sprayed it good, made sure it wad moving and went on. when i took the throttle cable loose from the carb when i was temoving it the cable came out at yhe top of the long barrel not inside of just undcrewing, my fault. i put the carb back on and now im leaking fuel through my overflow hose, im assuming the needle valve is stuck.open and the quad wont idle down, could this be the cable separated and pulled out of the top of the barrel nut. one more.thing. is there any trick to putting the choke assembly back together. if appreciate ur guidance
If the overflow is leaking fuel: the float is not closing the needle valve all the way. More than likely debris are holding it open. Engine not idleing down is more than likely a binding throttle cable.
Installed new OEM carb & OEM head to carb joint. Idols good until I put the lid on the air box, then the motor shuts down. The air intake tube is not clogged. I have also installed a new OEM air filter. Any info on this problem would be a great help.
Is the filter oiled? Also I don't recall, but there could be a PCV valve that dumps into the air filter housing(it'll be a smaller black tube. If the engine is very worn, piston blow by will get pushed back into the airbox through the PCV valve and cause a rich mixture. You can disconnect this small rubber hose and try it out.
I removed the tube from the air intake hose and it solved the problem. I ran the mach a couple times around the yard shifting thru the gears and it ran great. My original problem was the mach would run good for a few minutes then start coughing and sputtering then gas would start pouring into the air box via the pvc tube.I figured the float was sticking. I found your vids on rebuilding the carb ( By the way are most excellent.)I ordered a rebuild kit. I took the carb off and removed the bowl what I found in the bowl flipped me out.There was a black widow spider in the bowl, dead of course. I cleaned the carb and replaced the float components The mixture screw would not come out would only move 1/4 turn. Reinstalled carb. Same problem. That's when ordered all the new OEM parts. Problem solved. However, I noticed after I removed the pvc tube from the air box and several trips around the yard that it still leaks a little gas thru the pvc tube. My question is would an adjustment of the mixture screw help this or is this normal ?
Alright i was going about 40 on my trail and i clipped a tree with my tires causing me to flip and etc. Well whenever I brought it back to my house, i could tell the steering was "rough" , it wouldnt want to steer or turn back whenever I turned it sharply. I also noticed that the steering wasnt aligned with the handle bars. Could someone please tell me how much this might cost. Maybe a rough estimate?
do you know why my engine kicks back against the starter. It's a 99 Bear tracker just like yours. there doesn't seem to be any way to adjust the timing.
need some help. 2002 bear tracker. changed the boot also new carb kit , but the bike idols really high. tried adjusting scree nothing . put choke all in stoles . if I put my hand over air hose almost pretty much covered it . it idols down. seems like to much fuel or air idk .. maybe fuel needle or jet .... any idea why running max high ? hey just have a quick question. i have the same kind of atv. it only runs on choke and i just replaced the carb manifold because it had a hole in it but it still only runs on choke. Do you think it just needs a good cleaning?

@@orionriley7947 Running on choke only signifies that it's not getting enough fuel. The Choke bypasses the main jet and forces excessive fuel into the engine to help while the engine is cold. Once the choke is off the fuel travels through the main jet (and idle jet at idle) and the engine should have enough fuel to run. It's very common for the main jet and it's corresponding passages to get clogged.
What I actualy needed to see, you were outta frame...lol...but I got the jist , good video otherwise , I like vids were normal people who don't have a full auto shop, do work, thanx
Those Chinese carbs are generally plagued with issues that can damage your engine(too rich/lean). You should only try one of those if your current carb is completely destroyed with corrosion.

cw300mag The air box on some quads can have it's air pickup tube blocked or obstructed.

Either your carb is clogged up or you don't have spark.

The filter is dry. I will remove the black tube and give it a try. Let you know the outcome. Thanks a lot for the info.

Valve adjustment. They are most likely to tight.
U did not tap out main jet from top after taking screw out..by loosening screw u tap on screw and it knocks out jet through bottom of carburetor

Sounds like your throttle cable is binding and not fully seated.

Yes, the main jet in the carb is plugged.

Carburetor Cleaner or Carb Cleaner. Any automotive store will carry it or any retailer with an automotive dept with also carry it.
