THE GREATEST FRONTMAN of all time. Never get bored at an Angels concert. Love this band. They were a part of my life, never be able to forget this awesome band.
If I have one regret in life then it is not to go up and give Doc a big hug when I had the chance. Everybody knows that I was such a huge Doc fan, and I didn't do it. I was too shy because he was/is such a hero. Regrets I have a few.
I agree strongly with the last comment Doc was definitely the greatest frontman of all time even at an International level ,the Angels is the Band that should have been as big as ACDC and would have if they had stayed with Alberts. Doc and the Brewsters kick Fxxxxxx ass.
Well said bud a great rock n roll front man a lot of people didn't realize he'd been to Vietnam and back by his 21st a real proud digger didn't agree with it but he did his service lest we forget
In fighting, poor business decisions, constant line up changes. All own goals that retarded the development of the band. It's been covered well by a couple of documentaries.
As far as I am concerned, the greatest combination of outstanding lyrics, musical composition, unique voice of Doc and pure energy from the best Aussie pub band EVER! Love them still 😎
I had the pleasure of seeing them live once here in Seattle one of the best shows I’ve ever seen in my whole life doc was the man may he rest in peace😎♥️
I started collecting vinyl records in 1987. I had never heard of this band. Bought this album and I couldn't quit playing it. I was amazed I'd never heard of them before. Being a punk rock fan this album was right in my wheelhouse.
@@joblot8463 that would of been un real i only just seen the angels a couple of years ago with dave gleeson their new singer since the sad passing of doc neeson the crowd was just amazing and the band still rocked yeah
Absolute legend, Space Waltz definitely one of NZs top acts from 70s. The bloke is still heavily involved in the Kiwi music industry....top tune this one. RIP Doc.
Adelaide band.....in the 80's we would be there at the Bombay Bicycle Club in Hindley street to dance the night away to this great band. A great night was guaranteed when the Angles were back home. Next night could be Chisel or INXS.....great times.
Never heard of Chisel but Angel City and INXS I used listen to on the radio here in the Seattle, Washington area. 99.9 FM KISW had Angel City on a decent rotation and I remember well hearing Face The Day (what a bad ass song even now in 2024 it's no less of a relevant song and in '82 when I was 17yo it was almost my anthem), Fashion and Fame, and {take me away!} to Marseille..... I think perhaps AC⚡DC sort of beat down a path on the US radio market and therefore the vinyl album sales market, it may have influenced the powers that be and strong persuasion was unnecessary at least for a time. But enough of that, the reason I took the time to leave a comment is I read a bunch that expressed genuine love and appreciation for their front man Doc and the music they all made for their fans, in particular all you Aussies down under who sound like a great bunch to party with. Not schmoozing anyone.....where I'm from is so real it real. Go far enough west and you'll be east again....which is why birds migrate north and south only. Period. Alright then mate it's getting late, cheers for now
You were the Fashion and The Fame DOC ,u rocked our parties when the parents went out,so sad too see band had drama,s life too short for all that ,never forget you my idol .RIP DOC.
Heard this song on the car radio of a good buddy's old, restored Galaxy 500, visiting him in Bowie, TX over Spring Break in '81 or '82, back when the song was new and radio still worth a good goddamn. I had "Night Attack" on vinyl not long after that. Bless you for posting this and all of you with taste enough to love this music.
RIP to one of Australia's finest rock musicians seems like all the greats are gone now. Gone to join "The Great Gig In The Sky" cant wait to see you all there especially you Doc longlive Loveline my childhood wouldnt be the same without you. Xx
As far as frontmen went, Doc was (at the very least) the equal of Freddy, IMO. Such a great performer and a great band. Fashion and fame from my favourite Angels album - Night attack.
Gawd I love this song! I'm an Aussie that grew up with this band amongst others. I moved to the USA in 1999 and haven't been able to return since. Still terribly homesick. Thank the gods for youtube and Liberation Music for uploading this!
I’m on a mix thing here I’ve seen Marty Stuart, Glen Campbell, Lionel Richie, and this came up. I love the fact good music is good music no matter the genre.❤
I love this song & I love how watching these clips just takes me straight back to 1978/79 etc. What a great feeling. Memories of gigs that can't be compared to anything. No re-uniting of any band is the same as the original line-up/s & seeing the band/s in their heyday. Thank you for sharing this with all of us. :)
I notice nobody calls them Angel City; I know they changed for legal reasons I guess but I listened to them most when they were Angel City. You hit on an interesting point about bands in their prime as opposed to reuniting. I try to pull up concerts of various bands on youtube and find your point valid. If you get a concert closest to the years of the albums and songs you want to hear the bands still have an obvious drive or belief in what they are doing; an artistic flair if you will. Down the road the play the songs but are drained of energy and cool that was generated by the era the songs were released.
One of Those Songs about the Ups and Downs of The Music Industry. Every Artist in Music History has gone thru this... Even Elvis went thru it in his Early Vegas Appearances in '56, when nobody turned-up.
The Angels (and the American audience) were really short changed by bad management decisions and US record executives who had no idea how to handle The Angels. Do yourself a favour and hunt down original Australian recordings.
One of my favorite songs & bands when I was younger. The title of this song was the inspiration for the same title of my own song entitled "Fashion & Fame"...
@musicman5440 To avoid the confusion with an american band called The Angels, their producer has decided to change in Angel City for the european market, but in Australia they were called The Angels. At the present time they are called The Angels.
I loved the angels soundtrack to my youth lost count how many times I seen them live they should have had more of a crack overseas but we got to enjoy them more at narara84 they where in there prime R I P doc a true frontman
ok, being the first ... all i can say is ... THIS IS ONE OF THE VERY BEST SONGS THEY EVER MADE ... love it cranked up to 110DB ... the most underrated OZ rockers STRIKE! awesome track!
The Doc had it all over Mick Jagger and so did The Angels - charisma, looks and cool. There are plenty of f*ckin awesome Angels songs which thanks to Aussie sucked arse media at the time didn't travel as far (eg world wide). By memory "Fashion and Fame" was released at the same time as D Bowies "Fashion" and they kept playing Bowies song on the radio. At 11 years old I remember being p1ssed off about it.
Always loved their music, great band. Luckily I got to see them in concert once. That guitarist always amazed me how he barely moved but was a great guitarist.
+toni tight Peter Garrett's just another Poli and Midnight Oil's music has always been meaningless propaganda! Doc was the greatest and I'd put Mark Hunter before anyone else! Haven't seen Gleeso front them.
Did you mean Dave Gleeson of Screaming Jets / Angels notoriety ? Known affectionately as Gleeso, Dave is one of the most genuine and down to Earth people in Australian Rock.
Only one the greatest bands ever to come from Australia. Been listening to Doc and the boys since 1978, seen them a dozen times at least, they never get old. RIP Doc 🌹

1:02 -- Always loved that acoustic guitar that sounds like a clavichord in the first two verses. Or is that just an illusion to my ears, and it's really the electrics creating that sound? Would love to hear the engineer's take on the construction of this song!
This band is such an important part of Aussie rock culture!! I just couldn't imagine growing up without them!!
Not just Aussie rock culture...They set a very high standard for the World.
Raw and wild ! Loved Doc! No American rock can hold a candle to our rock music !

Still, it served a purpose that I never missed out on that hug ever again.

It's a crime this band wasn't more popular, and didn't get more airplay.

Saw these guys live at the Darwin Amphitheatre in the early 90s, they were still going strong!
I saw this band live about 20 times. One of the best ever and didn't get the credit they deserve
Grant Bowen yer saw them plenty of times at Selena’s at Coogee 👌👌

Had the distinct pleasure of seeing them on tour in the spring of 1982 in Calgary Alberta. Missing Persons were the opening act. Great show!
That sounds so fucking cool!
great frontman , great band.
Could listen to the angels all day. Great aussie band

Australia's greatest hard rock band. There was another good Aussie rock band but they pissed off overseas somewhere.
