The thing about Meshuggah is... Well, let's see.
What do we know about Surveillance? It's constant. It doesn't bother about anything. It just goes and goes. Like the cameras in the streets, whatever happened - they don't care, they just record everything. And you can't do anything about it!
The song captures it perfectly. It is nasty - just as surveillance is. It's unstoppable and unbothered. It's relentless. This uneasy feeling when listening to this song, that never stops - it's the same feeling you feel when being watched. That's crazy!
One of the best Meshuggah songs to react to lyrics, or at least a good starting point.
It cannot be overstated how effing ridiculous this song is! Playing this on guitar, my wrists are dead before I get to the first chorus, and they just keep going. People talk about Bleed (and they should talk about Bleed) but I feel that this is on another level of intensity. Jens’ vocals is the cherry on top.
Just to prove your point even more... there's a reason they never play this song live, but they play Bleed all the time lol.

Strangely enough, this is probably Meshuggah's most easy-listening song. No weird poly-rhythms. Everything's symmetrical. Pretty clear verse-chorus song structure. It's pretty much a pop song. 😆
I forget how brutal that song is. They always have the trance effect regardless of the tempo, that in itself is super rare.....also.. Tomas is .....welll Tomas to the Haake. Beast mode engaged

This song is one of the only songs Frederick Thordendal wrote on a regular 6 string guitar. And using a traditional shuffle beat 😂.

I love this album; it’s my second favorite right behind Chaosphere. I saw Meshuggah on their tour in support of this album (Koloss); it was the best time I saw them out of the three concerts I’ve seen of theirs. The other tours I saw them on were Catch 33 and Obzen.
I was hoping for combustion or marrow. But this song is relentless and awesome

Always up for some Meshuggah! Have you ever heard "Do Not Look Down" from The ophidian trek? It is in my opinion the best track they have ever done.
Well this is the second Valentines in a row that you have posted a Meshuggah track. Seems like you are wokring towards a tradition here! But you are right this song is nuts. Even for a band as unique as Meshuggah, this particular track stands out. Because of the constant triplet double bass pattern that practically never stops, they don't play it live. Understandable!
If you want an unusual suggestion. I have one. It will blow your mind. Band is Means End. Song is Nox Aurumque. They are metal and they sing in Latin. The vocalist is INSANE. The band is renamed Chromoform. I recommend Fog of Words lyric video. The first one is a video of the band.

Try some more „accessible“ songs. I understand people ask for „Catch33“ or „I“ but I feel like you should go for „easier“ approaches first.
I can recommend „Marrow“, „I am Colossus“ and „Stengah (live from „Alive“). Groovy, heavy, yet not too complex to get behind of it.
