I have seen this video a lot of times, but today I decided to comment. First of all, congrats for the high quality of your videos! You're great!
Back in 2018 when you uploaded this video, I was trying hard to find this watch. I had since 2003 an Explorer II but when I saw the SD43 I fall in love and I decided to sell the Explorer and buy the SD. From all the ADs in Greece (I'm living in Athens) I was receiving the same reply: "we are not in a position to tell you, when you will have the watch, because we are receiving only a 1-2 pieces every few months and there is a huge waiting list...". I was completely dissapointed! I contacted even in Zurich the famous AD Bucherer (the Dealer that I had bought the Explorer II in 2003) and he informed me, that I had to wait minimum 2 years!
When I listened you in your video saying; "I will not remove the stickers because I'm not intenting to keep the watch" I said: "what he is doing! give it to me man!" 😂 What is the funny thing? Your video brought me luck! Two days after I saw your video, I got a call from one of the 6(!) ADs that I had visited and he told me the following: "Today I received 1 SD43. You are not the next on the list and you are not the customer that I had to call... BUT you was the most polite candidate buyer of all and the only one that proposed to pay the watch in advance. This showed how determined you was and how much you want this watch Sir. So...shall I keep this watch for you, for 24 hours? After that I have to call someone else". I replied instantly: "...keep the watch for only 2 hours. I'm in the office and I'm coming to your store right away!". 😊 I got the SD43, I sold the Explorer II after 2 days, and I'm saying the following: I'm in love with this watch! Despite that is big, at the same time is so balanced! I will never sell it and someday I will service/polish it and give it to my grandson! (I'm 53 so I will wear it for at least 30 years onwards 😊).
Keep uploading great videos! Regards! George from Greece.

I was lucky to find (and buy) ref. 126660 Deepsea D-blue “James Cameron” yesterday.. It is an engineering marvel .. titanium case back, fantastic clasp system, 5.5 mm sapphire crystal, wider bracelet, 3900m water resistance, new Calibre 3235 movement with 70 hour power reserve, and a smooth as glass 904L stainless steel. I will NEVER get rid of this watch. To me, the over engineering and excess equals luxury. This watch is superior in every way to its predecessors.

I have 2 of these. 1 in the safe and 1 on my wrist. I think it's the best Rolex ever made and the market will eventually prove it. I find it fascinating when so many complain about the cyclops whilst the Subby date is the biggest selling piece on earth. The 43mm compliments the watch and it's style. It's a winner in every way. Someone will be glad they bought it from you. The red line is special too. Watch this space

SD43 is the perfect Sub! I have small wrist but the sub never felt big enough on my wrist, the SD James Cameron is oversized and to bulky for just about every normal person's wrist and Rolex has just made a correction on the wigth of the bracelet. The SD43 addresses all the wrongs of the sub and the deep sea and moves in a whole new direction with the new movement and the cyclops which for once can actually allow you to read the small date print. SD43 is the beginning of something special for the Rolex Sea Dweller line..

your crazy to get rid of this watch. it is the first Rolex dive watch to use the new generation of movement the 3235. it is what the submariner should have become and probably will become over the next few years. KEEP IT.... it is a future classic and the value is only going one way... up

I really enjoy being in meetings and all the guys with regular subs see this watch and KNOW this one is not like theirs. I guess my wrist also makes it easier to wear (7.75 inches)

I have an 18cm wrist and I am getting ready to purchase my first Rolex. I went today thinking I was going to buy a Daytona but honestly.... I thought the watch was too small. They did not have a Sea-Dweller in the store but I believe that is the perfect size for me! I would love the stainless or the 2-tone!

  • @rvt911
    @rvt911 6 лет назад +15

Bad decision IMO ; keep it. I picked up mine last week after an 8 month wait. I have the Batman and the Hulk and this to me is the perfect size. The movement has been updated and a 70 hour power reserve. Since I have been wearing it , it has had less than a second a day differential with the atomic clock. The bracelet is beautifully tapered and my old eyes love the cyclops. I don’t have big wrists but I find it comfortable and love it’s presence.

Reason that the 116600 was canned was because the lugs were misaligned, too top heavy and date window placed way too far in on the dial. It was like they rushed it. This piece addresses those faults and I think they nailed it imho

I have a few similar watches to you. I admire the D Blue as an engineer but the 43mm for me is perfect, I have bigger wrists. Regarding the cyclops, the first sea Dweller really was the Submariner 2000 single red before they renamed it and that had a cyclops, the the double red was sea Dweller Submariner and that also had a cyclops ...

I love the watch and for me it would be something I’d want to keep forever and wear every day but like all Rolex sports watches it’s so difficult to get one. For me a watch of this price is a major expense and stainless steel is about all I could afford but also from what I understand the hardest to find. I heard that waiting lists are up to 3 years. I realise it’s extremely popular but how many other products take that long? Someone suggested to me recently that this is manufactured scarcity by Rolex. I’m starting to think this is true. Great video thanks for sharing your collection and thoughts

I have this watch as well, and absolutely love it. I see you also have on of the first models. The ones produced in 2018 have the Rolex crown on the dial now between the "Swiss Made", so if anything ours are more collectible as they were on such a short production run.

Rolex is so expensive you can probably sell that green outer bag for a grand...:) . hehe.....great passion and splendid video. I love the red subs and sea dwellers vintage style.....I find the newer ones just too brawny and muscular....I love all the subs and dwellers from the 60's and 70's....Im a big vintage guy. Still, this one is breaking new ground with the cyclops for a dweller. Im not sure how these newer generations are going to age.....if they look "pristine" new in 20 years without any patina or fading ...it kinda takes away from story telling of the watch....kinda disenchanting honestly. I also find the new ones to be so syrupy and glowing in appearance that they are difficult to dress down.....almost too showy.....even a basic submariner stands out like a red bulb on an all white Christmas tree. I like the smaller, more humble looking vintage bodies ...just my opinion.....Best ~ DL

The 43mm is big indeed. 40mm is more elegant. I would hold on to the D-blue a little longer. They might be discontinued with the next basel, so the premium should be higher (or won't go down). With the 43mm SD, the premium will probably go down as more are being made. So selling it asap is the way to go I guess.
The comparison between the Submariner and the SD-4000 can be interesting for a video (just like you did before, with measuring the dimensions, weight, showing the different features, ...).
Thanks for the video, it was interesting to hear your thoughts about this watch.

This is amazing watch. This is how the dive watch should look like. Bigger, heavier, helium valve and the most important thing is the fully graduated bezel. I would pick this over the Sub all the time. I think Rolex should keep only one diver watch and this is the SD43.

Hi and thanks for starting your vlog channel again. I always enjoyed your videos watches and travel.
Onto the SD43 I think you should re-consider selling. Rolex decided to stop production of the 4000 because it was too similar to the ceramic sub and did not sell well. Yes now its discontinued its a collectors piece, but this 50th anniversary piece may also be short lived, with the red text turning white.
I'm lucky enough to have a SD43 and can tell you that the new movement is just amazing. 1 sec per day accuracy, 70 hour power reserve and the lume lasts well into the night.

Hi Neil. Thanks for your comment 👍🏼 yeah the 3235 is definitely impressive I hope we start seeing it on the subs / YM in this years basel. I agree with the SD43 but I doubt the red txt will change to white. Guess I’ll hold on selling until Basel so won’t have any regrets just in case. The thing is it doesn’t make sense to keep both the SD4K & SD43 but time will tell👍🏼

Indeed, I think Rolex changed their design for a reason. The original SD is a classic, however, the sea dweller is always stuck in the middle of DEEPSEA and the SUBMARINER. So for a Sea Dweller to have some significance, it has to change. And the 126600 changed in a way that really suits the modern needs. The trend in the current watch market is, people are tending to wear bigger watches, whether they can look good in them or not. And for the cyclops, it’s a ROLEX classic thing that you can find on a ROLEX. Thirdly, the movement, as you can see from Baselworld 2018, the new Deepseas, bracelets are wider, movement changed. These all reflect Rolex’s Intention in their next generation watches. It’s not the original SD wasn’t a fine watch, it’s just the original SD, will remain as a watch that’s in the past. And stays that way. Just like there are vintage Rolex watches, people liked them when they get them in the 1950s, but people in 2020 May not wear them on a daily basis.

hi there, it's been a while since your last vedio, I hope you are doing fine. I have recently got the message from my AD that they can offer me one of the following sport modells: 126600, 126660 blue, 126660 black, 126613LB and 126613LN. actually i have already had the 126613LB and I loved it. i have a 17cm wrist and I felt the sub fits me perfectly. deep sea is way too big and the sea dweller is just on the limit. I serached the vedios on youtube about the comparission of sub and Sea Dweller, and i would like to hear your advice, which one shall i pick. as a matter of fact, i don't mind to have another sub two tones since the size is perfect and i found myself more and more in love with the two tones rolexs, but the SD43 in steel is perhaps harder to find by retail, considering the hipe is getting down during the last months. what do you say? nevertheless wish you all the best and hope to see your next film soon after.
    BR, thomas

Could watch reviewers start including the standard weight with all links added on as it is a major driver for watch buyers to flip / sell off to another model (ie Ceramic Seadweller 4k 116600 is 173grams which is uncomfortable / top heavy and main reason why no date sub is more day to day wearable (134 grams).

I let mine go as well - it’s juts too big (if I wanted something big, I will go better with the Deepsea Blue)

Rodrigo Quintero Bejarano nobody would ever pic the Deepsea over the SD43 😂😂

Yanik Coen well, I did (I’m sure I’m not the only one) anyway - let my Deepsea go as well (too much Rolex hype) and went with a nice Glashütte SeaQ Panorama Datum 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

Can’t go wrong with a BLNR 👌🏼👌🏼 especially if the rumours are true of it getting discontinued in Basel 2018 good luck👍🏼

I picked it up in May and now in October I still keep glaring at it. Haven’t lost or gained a second either, I wear it everyday. Very impressed with rolex. Thinking of the SD43 next.

How thick is the watch? I know the deepsea is 17.7 and the 4000 is 15. Is this in the middle of the two or the same as the 4000?
