You don't rush, you explain everything so well and your ideas are brilliant! One more thing, THANK YOU for taking the time to list all of your supplies you used, for each project. Wow! So nicely done and explained. Just this week, I came across these special foils at Hobby Lobby in the clearance section and at a great price! Sadly, the instructions were so confusing that I left the product. Now, after watching your tutorial, I'll be heading back and grabbing those foils!

    Perfect timing for me to find this Jennifer. I just picked up two tubes of Deco Foil on clearance at Michaels today so it was great to find your video to give me great ideas on how to use it. I only figured I would use it with double sided adhesive sheets I have, would run that through on die cuts, etc., but to see about the laser printer technique is awesome as well. I don't have the laminator but I will give it a try with a hot iron. I LOVE your videos, I spend hours watching all of your great videos. Thanks so much for making everything seem so incredibly easy. Your awesome!!

      Hello, my name is Steven, I have a very large quantity of gold, silver, holographic, amd holographic foil with holographic hearts and designs, i?literally have tens of thousands of feet with roll widths of 14 and 15 inches wide, I had really cool results using a hot glue gun for raised holographic lettering, and I am by mo means a hobby type of guy! I also have a wide range of bright white card stock in and size you need it cut to, and will beat any competitors pricing, ive been working in printedia for 24 years amd the ink jet labels you buy at staples actually cost just a few cents to?manufacture and the charge ypu 25 bucks for a few hundred label's. My foil material also works wonderfully using the UV curing technique same as how nail salons are adding gold leaf to finger nails with a UV curing lamp. You can message me if interested i'll semd you A FREE SAMPLE OF EACH COLOR.. You cant shoot me a text at 631-294-2043 and at the top just write FOIL INQUIRY SO I KNOW ITS NOT SPAM..

    Love the Laminator - I'm making my own First Day Covers, and wanted something extra special to make them really shine.. I had no idea I could do my own foil adds until a few days ago. Struggling to find the Reactive foils, I finally got a hold of the Heidi swap Minc rolls here in Spotlight (lovely colours, though would love a bigger selection)
    I already have the laser printer, and was looking for a cheaper method than the Minc Machine. ($199 here in Australia) - Your laminator idea is perfect, so I'll be giving that a try. Thanks for sharing!

    I was playing with some of the foil today, using a variety of methods, with very little success, and this evening, I recalled watching this video. Doh! So tomorrow, I will be using some of your ideas. Especially using the flitter glue. Great tips. Thanks.
    You have a great voice for tutorials. Very clear and not nasally and whiny, like a lot of voices I've heard in videos. I couldn't do spoken ones, as my voice is nasally too. The Nottingham GB, accent is like that. I don't know what part of the USA, people have the nasally accent.

    I searched and searched for foiling videos when I was planning my 2014 Christmas photo cards and did find the laminator method but I don't have a laser printer. I only wanted to add foil snowflakes to my card. The Deco Foil was not readily available anywhere even from ThermoWeb's website. My Michael's store directed me to Martha Stewart foil and I tried the sticky emboss powder with it and the foil did not stick well at all and the parts that did would rub off. I just gave up and now your video has come along and I am sooooo happy to see the different techniques. ThermoWeb also has a sticky glue to go with their foil. I'll have to try the first technique with the blending pad. Thanks soooo much for this video!!!! I look forward to the different design ideas you have going forward. BTW, love the damask stencil idea. That would look cool on the backside of a flat photocard for Christmas ;)

    Can't afford the fancy new style hot foil machines... but I have a laser printer and a laminator... and now I know how to use them... to create wonderful, shiny things for my cards. Thank you so much for doing this incredible video! Even if it is a few years old, it is still great information for the many of us who live on very limited budgets but still want to create beautiful things. I am planning to make my own shiny sentiments... on black card, which should foil onto the black words without foiling the black card.

    • @mccosha
      @mccosha 9 лет назад +5

      Jennifer McGuire Ink the Minc is simply a glorified laminator. Even during the demo, I asked the difference between a laminator and the Minc and was told "the heat spreads more evenly than your normal laminator".
      With the machine there are packets of "full laminating sheets" for sale as well - which are just a sheet of paper covered with a black rectangle printed from a laser printer (aka, toner powder).
      I am all for crafting tools and paying for people's talent and ingenuity but there is nothing here that justifies pricing a machine 5 times the price of a good old laminator.
      The carrier sheets are a good thing to use and they are sold around the web for 1 dollar - or you can use deli paper, which is what I have been doing for years.
      A tip - after applying the foil via heat and stick, glue or sook tape, you can put the piece between a folded printing sheet of paper and sent it through the laminator as well before peeling it off - the finish is much smoother.
      Also, you can use deli paper as masks and use various colors of foil in one image.
      Nice video :) Foil is fun!

Wonder why its not working... :( Also, can you use the "stick-it" adhesive tape with Silhouette machines?

Do you have any knowledge on feeding a coaster through the laminator? If so, I would buy one immediately...or do you think the glue process would work best? My artwork is pretty intricate.

    Hi Jennifer, I love this video. So many great ideas! I bought the Stick It because I saw that it works in electronic cutters. Have you ever used it in a Cricut machine before? I tried yesterday and it's not cutting out that great. I'm trying to help a friend fix her wedding invitations. She should she had checked the box when ordering them to add gold foil, but when they arrived they didn't have it. This is great! Thank you! I especially wanted to try the last method, so I used a laser printer and a laminator. The image turned out beautifully, but there was also foil that stuck to places where there was no printing - so there ended up being like a "foil shading" in the background. Would this be the quality of the foil or the laser printer do you think? (Or the laminator - it's heat setting isn't adjustable.)

    • @jennifermcguireink
      @jennifermcguireink  2 года назад +1

      Maybe both. The heat from the laser printer and laminator probably transfers a little to other areas. But that's just a guess.

      I think you can use a iron with the foils, as she has other videos that show it and so does the Frugal Crafter..The laminator is very inexpensive but the laser printer, I wouldn't even bother with..I am disabled and on a very very strict budget but there is always a way around some things if you let your imagination go! Good Luck.

      I have those stuff already. 😅 But no gold foil. 😂

    • @Nandanyx
      @Nandanyx 6 лет назад +5

      When I foil I just print in my inkjet printer whatever I want to do, then go to office Depot (or a papelería, which are like small office supply stores in Latin America) and then go home and foil it with my hair straightener. It does the job perfectly without having to spend that much on it

    The be creative tape is exactly what the score tape is and even says sookwang just like score-tape and now I'm confused what the difference is?

      I think it's the same thing, the full title is Be Creative Sookwang Scor tape.

    You just saved me a ton of money (50 to be exact lol) as I was looking at these on Amazon and wanted one of these in size A3 (11x17). Now I'm all down for DIY but I doubt I'd want more than one or two of these for my bedroom and coffee table so I'm going to purchase small quantity of the foil paper. The best part is a) I can choose/customize my art, b) I have a laminator and laser printer at work, c) I believe I have the A3 paper too so hooray for my having the idea of checking RUclips DIYs prior to ordering on Amazon!!!
    And of course, thank you much for the video! I subscribed, of course. Thanks again!

    What a well done video! I am simply amazed at how "watchable" (or not) videos are depending on someone's voice. (People can have all the info you could ever want but simply CANT get through their clips.) You have a lovely tone and calming way about you. VERY informative, relaxing and most of all, inspiring. I will be subscribing and looking over your other videos! Im a new explore air2 owner and crafter in general so your info will be invaluable. Blessings to you from the Great Pacific Northwest, Lakewood Washington!

    I’m so glad I found this tutorial! I know this is an old video, but you just saved me from wasting $100 on a minc foiling machine. It seems it’s just a glorified laminator! I already own a laminator, so I decided to invest in a monochrome laser printer instead.
    I found a brother laser printer for 50% off this year on Black Friday, so I really came out on top. You’re a lifesaver. Thanks for the inspiration!
