search up john butler funky tonight... he's got bloody talent no offence to mark he's a great guitarist but he is only playing chords when he is singing
The problem with singing and playing is not about the chords, it's all abouth RYTHM. The right hand is what matters. If you pay attention, John Butler is always fingering a fast and repeated pattern when he's singing, except for a slower riff at some point. Nothing different than what Mark Knopfler is doing. They're both great musicians. Talent? I'd say it's more about practice till perfection. Also, Mark is left-handed but his right hand is incredible. Peace.
I'd be honored if some Dire Straits fans would take a quick listen to my acoustic piano & vocal YT performance of ON EVERY STREET in tribute to the genius songwriting of Mark Knopfler. Live acoustic with no autotune or digital editing. Peace and stay safe in the '020s.

Technically that “Nashville” style of voicing chords and coloring solos was manifested by none other than the master, Chet Atkins. Mark’s guitar hero. With the exceptions of Andres Segovia, David Lindley and perhaps Chets’ student, Jerry Reed, none come close. I prefer Marks’ work over the rest because of the era I came of age. Rock on!

So true! You summed up this song perfectly
Yeah... but do you know what the song is about? It's a true story. Read the back-story on this song, then listen to it again. I PROMISE you will be hearing this song in a whole new light--as if for the very first time! (You won't be disappointed either...)
What about the sound guys the roadies the people who built the amps the engineers the luthiers the miners who got the metal the lumberjacks, Pythagoreas, and what about the cavemen who first played their bow as a harp why don't those people ever get credit either. That's what I'm wondering.
The guys a natural. Love watching him play
As I become older the more i appreciate this song, calling it a masterpiece would be an understatement
1000% in agreement with you and 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍....and going on...

Excellent guitar play accompanied by an excellent bassline that you can hear punch through the mix.
There really isn't anything to dislike about the song.

Long time no hear! Grew up in the 60-70’s. I protested the war until a friend died, never protested again. I ended up joining the military madness (Air Force) in 1974 & stayed for 20 years. I still lost friends, but it is what it is. Now it’s Dec.2024. I copped out & joined the establishment. Life is good. Peace & Love to everyone that grew up in those turbulent years. The best part was the sex, drugs & rock-n-roll.
Peace & Love, Daniel
2024 and still one of the best guitar tracks ever written
as a guitarist i can confirm :)
@@everybodypomarancze9355 I play too - this was to tough for me tho
not everyone can play guitar AND sing like that, mark has a talent
search up john butler funky tonight... he's got bloody talent
no offence to mark he's a great guitarist but he is only playing chords when he is singing
Peace.

They're relaxed because they're not actually playing. They are syncing to the studio recording.
Practice, no ego and trust in each other my friend!

the style of picking, he is one of the best! Pure & natural.❤❤❤
something weird happens at 2:37 tho, its like they speed it up
@@GoulashKroket glad to know someone noticed it, my guesses are either because the video is a bit old or Knopfler on the filming of the clip sped up on his playing so they've got to compensate in the editing

Knopfler's style of finger picking is in a LEAGUE of its own. Legendary. Super nice guy too. Very humble, but one HELLUVA musician. Could listen to him play all day long.
Rock on!

For years I've been complaining how radio stations keep cutting of the last solo on this track so I never get to hear the best part of this absolutely brilliant track - and now I find out DireStraitsVEVO does the same?! WTF? This track is missing the final (and best) minute - why on earth would you cut that off? The song was too awesome intact?
Because the videos are not uploaded with the enjoyment of listeners in mind. Pretty stupid.
Yeah, but still. It would've required extra effort to create this incomplete and inferior version. Why go to the trouble?
