Btw, the side profile of the Sea Dweller with its raised glass and thicker case added to the case back make for a very classy profile. You don’t get that with the sub.
That date window such design flaw on the 116600. Prices are rising sure . Only has value if you bought in 2017. The sd 43 cleans up the errors on this one. The sub is just a Toyota !
@@Leftystrat the SD43mm was a mistake … that’s the reason why it doesn’t sell … the SD4K was discontinued because Rolex already had planed to increase the size of the submariner and correct the square case … more in direction of the SD4K… the last true Sea Dweller
Great review. Seadweller 4000 with short production run has started to go up in price. I've put money and purchased think it will see growth rate like the Double Red Seadweller.
The submariner is the watch with the best value for money in the world, since 1953. It's also the most popular! The Sea Dweller is as its name implies, a watch for the depths, where light exists only through the SuperLuminova...
Nice review, personally I prefer the 114060 Sub, as it has cleaner lines to the 116600 without the cyclops, but the Sea Dweller 4000 is definitely a future classic, atb Sev
Both are great watches. SDc more of a connoisseur piece. Def more technical. I like the homage of the SDc back to the sea dwellers of yesteryear particularly due to its dimensions. If you think about it, it’s perfect in every detail. Possibly “too perfect”. For any serious collection, def consider both as complementary rather than either or.... but if given the choice, I’d go with the SD 4K.
the price was 10400$. I'm so happy I got one in july of 2014. It would be nice if one day this watch will be sought after. Mine doesn't leave my wrist since I bought it.
3 years ago and the comparison/analysis was spot on. The short lived SD 40mm Ceramic is destined to be a classic and sought after Rolex, as future collectors figure out just how special and rare this watch really is. Rolex is finally going back to the tapered case on the new 41mm Subs. Great comparison video that aged well.
Not that it matters, unless I win the lottery, but to me the SD4000 is the perfect Rolex. I never thought I would be able to go as small as 40mm but that watch has a lot of presence. I hate the cyclops and I prefer 60 minutes of indexing. My Orient Ray II looks small on my 8.25 inch wrist.
Personally I don’t like the raised height off the wrist due to the more rounded caseback but its certainly a characterful conversation piece. I’ve looked into the SD43 and that’s just way too head heavy for me, this 40mm case size is much more like it. No doubt prices will continue to creep up but I feel this one is for the hard core collectors and connoisseurs only. Loving that fat crystal. Certainly the one to get if you want to stand out from the crowd.
The height difference never bothered me all that much. It sill fits under a shirt cuff with relative ease. I think the conversation between SD43 and 40 comes down to wrist size. I don't have a big enough wrist to rock the SD43.
Which one looks bigger on the wrist? I have a 7.6" wrist and a SubC 114060 wears like a 42mm, so I wondering how big the SD4K wears on the wrist . Thanks
Have them all n m ate , I’m same size as you and found the deepsea 126660 in black the most comfy on surprisingly . The sd43? The in betweener. 16600 the daily. The 116600 and sd 43 domed caseback killed it for me for comfort. Deep and 16600 till I turn to dust😊
I just purchased my very 1st Rolex Deep Sea-Sea Dweller & I love it. At 44mm it looks great on my wrist. I tend to like bigger timepieces & that's why I love dive watches. The Rolex brand is kinda small for me, but I can rock my 44mm Deep Sea-Sea Dweller any day. Thanks for your video.
Could watch reviewers start including the standard weight with all links added on as it is a major driver for watch buyers to flip / sell off to another model (ie Ceramic Seadweller 4k 116600 is 173grams which is uncomfortable / top heavy and main reason why no date sub is more day to day wearable (134 grams).
Les index chromes sur la Sea dweller sont mieux fini , la lunette en céramique graduée est juste parfaite , le Match pour la sub et son cyclope pour mal voyant est perdu d’office....
My omega planet ocean 42 mm 2500D movement with updated micro clasp with AR coating won’t be getting sold be buy either of these for the he reasons obvious😊
You need to note that the hands on the Sea-Dweller are too thin. Also, the Cyclops on the SD43 is molded into the crystal, hence it will withstand the pressure. Rolex would have installed the Cyclops from inception if the technology had existed.
Michael Turner you talk shit. The hands are identical. And the cyclops is not Moulded into the crystal. It’s glued. A cyclops was never fitted traditionally due to the plexi glass not being able to withstand the uneven pressure at depth. Rolex decided to continue with that tradition once Sapphire was used.
@@sickleharvestsleeks peiple moved from glasses to contacts and then laser eye surgery. Rolex is still wearing Mr Magoo glasses. They are too scared that it won't be recognised as a rolex. Plus they are so lazy as to not apply AR coating.

The SD4000 is PERFECT! Prices are rising on them quickly. A Rolex classic
i realize it's kind of off topic but does anybody know of a good website to stream new tv shows online ?
@Graham Bodie try flixzone. You can find it by googling :)

I got my sd4k in 2015. I really enjoy it. Used prices are now more than the msrp price I paid.
SD4k is now deemed a rare watch within the U.K. Becoming impossible almost to obtain.
I'm thinking of dumbing my (way too long) list of grails down to the SD4k and a platinum Datograph. Set for life.
Thanks for this.

Excellent review now definitely leaning on the sea dweller currently on the waitlist for the submariner
I also removed the dive extension from my SD. Just not needed and kind of a PITA.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
116600 is on my watch list for sure.
SD any day of the month...
Great review. Wish there were more video 👌🏽👌🏽
Good review, informative , just wish the lighting on the watch could have been better
What do you mean? Are you saying you can't set of the mines with the helium escape valve?

They made over 15,000 of them. I don't know if that's really rare.
the steel on the SD43 seems to have a different overall finish from lugs to surface of the band. Am I imagining this?
Great comparison and video

JungleEddie same here. It ended up looking and feeling nicely right?
"As SMALL as 40mm" lmao. Ok dude, to each his own I guess!
@@MattH-wg7ou I'm a bit of a mountain: 6'4" and 320 lbs.

SD 4000 the best a keeper , now price very high :( almost same as SD43
The SD4k is soooo perfect 😍
This is like two greased up musclebound hunks going at it!
Was asking myself questions, which your video answered. Thanks.
idk why but the submariner sell it with the micro-adjustable clasp buckle part. but the S-D looks a little nicer and thicker.
Actually it could be say that the SD4K was limited edition to 2 years only 😊
The 116600 all the way, but I would be super grateful to own either!
interested in your thoughts on the SD43
Damn I was super curious about the differences, and how they will measure up thank you for this one
Glad to help!

Thanks for the video mate. Looking to add the 116600 to my 16600 and 126600. Bit of an SD junkie one might say.

Buy a black sub. You can't go wrong
Love the SD4K ❤
I bought my sea dweller 4000 back in 1989
No cyclops greater WR please
The SD4K is the perfect Rolex sport model … the last true sea dweller
116600 will easily hit 15k+ GBP by end of 2021...everything about it stacks up..
You were not far off with your prediction! Surely will continue to rise in value and desirability into the future .

An 114060 ceramic no date Sub is not 134gram. Closer to 155 grams …
SD4000
Hi, has the submariner in this video ever been polished?
No, I bought that submariner new from an authorized dealer and it has not been polished
Well done.

I hope the new submariner will get this smaller case of the sea Dweller

Mi pice questo video e l orologio.
everyone prefers the more expensive watch; big shock
Old sub > SD40 > New sub > 50th ann SD
It is like comparing a Fiero and a Testarossa!
submariner is the watch of the watches, best proportions. More big doesn´t mean better.

I have the 116600. Absolutely love it. The tapered lugs and crown guards are perfect.
The hands on the Sea=Dweller 400 are thinner, this is obvious.. Rolex in London told me the Cyclops on Sea-Dweller 43 is now molded into the crystal.
Sea dweller rules! The Submariner looks cheap and boring!
I'm confused. They are both 40mm but the sea dweller 116600 seems to be bigger/larger
but why are they so expensive??
Helldorado quality costs
There is no helium in the water man rofl!
Simeon Aleksiev they mix helium with the oxygen when saturation diving.
King Tutt I know but check what he says in the video
Both are completely surpassed by the new Sea-Dweller 43mm 126600.
Not a chance m8,, not a chance
A Rolex without Cyclops is not a Rolex....
You do realize the original Submariner didn't have a date or cyclops, right?

I prefer the older Sea Dweller, the original Sub killer…….the bezel is way too cluttered on this SD4000…..
