Asia & BJ, you’ll love his #1hit “Runaway” and #5 "Hats Off to Larry”!!
Exactly right. Those two are his other best songs.
Dell was a great musician singer song writer kind of always the heartbreak thing his biggest hit was run away I believe it was 1962 but this song takes me back to being a kid no doubt great reaction thanks for checking it out del took his own life in 1990 I remember where I was my dad had died at 61 and we were at a bar after the funeral someone played this song in memory of and i was blown away, keep spreading the music around God-bless ❤️
I was there...and it was so dm kool...
@@ericpeterson6766 ??
I was like 9 years old when this came out, and it really was one of my favoirtes. It is burned into my brain because my older sister had the 45 and played it regularly!
Okay, YepI I was born during the later part of the sixties. My father was a collector of the 50's and 60's so during the weekends my parents would invite their friends over for a night of loud rock and roll. Long story short if you like this song you'll love a song called Tallahassee Lassie" by Freddie "Boom Boom" Cannon.
She comes from taala- hassie 😊
"Runaway" is Del Shannon's biggest hit from 1961 but he had a lot more great songs such as "Hats Off To Larry", "Little Town Flirt", "From Me To You", "Two Kinds Of Teardrops", "Keep Searchin'", "Stranger In Town" etc.
You were literally listening to Little Town Flirt...so it can't fit in the category of "more great songs."
Run away by del shannon,Shannon, so good.
If you like Del Shannon you'll love his hits "Keep Searchin", and "The Big Hurt". Love your reaction.
You two crack me up. Glad you are learning things about each other through talking about music! That's why it's the Universal language.
I attended the same small town high school as Charles Westover (Del Shannon) in Coopersville, Michigan.
He was several years older than me.
The music of the early sixties before the Beatles was really fabulous.
The 50s & 60s was the best for raw talent
I love your reaction and I love that you picked this song. It came out when I was in 7th grade, and despite the standard pop-feel, this one is special. It has always touched me sort of like it touched the two of you: I just like it! It's even on my Spotify. And Del Shannon could sing. Thanks.
Asia and BJ you folks are into a big rabbit hole. You've done "Runaround Sue" by Dion & the Belmonts, that 's like live Do Wop from the streets of NYC in the early 60's. Listen to "Diane", "The Wanderer", The Majestic" by Dion and other hits as well. They fit in with Del Shannon's time line of "Runaway", "Little Town Flirt" in the time before the Beatles changed everything. Add lots Gene Pitney, "Town Without Pity", "Liberty Valance" and any of the the Motown wall of sound stuff from Detroit. The Drifters, Four Tops, Supremes, Crystals, "He's a Rebel" and all the Soul Music you can find. You get the drift. The list could go on for days. Listen & enjoy, many of your subscribers will. I know this old Hillbilly will for sure! Keep up the good work... 😊
The Amelas One
Elvis did a cover of Runaway too... I don't believe he did a cover of Roy Orbitson though. 🤨
Nice song so is Hats off to Larry. Tho to me could never compare to his huge hit Runaway
It was so popular was selling 80000 copies a day for a few weeks.
wow i have not heard this since i was in my teens and i am 72 now cool
Jeff Lynne (Electric Light Orchestra), was a big fan of Del Shannon. They recorded a fantastic version of Little Town Flirt, but never releases it on any album. However, 25 years later, it was put on anniversary album release of Discovery as one of the bonus tracks.
I LOVE DEL SHANNON, hope you react to his "Hats Off to Larry"
❤🎉Hello. Thanks ,,, I love this kind of music especially, la MÚSICA de Charles W, Westover, ( del Shannon). RIP,,, ustedes tienen buen gusto, ,,aqui en México a principios de 1962 El grupo Hermanos Carrion. Grabaron esa misma pieza de cancion llamada. " ya llegó" ( she already arrieved ) ..., Saludos desde Culiacán,. 😅😊😃👋
ELO did a cover of this as a bonus track for the "Discovery album".
Here's another artist that I think will 🤯blow you away. "Roy Clark - Malaguena" Roy Clark was an American singer and musician. He is best known for having hosted a nationally televised country variety show from 1969 -1997, But he was also a multi-instrumentalist, and was highly regarded and renowned as a guitarist, banjo player and fiddler. He was skilled in the traditions of many genres including classical guitar,, country music, Latin Music, bluegrass and Pop. I'll not say anything more so as not to interfere with your reactions. Thanks and take care~
So Iconic! Love his music!
It was another time for sure, but I miss those old songs just singing with my Mom as we listened to the radio and be riding into town in our old Oldsmobile.
Thank you for this beautiful first look at a song some of us have loved all our life. Asia & BJ, Beautiful.
You two cracked me up with the "D" on the list bit 🤣
Love BJ's backstory with his own little town flirt! lol
Right?!
Oh I love this song when I in high school. I'm 74 years old. Talk about memories!!thank you playing song,
💖💖💖
i love his hit Runaway , and by the way this song was in one of the best movies ever , American Griffiti , which is the second movie that George Lucas ever produced .
Yes, Del Shannon! This along with Runaway are my faves . So doggone GOOD!
I was 10 years old when this song came out. I really liked it then, have enjoyed through the years, and now as a 70 + year old, it is still one of my favorite songs. It is a shame that Del Shannnon fell victim to depression.
I do remember the song Runaway. I may heard this song on The Brady Bunch....😂 Don't get mad people.
Del Shannon has been a longtime favorite of mine, he was great in the 1980s as well with the Drop Down and Get Me album which was made with Tom Petty!
Great Swing song!
I know how it is BJ, you just have to take a shot even when you don't have much of a chance...Women can just turn you to pudding and then leave you cold... That's rough ...Love you guys!!!
Fun reaction, guys 😆 BJ: I'm sure you reversed the story and YOU were the "Little Town Flirt" 🤐
Sound of this record is so clean (although it's better in mono)
Now it's time to go danceable jazz.....82 Dazz Band "Let It Whip". Y'all be dancing out your chairs 😁🕊️💗
Del Shannon ''Run Away''
My mother would have gladly dumped my father for Del Shannon.
You should definitely react to Dell's classic #1 hit "Runaway" as well as his hit "Hat's Off To Larry ". They both have an instrumental part using a Musitron, which is an early version of a synthesizer. They were released in 1961 and 1962.
RIP Del. My dad's favourite singer from BITD. You guys should check out his song: 'The Prom'... 😭
mine too. I played my mom and dad's 45s more than they did. I burned them up and had to water them down for a final recording on reel to reel, which I still have. NOTHING sounds as good as Reel to Reel.
Del Shannon was great. This song may have come out in the early 60's, but the message is timeless.
You guys are awesome..
how did he sing so high? and he was purportedly a real stud with the gals, married, with divorced kids, etc. etc. just kidding................del was an angel and now he may very well be a grimey reaper...
he auditioned for a dead like me comeback special, only the outer space edition...
Great reaction!
Del Shannon was tops!!
This is my favorite del Shannon song it's sad that del Shannon committed suicide in 1990 from severe depression he took some kind of medicine for depression that didn't work and it backfired I believe del Shannon was such a talent I pray for him every year hopefully God has taken him because he was really messed up forgot what a great singer this song Little Town flirt sounds like he's crooning along it's so entertaining I love it to death and you guys are so so great in your reaction you're one of the best out there and everyone knows it thanks again for your great reaction to this great song and please pray for del Shannon what a sad loss
This takes me back to my high school days.
This is the sound of the early 60s. Very romantic songs back then. Filled with teenage angst
The Little Town Flirt is that girl that pretends she is interested in you so she can use you, just like she used you to get to your friend.
I can tell you that Asia is so beautiful and sweet, with those eyes and that smile she broke some hearts, even though she did not mean to.
You are both beautiful people and make a spectacular couple. The chemistry is so good, the reactions are real and that is why we all like to follow you, laugh with you, be surprised with you, scared with you on the movie reviews.
Late 50's early 60's vibe.
50s and 60s music is so superior to anything that followed.
It was like a quicky before work Brandon, always a good way to start the day!
...........................i like your reaction to this, your analysis is right on
Jeff Lynne and ELO !!!
i was so disappointed, i almost got to see him live but our town was one of, if not the, last concerts he played before he commited suidide :( I only missed the show due to a schedule conflict
When I was 13 there were a lotta little town flirts. I got hurt hurt hurt.
Oh no Asia, you got yourself an 'E' ;)
Can y'all react to The Band of Heathens "Hurricane "? I think y'all will like it.
Traveling Willburys
💙💜💙💜
Del Shannon and Tom Petty were best friends.
Beautiful woman 😃
Guys try - dion - I wonder why
I got hurt by the little town flirt in the short short skirt and so I fell in the dirt...
When you pretend to be into music but haven't heard Del Shannon standards.
The sad story about Del is that he committed suicide. ;-(
STOP listen to RUNAWAY .... A shame dell commited suicide over his feelings of failure for not being more sucessfull
