this model appears to be getting a lot of attention of late - looks like people are starting to wake up on this piece - wouldn't surprise me if this piece starts to increase in value quickly over the coming months - and it's quite rare. Absolutely stunning is the 116600
I mean it's a No-Cyclops Sea Dweller cased in a traditional 40mm size, great proportions with all the improvements of a modern Rolex diver like the Ceramic bezel, maxi dial with blue chromalight lume, solid bracelet with glidelock clasp, produced for only 3 years maximum, and the model that replaces it (126600) at 43mm doesn't look or wear remotely close to the 116600. The 116600 has all the hallmarks of a future classic.
It is everything I wanted: 40mm or under No cyclops Date Ceramic bezel Short fat profile/lugs Glide lock Blue lume (friggin’ cool) And… it’s Rolex. It’s pretty much the only thing they did right in the past decade.
Best Rolex in my opinion. I wish it wasn’t discontinued because I stopped wearing mine when it was. I know I know but I want to save it as a collectible for my daughter now. Maybe she will get rich off of it. 😂
One of my top 5s for sure! Interesting to hear how the discontinuation affected your use case of the watch haha! Hopefully it still sees some wrist time at home or on special occasions!
Unfortunately (or fortunately for me), the Sea Dweller remains an underappreciated watch. As such it's not a collector's item, nor a great investment. What it is, is the ultimate dive watch for those who know. It's an overbuilt Submariner Date without the cyclops. The ceramic bezel is more durable than the aluminum bezel of the 16600, and the bezel is fully graduated. The 116600 is my ultimate grail watch. It's the right size (40mm), it's a tank, and it looks just like a Submariner. The reason it was only produced for 2.5 years, is that Rolex wanted to make significant changes for its 50th anniversary. Had the 50th anniversary been another 5 years away, it would have been produced for 7.5 years (though with an upgraded movement at some point, and maybe moving to 41mm like the Submariner).
Nice. I really would like a 126600. Gorgeous piece. The older SD @ 40mm is just too small for my wrists. I’m used to wearing a 44.25mm Omega chronograph on a daily basis, so 43mm no sweat.
I envy big people with big wrists because I want to wear big watches without looking ridiculous while still be able to wear classic/small size watches.
SD 43 is not wearable for everyone and that is a problem. Hopefully we will see 41 mm version at some point. This version is best from both worlds , Submariner + Sea Dweller.
This is my daily watch. Thing is beat up BEYOND belief. I never plan on selling. It’s the PERFECT watch in every single way. Tough as nails, but gorgeous at the same time. It’s my grail watch for a reason! Hope it doesn’t explode in value in 30 years because mine will probably look scrap metal by then 😂
Nobody even needs anywhere near the capabilities/tolerances of a Submariner let alone a SeaDweller! 😂 that means that it comes down to Aesthetics and comfort. For me the Submariner is better in both fronts.
For those of you that have an open mind about watches, San Martin released a beautiful homage/copy whatever you want to call it of this watch last year in grade 5 Titanium. The model number is SN0111T. My dream watch has always been a Rolex Submariner in Titanium so when I saw this watch I bought it immediately. It only cost around $400 USD and is a very well made watch. You might want to check it out.
Sd 4 k is too top heavy, misaligned endlinks and date window too far in. Killed the symmetry. Shame ., it could have been a true classic.prices . Short production run for a reason, but these days accounts for nothing😂
Hmm. I didn’t feel it to be top heavy. I’d consider the 44mm Deepsea the one to fit those characteristics. I actually quite like the minimalistic date window. But I also don’t yearn for dial symmetry so there’s that.
It’s not too top heavy at all. I wore it daily until it was d/c’d then I stuck it in the safe. I have a feeling it’s going to be highly sought after down the road.
SD4000 has one of the shortest production runs for a modern rolex. The size is great, and I love the look of the raised sapphire Crystal.
Only produced for 3 years - from 2014 until 2017 … it has a unique case, unique lugs, dial … it’s perfect

Wear it. That’s what it is there for.

Rolex created the perfect watch with the SD4K.
Absolutely
Nah, too big, too thick
Too big, too thick for small guys 😂
@craigmcbride526 I'm 6ft 225lbs with a 7.75 inch wrist 😆 I just have taste and don't wear oversized watches to compensate for something...
You’re over using that wrist 😂 So tell me what do fat guys wear? 😂😂
The extra thickness just makes it look tougher than a sub 💪
True!
Also less confortable, but I love mine
Subscribed! Great videos! Keep it up. Lots of potential.
Thanks mate!

That would be really cool! I really like the red text on the 43 though. Maybe some other form of flair on a new SD4k?
@@StandardTime Also, there is missing link between 40 mm and 43 mm, 44 mm Deepsea is too close to SD 43
Deepsea so much more comfy than the43. Sd43 the in betweener lost middle child😊
I own the SD43 and love it. I have owned 4 subs but this watch is my favorite

Same here.. it’s the last true Se Dweller and the best diver watch ever made by Rolex … SD4K 116600 is perfection
Let me know if you sell it interested
How do you think this would feel/wear on a 6.75 wrist?
Pretty great actually. It’s almost the same submariner size
I got yesterday a 116600 unworn 😊
At what price point?
@@IamnotJokic 14k
@@MichaelApke wow, unworn after all these years is hard to find!

What’s your wrist size?
7.3''' / 18.5 cm
SD 43 trumps this !

But … it’s not a Rolex
@impexRQ HaHa! No, it's not! Does Rolex make a Titanium Submariner? No, I didn't think so. Until then, this is a great alternative.
Pls start wearing your watches properly and on your wrist..

@@OShackHennessy plenty out there. If you bought it in 2016-17 your sitting on a winner
it's plenty if you're willing to buy online and potentially import the watch but it's not that easy to find locally@@Leftystrat
Rolex is overrated.
I think it’s rated too often, not sure if it’s overrated :)
