The Creeper is hands down the most frightening and formidable horror creature ever. This movie is good asf when you accept that you’re watching a movie for entertainment and you realize dumb decisions MUST BE MADE for the movie to happen 😂 R.I.P. Derry
This movie is underrated and overlooked because of its creator. That sick SOB.
but dumb decisions don't need to be made for a movie to happen. it's just dumb writers.
that's the thing that always frightened me, is that the creator thought of a movie like this.
don't get me wrong, it is one of my top 5 horror movies on my list, but just to think that a sick SOB would think of a villain like the Creeper.

Jazelle (the psychic woman) looked at Trish bc she didn’t know how to tell Darry that he was the one hearing the song while screaming in the dark. In an alternate version you can hear Darry screaming as the camera gets close at the end. It was always going to be Darry bc of what he saw.
This movie ranks as #1 for me due to sentimental value alone. I remember watching this with my father when I was around 4-5 and it stuck with me. Also made me distrustful of country roads.

@49:00, that was the sad part after all of that the Creeper still killed Darry. It not only removes his eyes it removed his brain. That’s why you can see all the way through his head at the end.
Supposedly there is material out there that describes the whole movie but from the Creepers perspective. When it goes after a victims eyes it begins it’s work while they are still alive. So the last moments for Darry were horrific and painful.
Jeez I know he was in pain because of the screaming but I never thought this…. Which is why I can never watch the ending when he screams it’s to painful to hear and I’m 23
I always felt so bad for Derry. He really seemed like a funny and chilled dude. Derry didn't deserve his fate. But he and his sister's downfall was getting involved into something that they just had no business getting involved it. But the irony is that as some of the commentors have pointed it, Derry was destined to die regardless. We, the audience feel helpless. Imagine Derry's last moments alive, knowing full well that no one was coming to save him. You just hear this man's screaming for his life, all the while we don't actually see what was being done to him. Its the not knowing that makes it all the more horrifying. What made it worse was that Derry was still alive while the Creeper was cutting into him from the back of the head and all until he got what he wanted: His eyes.
Jezelle knew Darry was the one who would be hearing Jeepers Creepers while screaming in the dark. She looked at Trish because she was trying to spare Darry from knowing his unfortunate conclusion.

This may not be one of the best horror movies out there, but for me it's one of the most nostalgic. It's a warm summer night in 2002. School just ended a couple of weeks ago so you have nearly your entire break ahead of you still. Your parents have just gone to bed and you and your friend are scrolling through the TV guide for something to watch when you stumble upon this. Without a care in the world you watch as the Creeper ruins their lives and becomes apart of yours forever.
If only the Creeper hadn't been brought to life by a slimeball. He could've been a true Horror Icon up there with Freddy, Jason, Michael and Chucky.

The unique thing about this movie is the monster got away with the victim. In most cases the monster get killed or at least stopped.
This a classic fr. This one of the first movies I seen that actually has a fully staffed police station when u went there for help. Even the diner was packed with customers when it's usually empty in most movies. It's the little things that made this horror movie realistic. They definitely should have stayed with the group of cops instead of running off alone, that shit was dumb af 😆
The song Jeepers Creepers is really old like from the 1930’s I think Louis Armstrong sang it

derry’s fate couldn’t have been avoided. it wouldn’t have mattered if he went back to help that one guy or not, creeper knew his car and later his scent and that lady had already seen his death in her dreams. he got chosen over trish because he was more afraid than she was. the creeper can smell fear. the minute trish tried to give her life for derry’s, you knew he was a goner.
The creeper chose darry because he showed so much fear from seeing the creeper's lair. The creeper probably came back and realized someone was in his lair

Darry was so full of fear after seeing all those bodies in the cellar and that's what the Creeper picked up on.

The monster creates this "artwork" but he can't see it. So of course he wants Darry's eyes because Darry was the one who saw his church and now he wants to see it too. That's why he's sniffing everything the whole time -- he can't see. But he can smell the trauma coming off the person who saw his house of pain. The psychic couldn't look Darry in the eye and tell him the truth so she looked at Trish out of pity. I think the film has a deeper meaning about victims and the personality type of people that predators go after. It's also ironic because he also got our eyes in also sense because we watched the movie. It's like a commentary on rich and powerful people -- they steal our eyeballs by throwing headlines at us...by controlling the media. When he looks at us at the camera at the end,he's looking at us. The director is dropping some bombs with this film.

They used the old car because when they try to restart it , the scene will look more intense because it won't start that easily.
I wouldn't go back to the church, especially when you know your going to see some disturbing shit that's gonna be in your mind later on.

They had car chargers even in the '90s so I would have stayed where I was and started charging the phone. It would have only taken a few minutes to charge enough to call 9-11.

Yes they did! I was in junior high when this came out. Thing is is that I can't help but love Justin Long and I didn't want anything bad to happen to him lol. Imagine my surprise at the end there when the creeper Flys off with him 🤣🤣
People really annoy me with the whole “this movie is bad because characters make mistakes” or “this movie has plot holes because characters make mistakes” both make no sense. Knowing this guy has liked movies in the past where characters made “dumb” decisions. And obviously watching a movie characters would do things you wouldn’t do that’s literally how movies have been since the beginning.
I wouldn't have went back to find out what he was doing because you could see that he was getting rid of some dead people. It's crazy to take a chance of meeting him, while you were driving. I have watched these movies a lot and the movie is scary.

To answer your question about whether or not I'd go back after being ran off the road. HELL NO. on Airplanes they always tell you to secure your own mask before helping others. I'm not going back there without the cops or someone other than ME lol

Curiosity can be dangerous and especially when you know that you shouldn't be nosey.
To be fair, Dary didn't go back out of curiosity, but because he couldn't just leave if there was a chance someone was alive and needed help. If it had worked, he would be hailed as a hero. I say, thank goodness there are still heroes out there. :)
I liked this movie but thought it was good. You definitely have to check out the 2nd one. Oh fun fact they got they idea for this movie from an episode of the old tv show Unsolved Mysteries. There was a couple driving a n the country just like Darry and Trish and they saw guy stuff a body down a Church pipe. Crazy shit
A couple quick things, the car is a 1960 Impala, I love that car. Secondly, since you mentioned Kane, the wrestler, check out the Hatchet movies, more of a slasher but he's insane in that.
The Creeper chose Derry over Trish because Trish has vision problems. Go back and watch the beginning of the movie very carefully and you will see Trish holding a pair of glasses in her hand, They literally tell you at the beginning of the movie which one is going to be taken while also setting you up to think it will be Trish that is taken.

That boy did not need to go back in order to do the right thing at the start, keep driving get to the next town and just call police then carry on your way. If they don't do their job right from there that isn't on you. The call was made and the creepy guy was reported, you can't save anyone if your also dead
The whole going back to check on the bodies part happened in real life. Look up the crime of "Dennis DePue". It's not a "fault" in the movie. Gezelle never said he wanted Trish.

i just rewatched all 3 of these with my boyfriend this week! Lol We started on Monday, i didn't even know you were planning to, as well.🖖 the first one came out when i was 11/12, and once that wing popped out, it went down as one of my all-time favorites.

If Darry had gone back and actually managed to save someone, people would call him a hero instead of saying he was stupid for going back. For my part, I say the kid was a good guy for at least trying. And, let's be real -- I don't think he ever considered he might have to deal with an insane demon creature from hell, lol! Also, in a lot of movies like this, people think it is unreal when people are frozen in fear or don't fight back, but that's actually a very realistic portrayal, as situations that are that terrifying automatically triggers the fight-or-flight response in the brain, and not everyone's natural tendency is to fight; freezing is an old lizard-brain tactic to not be seen or appear threatening, and sometimes it even works! Unfortunately for Darry, that was not one of those times. I say kudos to Justin Long as Darry, because that damn terrified look on his face for the majority of the movie was VERY believable, and fear is known as one of the most difficult emotions to portray realistically when acting. This movie put him on the map for me; he's a very good, and underrated, actor. Great reaction, by the way; LOVE your scared moments. :)

One thing that's never mentioned even in the commentary version is how the bodies landed so far from the pipe when the creeper was throwing them down there especially the ones he threw down the pipe when the kids seen him do it cause he started chasing them immediately after so he didn't have time to go down there and move them
The sequel is my favorite!! Can’t wait for you to watch that one! I like it better than this one. ☺️

I would make the excuse that it was pure shock that kept them from driving right away when the Creeper killed the cops on the highway. Then the many cops at the end likewise froze as well as thought they had the Creeper cornered in that room that was high off the ground so to risk shooting Darry or not played in their mind since they didn't realize he could fly till just before he took flight. Darry going back to the old Church is something some kid may do out there, just not the majority of us lol.
The sequel is good as well but after that it went down hill. The remake last year was terrible.
I am simply not one of the people who can separate what an an artist does from their art. The director of this kids destroyed so many lives. It’s a shame because I would call the creeper the best movie monster we have gotten in at least 50 years

It needs hearts to live and eyes to see. The woman who called them is psychic Jezelle Gay Hartman who tells them it awakens every 23rd spring for twenty-three days to feast on human body parts, which then form parts of its own body. She also tells them that it seeks out its victims through fear, and by smelling the fear from Trish and Darry, it has found something it likes.
The movie is set in 2001 I believe.
That would also be acetone on the bodies after watching enough Netflix murder documentaries pick up a thing here and there

Im sorry to say this 😂 i have seen mostly every relevant horrror to date - This is and will be the only thing in Hystory, No.1 horror movie in the world and nothing has ever come close to it 😢 If only Blumhouse or someone adopted the franchise😢 - The Creepers is hands down No.1 fr me
This was a cute horror film but clearly “of its time.”
Audiences are much more savvy and scrutinizing post 2010s, we expect smart and skilled protagonists who we feel good about rooting for.

I'm going to respectfully disagree with you on that one. And, if today's audiences are much savvier, I would argue that they are only so as audiences; however, if they found themselves in this same situation, I am pretty sure they'd behave a heck of a lot more like Trish and Darry -- confused as hell and scared beyond reason -- and, I say the film holds up perfectly because deep down inside, all you young "savvy" individuals know this to be true. ;)

Either way Darry’s death is inevitable, people forget the creeper is a hunter who hunts his prey by smelling their fear. Right in the opening scene when the creeper drives up behind him he got a smell of someone’s fear that he liked in the car hence why he is hunting them the whole movie to figure out who’s fear he smelt
