    Matt your 100 percent correct I’ve seen this a number of times over the years first car was a jtd fiat 2 local dealers looked at it couldn’t fix it car started and run for 2 seconds then stopped was being choked on its own dirty air, dealer had replaced maf meter because they didn’t understand why the measurement of air was incorrect we see most manufacturers with this fault at some stage.

      I was asked to fit a high pressure fuel pump on this one, I wanted to do my own testing first. Glad I did because I found it an interesting case study. Cheers Matt

    I've had this issue on a bmw and it was a no start at all. Egr was stuck open. Another thing Matt each make of car is different. The mazda mx5 for example wont start at all with a faulty maf. Thanks

      Understanding theory is useful but doesn't always fix the car, I learn a lot from hands on case studies too. Every day is a school day. Cheers Matt
