Del Shannon was, and still is, one of Rock's greatest superstars. R.I.P. Mr. Shannon.
My mum had an LP when I was about 8 years old 1988. I grew up listening to Del Shannon....... me and my little bro sang Runnaway at my grandads wake.....we were drunk.... my grandad would have loved it..... memories
Back in the day I don't think we were surprised at the lyrics of songs, we just sang along with them & enjoyed!
Hi Sky Blue, I agree with you. Who cared as much about the lyrics as much as the vibe and the dancing? And the sound of the organ/musitron.
@@katfinn9352personally, i almost never listening to the lyrics to be honest.
Like you said, atmosphere, vibe, melody, voice, instruments are those who i listen to
"Hats Off To Larry (1961). Was a great hit for Del Shannon. After his other monster hit "Runaway." Which you need to react to. The 60's rabbit Hole is creating a lot of fans on your channel. And fans of the 60's music decade. Always love your take on music. And why you are growing in subscriptions daily. Awesome reaction as always.
Pre Beatles Rock and Roll the best. Del Shannon a legend.
Del Shannon was as big as they come in the 1960s he had a unique voice and falcetto that could match anyone . TRY reacting to RUNAWAAY that was his best known hit . He kept going through the 80s and sadly committed suisde in 1989 .
Falsetto
The suicide was even sadder by the fact that in the 80s he was making a serious comeback because "Runaway" had been chosen for the M.Mann 60's cop show _Crime Story._
1990
@@dphalanx7465suicide???
He was died by longtime alcohol drinking
I don't think the .22 bullet Del very sadly shot himself with helped! If he'd known millions of people thought so much about him and how sad he would make them then perhaps he may have had a change of heart!, Rip Del...You made so many people very very happy!
The title track of that album, Runaway, is brilliant !
Gosh…you guys are reacting to all my favorites.
*RUNAWAY is his HUGE HIT!*
Another from Dell my little runaway
Other big songs from Del Shannon include "Runaway", "Keep Searchin'", and "The Big Hurt".
I was a teen in the 60s. There was not a teenage boy of that period that couldn't relate to this song.
The message in the songs, no matter the era, are the same. Very cool reaction!
The lyrics were important back then, but this was dance music!
Love how you are reacting to and enjoying the songs of my early childhood
Del Shannon is lit!!! I recommend Runaway and Keep Searching by him
Yeh Keep Searchin' was a good one too.
I was 10. Loved it! My brother was 20 and he's, d always let me listen to his records with him.
One of my favorites of his was "Keep Searchin' (We'll Follow the Sun)"
This song is more fire than people ever understand
Wow, I haven't heard him in years! I Remember him though and some of his songs.
Great reaction, I used to listen to this and similar songs like this as a kid in the 70s on my parent's record player. If you haven't already, please try "Rhythm of the Rain" by The Cascades.
Watched your reaction to the Platters and how much you loved them. My favorite song since I was 7 was the Flamingos, I Only Have Eyes For You
Great Song. Pure Melancholy. Sad Life!
You will like "Little Town Flirt" by Del Shannon, the female background group is great.
Ah, yes. Del Shannon - Little Town Flirt.
He was one of the few artists that competed with the British envision!
You have to do - runaway and also - little town flirt
Little Town Flirt is my favorite song of his. They think the lyrics in this song are shady!?!??
Love Del Shannon, Love this song! You should react to his song "Little Town Flirt."
He is a balladeer/Rocker!
If you thought this one was shocking, listen to the Beau Brummels "Laugh, Laugh." They pull no punches in that song toward a girl who was two-timing.
I hope that somewhere Del Shannon is watching your reaction to this. He would love it.
Next one from Del Shannon - Runaway .. 😎👍
I was in a local cover band in Canada in the late sixties . WE loved playing Runaway. I really like Del Shannon songs. There are videos of him performing live were you see that he loved to perform.
He wrote hits for others, such as Go to Pieces for Peter and Gordon
Great record 😀
Del Shannon’s voice was fantastic - as soon as you heard his voice you would know who was singing !😻🎶☮️
You two catch on to lyrics so fast...I am impressed.
It's called poetic justice! She cheated on him and broke his heart . . . and now she's on the receiving end. Loved Del Shannon in the 60s.
So true, watch who you hurt!
Few give credence anymore to the teen angst of the early 1960s. Nowadays kids aren't sure of their "gender" and which bathroom to use. Heavy!
React to Loving You by Minnie Riperton
Yes, I was around and if I remember correctly, I had the same reaction you did. Also, when he hits those high notes. Wow! Another song that has a singer that goes up there is Lou Christie's Lightning Striking Again.
Runaway from him is a great song.
One thing about the 50s and the 60s, there was a song about any situation a boy and a girl could have.
need to check out "runaway" for sure, that was a huge hit for him, his biggest
Great lyrics with one of the greatest singers of time....
Another feel good song,Sweet City Woman by The STAMPEDERS live on The Midnight Special,1973.
Little town flirt is in the same world of Hats off to Larry, only that Del is warning guys about the girl.
Charles Westover a.k.a.
Del Shannon was one of the most influential musicians of his time. He wrote, sang, and played guitar. Most of Dels songs were written from his own life experiences.
Very cool
I love your channel. So fun ☺
I love how you both react and love this music. You feel it!
love del shannon. great early rock.
I have always liked this song but reaction was great. I had to watch your reaction twice and laughed each time.
I was 10 andI still love it at 72.
You guys just do the best reactions!!!
1 more fan. Y'all are awesome
You guys make me smile. A rare feit!❤Thankyou
This sounds like the flip-side to Connie Francis "Whatever Happened to Rose Marie?"
I knew of Del Shannon principally through "Runaway", but this song is good, too.
Love that you're reacting to songs from the 50's and 60's. Please do some Doris Day: We'll Love Again, Autumn Leaves, Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars.
Del had an amazing unique voice. Back when songs had a story to them. Great for getting over a breakup
"Operator" by Jim Croce now?
Really fast, like Del Shannon? Hahahaha
Never gets tired
Huge hit maker!
I have been listening to & enjoying this song for about 60 years (dear Lord has it been that long?) but seeing your reactions added a new dimension of enjoyment to it for me.
Thanks guys, God Bless.
We all have those kinds of feelings when badly hurt. We’re all human.
We loved that song because whether you were male or female, you could relate to the hurt, lol.
Love you too You listen to to music You listen to lyrics great 👍 👌 ❤️
His song runaway is the shit. Back in the very early 60's that rocked. I'm guessing it was a fusion of do wop and rockabilly ? Either way it is a staple in classic rock.
Del Shannon, a tragic soul but glad he was here to share his musical gifts with us.
Very great indeed when Max Crook adds insult to injury with his Musitron. Del's music in a way was paranoid talking about the betrayals and wanting to get even. This song like "Runaway" was also ahead of its time when synthesizers weren't yet a part of Rock Music. Del Shannon was the man that electrified Pop Music because he established that sound.
We didn’t worry too much about the lyrics back then - it was the beat & whether you could dance to it😊
You folks are fun, fun, fun and your videos rock.
When men in the 60's tipped their hats it was a sign of respect...
Love this song.
Del was great!
I love his song Runaway from this album.
Didn't scroll through all the comments, but I didn't see any mention of Del Shannon's "Little Town Flirt".....another great song!
Del was a legend. 😂 Larry didn't want that P
They should react to his song "lil town flirt"!
Del's keeping his options open on this one!
This is a great old song!
Great song. Can you react to another great singer who can do great falsetto, Lou Christie singing"Lightning Strikes"?
I was just about to make that request as well.
Del was such an influential pioneer of rock 'n' roll that the legendary Tom Petty paid tribute to him in Tom's song, "Runnin' Down A Dream".
Del Shannon was considered as a replacement for Roy Orbison in The Traveling Wilburys. But he died also around that time.
@@virolo1960 And he would have been wonderful. Another powerful voice. Thanks for your reply.
I guess he figured she'd never learn except by seeing her own callousnees out in the real world.
These songs back in the early 60s captured the angst of being so young and experiencing things like this story.
I was thinking that he should be careful if she comes back because she likes to run away, which leads into the other hit Run Away, which actually came out first. Have you reacted to that one yet ? Listen also to Dion doing The Wanderer and Run Around Sue, which are also connected the way these two by Del Shannon are .
Del Shannon was a legend.. RIP
I used to have a boyfriend named Larry who dumped me for his ex. Hats off to Larry. The best thing that ever happened to me.
you guys would love "one fine day" by the chiffons! 1963
Another, more recent, "In you face" song is Toby Keith's "How Do You Like Me Now?"
Larry is my boy!
My favorite is still Little town flirt
this song is a real example of karma, what comes around goes around.
Lol Del Shannon was PETTY. I love singing his songs with my dad. 😂
The organ sounds like instrumental Telstar, early 60s I think
Reminds me of "Goody Goody" but The Teenagers
Y'all need to check out My Girl Josephine by Fats Domino
Two song you must hear in order to understand a little bit about early song sounds. MR. BASS MAN ,1963 by Johnny Cymbal , and WHO PUT THE BOMP ? 1961 by Barry Mann , ❤ Audrey
Yes...all that was going on back in the day 😉
You NEED to listen to Del Shannon "Little Town Flirt " !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Runaway by Del is a great song.
You've got to do "Runaway " next!
I would like to see your reaction to Happy Anniversary by Little River Band and also their song Lonesome Loser.
Runaway please
I thought you would've done Runaway first. Plz do. Awesome reaction guys.
