On the 5.7 and 6.1, they both call for 7 quarts. I and everyone else noticed that the dipstick shows way overfilled. 6.5 quarts makes dip stick read perfectly.
I was about to say. I only caught this when I accidentally put 8 quarts. Really looking at my stick and I was paranoid. Until I hit 6 1/2. It hit exactly on the second dot.
Great video. I’m about to change the oil in my wife’s R/T as well. I’m really glad to see you can do the job using a floor jack vs. ramps. My biggest concern is scraping the splitter.
glad you liked the video, yeah the chin spoiler is easy to scrape on anything steep, i would never suggest using ramps for any car work in my experience, they are unsafe. best of luck!
Great vid, thanks for sharing. That Pennzoil platinum is great oil, my 2015 challenger RT plus loves it!! I used Mobil One full synthetic one the first oil change and it used a quart between oil changes, which I had the dealer I bought the car from do, and then took it to the dodge dealer and told them it used a quart and they were like, you should try the pennzoil platinum and it never used a drop between oil changes. I bought the car used with about 47k on it and now I've put 11k on it and absolutely love this car!! Was thinking about doing my own oil change this next time which is what brings me to your vid!! Thanks again for sharing!!
I have had good luck with the oil, i've never needed to top it off. glad the video was of help, save your self the money and do the changes yourself :)
Coming from a BMW and N54 engine, I wish American manufacturers would put the oil filter on top of the engine and use a paper replacement one, it's so much easier.
Changed my oil today for the first time and couldn't get the oil filter off. 2016 r/t. Had to put the new oil in it with the old oil filter. Not happy. Thinking about buying a oil filter wrench and hopefully that will work. Or would it be best to have the dealership remove it?
Your in the same situation i was in the first time I changed it. I used three different removal tools to try to get it off. none of them worked, one of them actually broke. If your not feeling confident just bring it into the dealership, tell them to put the new filter on as quick as possible, so you don't lose too much of the new oil you put in. then top the oil off. That's what I did.
Always start your car after an oil change and looked underneath it just to check that there’s nothing leaking oil just in case you didn’t notice something and fucked it up
Ein Prosi :D Ahoi, thanks a lot !!!!!!!!! Yesterday i bought my 2015 R/T and a service ist comming soon.....I will take a 5W-40 fully synthetic oil . Andreas
It's been more than 3 years, and the Vikings haven't stopped disappointing us on Sundays.

“Make sure you use a jack stand so you don’t die..”
While this is true, I like how he says it casually 😂

Glad I could be of help! thanks for the support!
@@flynn88MN of course 🤘🏼
Can I try taking the filter out first to see whether it'll come off before I empty out the old oil?
No.
Engine Oil and oil filter changed perfect but what about the oil reset........ ?
That is easy to do, go to your oil life gauge and hold OK
What brand is the jack lift puck for the pinch welds ? Where can I purchase one ?
"in a pinch weld" is what its called. it looks like their website is down now

Use a torque wrench the oil filter cap says 25 nm of torque.
In a pinch you can also stab a large flathead screwdriver through the filter, then use it to crank the filter off. Not ideal, but...
@@Pigman1969 I’ve done that before and just ripped the filter to shreds.
Hey bro love the car thanks for the video very helpful tips
No prob thanks for watching!
Thanks for the help
How much is a oil change on these and how often do you do the oil change? Thinking of getting one but idk
7 qts. Every 7000 miles
Wheres the best place to put the jack stand?
I put it on the metal brace that the sway bar runs thru
I would use a oil filter wrench if that helps.

Thank you so much for this !
Not a problem glad it was help thanks for watching
I noticed you didn't have one, but do you recommend a oil catch can for the r/t?
Yes. Hemis burn through oil. Its a must
Do you ever run a few quarts through the top while the bottom is open till it runs clean?
No I've never done that. You will never get all the old oil out, I wouldn't worry about doing that it just sounds like a waste. Thanks for watching
Run water with dish soap to get all the oil out 😆... just kidding " Never do that bro" unless it's your best friend car.... maybe
Do you recommend getting a challenger?
Yeah I love mine. Got it new in 2015.
Good morning,
do you have the Partnumber for the Oilfilter for me ?

For the Challenger R/T 5.7 hemi, I used a K&N oil filter. part number: HP-2010 . For oil, 7.0 Quarts (6.62 liters) of 5w-20 synthetic oil. ein prosit!
