I’m so old I first saw him, and Larry David, in the cast of a late-night show called “Fridays” that was an ABC ripoff of Saturday Night Live. He played a lot of funny and weird characters in their skits but the one I can recall was him playing a little boy playing with his green army men and blowing them up making his own sound effects and all. 😂
Introverts aren’t necessarily shy people. They just regain energy by being by themselves, so there are plenty of outgoing introverts. Extroverts get energy by being with others while introverts expend energy doing that. I know I feel a lot of energy when first hanging with people but it can sometimes wain if the activity or group isn’t stimulating for me.
You're talking twaddle, the very definition of an introvert is shyness timidity and reservedness, what you're confusing it with is enjoying your own company which is not introversion that's just you can't tolerate alot of people and prefer to be alone, introverts often want to be social but they don't know how so they spend their alone time being miserable. Also the word is wane not wain.
@@reddykilowatt I do cos being one I get tired of the clap trap by non introverts who think they're introverts and think they're trendy cos they think being intolerant of people is the same as fearing socialisation and it's not. Introversion is not trendy it's a horrible loneliness where you desperately want to socialise but lack any confidence in being who you are cos you're afraid of being rejected. It's got absolutely nothing to do with being "drained" The only draining part is reading pretentious people on the net classifying themselves as introverts cos they think that makes them unique. A true introvert hates being introverted, they're not boasting about it.
@@JohnBloggs-m8l I think you are confusing being shy and lack of self confidence with being introverted. Shy people has anxiety and fear in social settings which makes them timid. Introverted people can do social interactions without fear but they don't enjoy it as much as extroverted people. People are different. No better no worse.
I can feel for Michael Richards, for what he went through in his life, and as a celebrity. My hat goes off to him for sticking to his principles and leaving it all behind (until Jerry comes along and occasionally coaxes him out of 'retirement', for the 'Curb Reunion' as well as his RUclips show 'Comedians Riding Around In Cars Getting Coffee'). This reinforces not only his promise to go away from the limelight to work on himself, but also his loyalty to his friends. If only we all had that commitment, to make ourselves better not only for ourselves, but our fellow man. I hope he stays well and has a long, happy life. My favorite Seinfeld episode is The Contest. Way ahead of its time. And so freaking funny! But The Pez Dispenser is the episode that got me hooked on the show: George: You can't break up with me, I've got hand Noel: And you're gonna need it! The writing in the show was so clever.
I just finished the book. It was revealing. I wouldn’t have known he was so different from his characters. It wasn’t great like his characters but it was worth reading most of it. I still feel that he is searching for and finding himself. It probably has a TON to do with not knowing his father. It was very insightful to understand the process and life of an actor. He’s had some tragedies in his life. Had incredible success. Made some mistakes and atoned. And is moving forward.
omg I'm almost crying. I never imagined it. I am so sorry for him and his mother. I had to google for her: she's so tiny. Poor woman, what a nightmare. I guess he inherited his huge height from his biological male contributor. It's so painful imagining his mother watching him growing and becoming a man, and asking herself "is he gonna look like him?" ...But he was her boy, too. Luckily he has her mother's eyes. Poor kid, what a tragedy. Thank you for your review, I'm a new subscriber since now.
Wow, if that end section was read out in a computer voice it'd be a perfect tonal match to fit in the Han Tyumi section of Murder of the Universe, the King Gizzard album 🤣 If you're veering into the realm of celebrity non-fiction, I'd be curious to hear your take on OJs If I did it, maybe paired with the american crime story show about the case?
I agree he needs to stop going over the 2006 incident he is obsessing, probably cos of guilt but being in the public eye will just make him look insincere in the end if he apologises too much, it was almost 20 years ago, everyone has long since moved on, there is a scene in Curb that references it though where screen Richards gets upset about something and says he wishes there was a way he could express his displeasure. And though I dont like picking favourites cos every ep was funny I often cite The Dinner Party from season 5 as my favourite cos its one of the first eps of Seinfeld I ever saw and has them in their trademark situation of being stuck in a situation, in this case the bakery. Jerry only did two seasons of the show by himself by the way not three but Richards is right, things got alot stupider after Larry left, he kept the characters grounded, Jerry wrote them as cartoons.
@@WhytheBookWins Yesss! And I love cinnamon too and apparently so does Jerry so that speech he gives about cinnamon being an underrated spice was genuinely how he felt, he talked about it more recently. There's some choice lines in that episode, the cinnamon speech and the black and white cookie speech, also George's statement that Pepsi is better than wine. People never cite this episode amongst the faves though so I like having it as a hidden gem of mine. Also I'm Australian and had never ever heard the word babka before and Larry liked funny words so I daresay he picked that deliberately for its sound.
He was drafted during Vietnam but is never sent over there. He is a medic, then starts up a theater group/road show. He befriends another guy working with him on the show and they start hanging out. Later, higher ups call him to their office and ask him about black market deals and people he is hanging around. He says he is just friends with the one guy, and he doesn't know about anything illegal going on. They tell him they want him to continue hanging out with this guy and report back to them on what he finds out. He tells them he is just part of the road show and isn't up to the task to be a snitch essentially and soon after, he is discharged.
Richards is overcompensating cos he had an outburst and he thinks people see him as a racist when in reality most people have forgotten the incident altogether, as indeed have they largely forgotten about Richards himself cos what's he done post Seinfeld of note anyway? The 90s was a long time ago now. He's stopped being relevant. Only Jerry and perhaps Julia continue to hold up their profile 30 years on cos Jerry was a stand up and never relied on TV anyway and Julia was the only one to have post Seinfeld success with other shows.

Nice synopsis. Wouldve liked to hear some detail of his military service. That rambling last section is reason enough for me to pass on the book.
