- Wonderful sounding track, great dynamics and layers to it, but also a really great lyric, although I find it hard to process lyrics when I'm casually listening. Oleta Adams sounds blissfully soulful on this, and her story of discovery is quite incredible too. I do really like going through phases of listening to The Seeds of Love album, and its predecessor, and I'm in one at the moment. I just think TFF is/was a great band/duo who wrote great songs. My favourite from this album is Advice For The Young At Heart, but I thought there was more scope for guitar on this one first. I try to bring out some of the synth lines throughout as well as add a couple of parts here and there. Hope you enjoy!

I use a Charvel DK24 into my Boss Me50 going into a Palmer Pdi-09, plugging direct into my interface. I use Logic Pro where I add a little reverb, EQ and also some stereo pitch detune and delays.

My favorite song
As a kid I grew up a huge guitar nerd/fan in the '80s, big into metal/hard rock. We took a vacation to Florida when I was like 11 or 12. On the beach, a bar was blasting "Shout" as loud as they could get it, and those guitar parts got me hooked on TFF. Then I got into other stuff like Genesis, Police, Mike & The Mechanics. Great times.

Thanks for all your interesting chord voicings! I loved that album when it came out, and I agree that Advice is a great song. I was fortunate to hear them on that tour with Oleta and came away very impressed with the whole experience!
Brilliant stuff, so tastefully done and with great sound as usual, it really does justice to this wonderful song. On a side note for anyone who isn’t aware, Roland and Curt were in a hotel in Kansas when they heard a then unknown Oleta Adams singing and playing piano in the bar, and so impressed were they by her talents they got her to sing on their 1989 Seeds of Love album and this launched her solo career. Great stuff.

I usually re-visit your Leppard stuff from time to time, but was intrigued when I saw a TFF entry, and one of my fave TFF songs to boot. As usual, I've replayed it several times to enjoy and appreciate how you illuminate and bring attention to guitar work that I've missed in years of listening to these songs. This was such a treat!

Wow, it’s hard to believe it’s been an entire year since you uploaded this cover. Time sure flies by fast. That being said, this is my all time favorite cover from you. I love the clean parts you added to the song and the outro solo is so beautiful. I’ve always loved this song. It’s not only one of my favorite tears for fears songs but it’s in my top 5 favorite duet songs of all time. I just love how Roland and Oleta’s voice blend together so well.
