I think this is some of Snipes' best acting, personally. He fully embodied the character, with that voice and the mannerisms. Unduplicatable, in my opinion.
This was iconic for me when it came out (I was about 12 at the time). Because of this and Blade II, he shot to one of my favorite superheroes/anti-heroes, right next to Deadpool, Wolverine, and Batman. And he remains Top 5 to this day. Blade's a straight-up savage.

Blade's mother was bit, but did not turn. So Blade had the vampire virus transmitted through the mother, who was not actually a vampire. Blade managed to get the benefits of vampires; strength, speed, healing, etc but only one of the weaknesses. He still has the thirst for blood. He finds alternatives to actually drinking from humans.

My grandfather was in charge of the transportation coordination of Wesley’s trailer and other things to make sure he had a comfortable stay abroad filming. It's probably been said already, but a Hematologist is a doctor who specializes in blood deficiencies and disorders (for example, I am v anemic and I see a hematologist regularly)- exactly the right person to find a cure for herself and Blade. Also, people seem to love the Underworld movies, but Blade and Blade 2 are far superior films imo. No shade to Mahershala Ali, but Wesley Snipes was, is, and always will be Blade. I would 100% buy him playing Blade today, right now. He totally embodies that character.

The continued references to Twilight Vamps, I'll keep opinions to myself, but you ABSOLUTELY need to check out some legit Vampire classics like the original Bram Stokers, Queen of the Damned, Interview with a Vampire, even John Carpenters Vampires, and The Lost Boys.
Anyone's welcome to add to the list of epic Vampire hits that came out before.
I remember seeing this opening weekend with my dad and it instantly shot up as a favorite and Vampire classic in my mind. Mahershala Ali is a damn fine actor and will see how the story goes, but Snipes IS Blade in my eyes and will be an uphill journey to top this first on screen badassery he brought to the character.

Blade is an anti-hero in Marvel comics. He first appeared in Tomb Of Dracula #10, 1973 written by Marv Wolfman and drawn by Gene Colan. He wasn't half- vampire/half-human or what they call a dampir. He was just immune to vampirism because his mother was bitten by a vampire while she was pregnant. He became a dampir when Michael Morbius was a genetically designed vampire bit him. Morbius wasn't an undead vampire or natural vampire so Blade wasn't immune to his bite. Blade didn't have a leather trenchcoat & black sunglasses when he first appeared. He had a green jacket, green googles,, brown pants, a bandiler with wood and steel knives on it, & an afro. The look he has now came out in the early 1990s. He's also been a part of several superhero teams like the Avengers & the supernatural team called the Nightstalkers which was a team consisting of the supernatural & horror characters of the Marvel universe like Doctor Strange, Ghost Rider (Danny Ketch), Johnny Blaze (without the Ghost Rider spirit), Blade, Michael Morbius, & a character who will appear in the Blade movies with Blade Trinity Hannibal King who in the comics was a vampire hunter bit by a vampire but is a good guy. Hannibal King hates being a vampire like Blade does & rejects the bloodlust unlike other vampires. These characters are banded together to fight Lilith who is the mother of all supernatural creatures including vampires. It was a big storyline in the 1990s. It was one of my favorite comics in the 1990s. My brother's favorite supernatural character in Marvel is Ghost Rider while mine is Blade.

Music, choreography and characters were all phenomenal...!
I like that they were specific in making the serum red and the EDT vampire exploder liquid blue.
Meant that the vampires assumed the blue stuff was the serum, thereby they didn't care enough
to actually destroy it because of how big a threat it was to them.
I do prefer the second film, I think it was bigger & better, but this original is still a classic.
I haven't seen any of the Wesley Snipes films you mention, but I have seen Passenger 57, Money Train, Boiling Point,

Blade was the first comic book film to have box office success. Blade 2 is also as good as this part however, Blade 3 is not as good. The only thing that ever disappointed me with these movies is when they cancelled the crossover with Underworld. They had talks with them about it and everything, even began writing the script, but in the end politics between production companies got in the way. Watching Blade fight alongside Selene would have been the best thing ever.
There is a point, you should watch the Underworld movies next....thats a saga and a half right there.

Wesley Snipes started the whole concept of rated R Marvel movies. wish they stuck with it, instead of putting it on hold until Deadpool and Logan.
