@Jakester call me old but not a fan, turbo sounds like more work and issues, harder to work on it and the screen seems like a distraction till it stops working, then your screwed. Atleast if the 23 craps out you can replace it with an aftermarket unit. 23 has more than enough for me, I'm not racing to work so power is irrelevan.

Everyone’s got an opinion on the Tacoma - it’s sort of a divided truck. Either it’s loved or it’s hated. I agree that the refresh is needed, and I hope that more power and torque will be added since that’s what the customers want, however I think that Toyota did a good job back in 2015/16 designing this vehicle. It still looks modern enough 7 years later. I have a 2nd gen Tacoma so I’m pretty disconnected to all the conversations and arguments over the 3rd gen. Personally I don’t think anything will ever replace the simplicity of the first two generations and wouldn’t give up my old-school 2nd gen for anything else. I like Toyotas however I also love stuff built by a bunch of other brands. I like older designs, however I know that most people want progress, and they hopefully will get it next year.

Thanks for the review, I love my 3rd gen, they are extremely capable in off road, and also extremely durable and reliable, I have TOO many reservations on the gen 4, for the longevity…anytime you put a small motor, then try to wring n squeeze every ounce of power out of it with a turbo???? No, just ASKING for drivetrain problems..either engine, transmission, or turbo…the weakest link will fail…not a recipe for 3-400,000 trouble free miles..but..it’s Toyota..so..time will be the test..even the gen 4 fit the 1st 5 years, were ironing out the wrinkles…

True, but prior to the Colorado redesign, pretty much every midsize truck was pretty old and low tech. So reliability plays a large role in the segment.

@@theshowmaster3836 It's subjective and I know it may be an unpopular opinion but I like the redesigned GM twins and the gladiator a bit more. I understand Toyota has a reputation for reliability but I personally value technology and innovation a bit more. If the bare bones of your vehicle are a decade or so old my thought process is just buy a used one, it's essentially the same.

I understand your opinion and respect it. I also value technology and interior design over reliability. That’s why I haven’t bought a Tacoma. Too low tech for me. I apologize if I sounded condescending. The way you phrased your comment made it sound like you were one of those Chevy/Ford fanboys

@@theshowmaster3836 Nothing but respect for you brother. I didn't mean to come off like that. I don't value the opinions of anyone who blindly follows a brand just for the sake of it. When I purchase something as expensive as a vehicle I want it to be as balanced as possible. Decent reliability, modern tech, modern design, etc. Toyota slays it with hybrid tech and reliability but I just can't justify buying a Tacoma or 4runner with their current age.
