I love this lady! She's so happy and bright, how refreshing! All of her recipes are great and I think she does a wonderful job in her videos explaining the details. God bless this woman.
I made it today with grilled chicken tenders and a side of hummus, dukkah, and grill-toasted flatbread. It was absolutely delish! Wife and kids literally vacuumed the plates. Thanks for the inspiration!
"We have chickpeas which are full of lots of good stuff lke fiber and stuff ", I'm in.
My doctor had me to switch to the Mediterranean diet because of an autoimmune condition called Sjorgen syndrome. It said it will help to reduce inflammation. So in my research I can across your channel. I will add this to my menu. It looks delicious. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe.
I am thankful for you and the recipes. I want to change to a mediterranean diet and this will be helpful.

That looks amazing!!!! I want to make that!!
Susie, a great set of knives is a must for someone who enjoys cooking like you do. I have a set from the company Cutco. They are very expensive, but so very good. It makes food prep a piece of cake. I no longer buy precut vegetables since I bought these knives.
Suzy this looks yum!!I love this salad Bella!!👍🤩
I really like Kuma knives! I used their chef knife for a year and it remained sharp! Thanks for the recipe
Your salad is beautiful..makes me so hungry.

From Singapore 🇸🇬
Lovely recipe and presentation 👌
I second the Wusthof knives - I received the Classic Chef knife and paring knife as a recent gift - love the weighted feel. Glad I found your website as I am moving our household to more Mediterranean style foods.
That's great, Sheila! I hope your family discovers some new favorites here!
It is a colorful and very delicious meal! Appetite comes out! I want to eat it!
Enjoy!
Happy to find this channel
I’ve been making this on my new eating plan. I add quinoa or seven grains or lentils or barley. I change it up because I’m making it every week.

Thank you!
Just discovered your channel. I have to go on a plant based diet, Drs orders. I made your recipe and it was fantastic. Thank you.
If you need to sharp your knife use the bottom or a plate or mug and use the edge. That way I sharp my knives. They are from ikea but they really work
About your knife…. I sharpen my inexpensive knives each time I use them , before and after using them, so they stay sharp. One thing that dulls a knife is using it to scoop up the chopped bits by dragging the sharpened edge across the cutting board. If you want to use it to scoop the bits, turn the knife over so the unsharpened edge scrapes on the board. Give it a try😉
Global Knives.... I’ve had mine for years and Williams Sonoma will sharpen them for free.
I use GLOBAL knives..love them ...made from one piece of carbon steel. Sharp..comfortable..easy to use and well balanced
Great video you're doing on the Mediterranean chickpea salad since I have cans of chickpeas laying in my home. I would add feta since I'm Greek Goes great with this salad. TY for all you do! I recommend Wüsthof knives because I have them & they're German steel made in Germany. I bought my Wüsthof that came iwth the chef knife & paring knife from a store in NYC that left a few years ago for a great price
Tanya Vav wonderful! Feta would be great! And thanks for the knife recommendation
Calphalon knife sets with sharpening blocks are great.
That looks so delicious I’m going to try to make this thank you for sharing beautiful lady
Enjoy!
A perfect work lunch idea
For sure! Enjoy!
Doctor told me to go on a mediterranean diet so I guess this is a good start
I highly recommend Zwilling 7” Rocking Santoku knife.. great quality and very very sharp!
Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. This loaded salad is my new favorite side dish for any type of grilled meat. I subscribed to this channel before the recipe was finished.

RE: Knives
Regardless of the brand, if used regularly, all knives need to be sharpened about every six months. A new knife is also going to feel awkward in your hands. A few suggestions:
1) Get a 1,000/6,000 combined sharpening stone and watch RUclipss on how to sharpen knives from Burrfection. You CAN bring that old, cheap knife back to life and you won’t be intimidated by having to learn how to sharpen a new, more expensive set. Spend time on the 6,000 grit side of the stone to get it razor sharp! Stropping helps too, but isn’t necessary.
2) Regardless how slight, using a knife blade as a scraper ( 2:38 ) will dull the knife. Admittedly, I’m sometimes guilty of this, but I try to flip the knife over and use the spine to scrape food into a bowl whenever I can.
3) Honing the knife with a steel before every use will help MAINTAIN THE EDGE. Using a steel WILL NOT keep a knife sharp.
4) Keep knives sheathed or in a block to keep the edge from getting dinged. Many just let their knives float in a drawer without protection 😖.
“May the odds be ever in your favor”
Love all your recipes. Sometimes I grate my garlic when I’m too lazy to chop.
I use jarred🤭. Sorry, been a homemaker for 40 years, and it doesn’t make any difference that I can see.
This looks so yummy! How long would this stay good in the fridge for?
Trying this one out today! Made your money bean salad recipe to go with dinner last night and WOW it was sooooooooo delicious!!!!!
I am wondering if I can use rosemary in a fresh salad or if that’d be too overwhelming. I do love using it for baked meats but wasn’t sure about fresh salads. What do you think?
Henckels knives. They are awesome. Stay sharp for a long time and re-sharpen nicely.
They are the best! We love them too.
Shun knives. Standard chef and pairing knife is all you need and not too expensive. Thanks for the recipes!
Just a note about the olive oil: try Spanish Extra Virgin Olive Oil. I find it cheaper and as good if not better than greek. Said this I just suscribed to your channel. Fantastic recipes!! Thanks so much.
Great idea for a t shirt. “Be one with the garlic”. Love it
Made this today 5/20/21......it is AMAZING😋 thank you💞
Rada is a good brand. They also sell a sharpener
Zwilling Henckels Proffessional knife, expensive but great quality.
wusthof or global. nice and sharp
Her sense of humor is so bad, it’s good 😂
I agree
Love it:)
You asked for knife recommendations. I have three. You must try a knife yourself, its a very personal choice. Kitchen Aid has a very good line, holds an edge well. Wolfgang Puck has excellent knives. Elegant steak knives. Weighty, good feel. My all time favorite though is from a company called Chicago Cutlery. Sharp sharp sharp. All worth a try.
Thanks for those great recommendations!
Kitchen Aid for me as well
❤❤❤
For medical suggestion I need to be on the Mediterranean diet. Thank you…new subscriber here!👏🏻👏🏻❤️❤️😭😭😘
Welcome!
Where shoud I look for eggplant recipe.Like to see how you fry it.
I ❤️ Suzy and the Mediterranean Dish one question: Za'tar ❤ ( which spice is called "top of the house" ( in Arabic - I am thinking Moroccan origins).
Tried this salad but eliminated garlic because it is revolting and disgusting. The results were delicious!! Thanks for a great recipe!
Wusthof is a Chef quality knife, they're awesome. I'm at one with garlic!!
Global Knives!!!! That knife so blunt sweetie, that’s dangerous!
Victorinox chef knife. Sharp, cheap, silicone handle, nice gripe easy to wash. Low maintenance. $40
Looks amazing, how long can you store the salad in the fridge for, in case of left overs ?
3 days!
Try the cooking guild for a new knife!
Do you use the stems of parsley all the way please let me know
You are what Hilaria Baldwin sees when she looks in the mirror. 😂
You are a sistah! A straight homegirl! I mean that in a good way. 👍🏾🖤🤎❤️
Thank you!! ❤️
On the printed recipe it says lime for the dressing, however the video says lemon. I made it with lime but in my head thought lemon would go better possibly??? Which was correct? Also love the website, so many great delicious recipes, thank you!!!
Thanks Eric!! You can certainly use lemon if you prefer
Really wonderful chef’s knives are made by Chicago Cutlery. All their knives are great. They are perfectly balanced, and very comfortable to the hand. It’s my absolute go to knife for everything. Mine is a six inch, wooden handle. (And I put it in the dishwasher😱). It’s thin enough for tomatoes, and will cut London broil into nice thin even slices too. They hold an edge for a looonnngggg time. They are also reasonably priced. I also highly recommend German made knives. Forget the Japanese knives hype, I’ve never seen one that can hold a candle to Chicago or Henkles. Thank you for yet another yummy recipe!
My pleasure! Thanks for the tip on the knives!
You’re welcome! I once made the mistake of buying my Armenian in laws a good set of knives, because the ones they had were so dull, and I guess it’s bad luck or something to buy someone knives. And I said well it’s probably worse luck to cut your finger off because you’re using a dull knife😂.🤷♀️. P.S. I’m 60, so I’ve seen a lot of knives.
@@mangot589 Old superstition/folk tale is to include a shiny penny with a gift of sharp things like knives or scissors. Takes care of any bad luck that might try to come with the gift. P.S. I'm 71 - lol
@@22cbreeze Lol. Fun to hear of superstitions from around. If I would have known that, I would have given them a shiny new penny with them😄! But I wouldn’t have included one for my sister in law😈.
Where can I find the recipe to make the gorgeous eggplant accompaniment?😁
You can find the recipe for a great roasted eggplant to go with this salad right here: www.themediterraneandish.com/roasted-eggplant-recipe/
Would love to know how you eat this with the pita and the eggplant. Just each thing individually? Or do you put them together?
I would eat them together
@@TheMediterraneanDish meaning to put the salad into the pita? Eggplant into the pita too?
Yes. You’ll want to make sure to grab pita pockets (not the flat kind) and warm them up slight so they open easily. Or you could simply eat them separately, up to you
Do you soak the chickpeas in water or just rinse?
You have to try a ceramic knife
Challutz = Shallots
Urbz = Herbs
Cutco brand knives
Do you have any advice to make chickpeas softer? I made a chickpea salad recently and couldn’t deal with the toughness and texture of the peas.
I often use canned chickpeas for salads and don't typically find them tough. Perhaps letting them marinade in the salad dressing for a bit?
I love all sorts of beans and cook them a lot. Not sure if you used salt to cook your chickpeas, but salt will toughen up the bean. It's best to use salt or anything that contains a salt for after they're cooked.
Are u using cooked canes chickpeas or cooking it urself?
Yes
Can you tell me where to get good quality pita bread? Hard to find locally for me
It really depends on each area. If you have a local Mediterranean or Middle Eastern market, that's a good option. Otherwise, we have a recipe for homemade pita bread: www.themediterraneandish.com/homemade-pita-bread-recipe/
Yasmin go to Indian stores or Pakistani if you have any where you live they always have pita not just the arab stores

How do i cook the garbanzo beans from scratch?
Can the salad be made ahead of time and flavors marry in the refrigerator?
Sure! The salad can be made ahead of time but just leave out the eggplant until you’re ready to serve
Adopt me 😫
Do they ship to canada
Hi here! Unfortunately we do not yet ship to Canada. Currently only within the US.
Okay thank you
The Mediterranean.com
You said lemon but it looks like lime to me.
Wow, this was SO good! I wasn't able to make it until now because my two local grocery stores, Stater Brothers and Vons don't carry Za'atar. I finally found it at Trader Joe's.
Another winner in the rotation!
Thank you, Suzy!
Kramer knives by Henckels - kramerknives.com/product-category/licensed-designs/meiji-collection/. Global/Shun, etc. are very good but not even close when compared to Kramer knives.
Thanks!
Japanese knives 🔪
Wusthof knives
Kramer knife
Why do you call it eggplant lasagna? It’s eggplant parmigiana.
Leave out the eggplant and it would be good
You can definitely do that!
I'm not sure anyone knows how to make anything without oil.
You have bad cucumbers turn yellow
With all that hair into the dish when cooking?
U talk a lot omg....just tell it straight thats it
@ Maritsa Torres yes you are right! I can’t stand it too. I love the recipe though.
Starts with same old cliche "What's up guys?" On you tube. time to leave.
