What really helped me a while back was some feedback from Chris Richardson after I got pretty frustrated trying to learn the second method. He basically said, bend your knees to get lower, and make sure to lift your back leg when “hopping” up the curb. That for me was the difference between nailing it virtually every time and only getting it sometimes. I know that’s the Jump part of these instructions, but it took more specific wording to help me get thru learning it. For the handful of people I’ve talked to about this who were learning, I said you’re basically just riding your tire’s bounce, and all the movements you’re doing is to help keep that bounce going and keep your OneWheel moving forward, so anything that stops either of those will cause you to fail. Therefore there needs to be some kind of hop/jump to allow the OneWheel to get up the curb in the first place, unlike the popover method. Great guide & video Jeff & Bodhi!!! Thanks for sharing 🙏
Shout out to Chris Richardson! Guy has some very cool, very helpful videos. Also thank you Bodie and Jeff for some really sound advice... You boys are wild
There are so many nuances to these tricks that is hard to convey, but I will definitely focus on this. I can't curb nudge to save my life rn, but I am bound to get it!
I'm beginning to work on nudging as much as I can at this point. This is by far the most instructive video with regard to the technical aspects an attention to detail with regard to this particular maneuver. Thank you!
If you have a fender, one way to recover if you stall out on a curb is to drag your rear leg forward against the fender while pushing gently down while simultaneously unweighting your lead leg. This helps to push the tire against the curb while tilting the nose up, thus activating the motor. If you time it right, you can use this technique to get over a curb even from a complete stop, with no momentum remaining at all.
This is the content we neeeeeeed. Also once we’re not worried about money I’ll buy some float plates. I’m the one of four onewheelers in town and I’m the only one who uses my OW for commutes and work (going to meetings to inspecting buildings) so I get a lot of miles and I’d love to make those commutes and meetings and weekend trails a lot more fun.
Nice way of explaining it for folks! Please consider a break down of either 1) a perfect body varial (keeping that board level) 2) a nose slide pop-over on a parking block, or 3) a perfect shovit (keeping that board level).
Just got my XR Saturday along with my float plates! Love these videos, as my confidence grows I was looking up how to do this exact trick. Keep these coming, super informative!!
Need to start practicing this. Have the Float Plates on. Mostly worried about getting too much speed, not too little. Because in that case, Onewheel would stay to hang out with the curb and I would continue air surfing :)
Maybe just a nice little medium speed. If you're falling over the front then it's probably too much. Hung up on the curb then it's probably too little. Find that perfect balance in the middle.

Thanks for this, big help on getting over the curbs. Only question I have is what is the pouch your using as a cup holder? It's surprisingly difficult to find one that can stay on when doing trails etc
Great video guys can’t wait for the next one I watched this 5 times spent like 2 hours last night trying over like 200 times I just can’t get it to pop up over I’m going to take your tip with mission as I’ve been trying in my own custom shaping and think going to aggressive will let you know how it goes after watching this again and again. It frustrates me because I can drop a few feet off a ledge but can not pop up on a curb. I can bonk pretty much anything smaller then a curb but just can’t get it. Thanks again for a great video love supporting you guys
Thanks for the amazing walk-through! I would like to know how to power slide with Onewheel! second, does pressure of the tire matter when doing tricks??
Somewhat! A low PSI tire will create more grip and resistance when landing and a high PSI tire will make slides and spins easier. The trick is to find the perfect balance between soft and hard to get the benefits of both.
i love the added tiny onewheel demos.... i think they are an easy way to explain fundamentals and i think i may buy a tiny onewheel set to help wrap both mine and my fellow riders brains' around the curbslide setup..... i feel the first step to doing this (for me, very difficult) trick is to first understand what type of slide you are attempting and how to approach it, then the whole press the nose and line up the shoulders etc etc will follow. please correct me if i'm wrong as i am trying to learn this trick for a while now; a regular stance backside slide would require a regular riding stance approaching the curb with your front / chest side towards the curb... for a regular frontside it would be approach regular with backside to the curb.... obviously the same applies for switch. is this accurate? it may sound dumb but i have been trying to tackle the fundamentals of this for a while, and i use my snowboard knowledge to help me understand the onewheel but i have only been riding the snowboard for about 5 years now ( i shred tho, double black tree runs in aspen what what ).

I assume because it wasn’t high enough for the tire to get a grip. I was just wondering what your general threshold is in deciding how to get over something. Also, should you do anything differently if you have fangs on the front?
I think one missing piece to the puzzle is just having enough guts to continue pushing yourself up onto the curb or over the parking block. That's the part I'm working on.
@@TheFloatLife Yes, when I try it I'm about 70 to 80% committed. I've got to get that up to 100% just like any thing else that's new that you are trying. You guys have been an inspiration!

Probably flow and then you will want to maximize your jump reengagement. Unfortunately, the GT has this weird motor setting where it locks up when you jump off
Hey Jeff and Bodster, don’t murder me for bringing “training wheels “ into these two tricks but your thoughts please on trying these two elements with fins? Cheating right??
Hahahaha all good my dude! FF will actually make these tricks easier! Only problem though is you can become dependent on bad technique and get lazy so if you ever ride without FF then you'll have to break a bad habit and re-learn them which is harder than learning correct in the first place.

Will curb nudges fuck the board up if I put float plates on it? I know onewheels are tough cuz just a day or two ago I was riding and not paying attention and looking at my speedometer well I hit a brick column head on completely fucked up bumper and foot pad but everything still works I ordered new bumpers and pads for it but for now I'm rocking the duct tape
After I ended up crushing my front bumper, I made an order for a float plate and other shinny stuff from float-supply. Any recommended mode for a Pint to do this trick easier? Im kinda bumping my tire into a curb over and over lol
I noticed your tires compress pretty good in the video. I was just wondering what tire pressure you think is best for curbs? I weight 190 and have been running it at 18psi on a stock XR tire. Thanks
I’m having an issue and I need assistance. After a solid hour of working on the curb nudge I started to get it somewhat consistently but now my board is making a noise it never made before specifically when crossing over something that causes it to bonk slightly. The noise is usually just a single knock coming from the wheel. Is it possible that I knocked something loose with all the failed attempts to curb nudge most of which were just crashing the tire into the curb.

@@TheFloatLife i tried with 2 other xr! Turns off the same! :) looks like its a safety feature. If i give it a momentum not just hopelessly doing nothing, than it wont turn off!
Wait... is no one talking about the fender bodhi is using to climb that curb? 🤔
nice broach
Does having fangs on your board make this trick easier/harder/different?
We don't recommend those.
@@TheFloatLife interesting, why not?
Is this possible with fangs?
No clue. We think fangs are for lames
Can you curb nudge / climb parking blocks with land surf Fangs?
Probably, but might as well pop those suckers off and learn correct!
The Float Life 🤣🤣 they’re a pain to take on and off, but I might give it a go! Also: when are you guys dropping a video talking about your new TFL tire?! I’m not able to find any videos on it besides Scott M’s. MAHALO
Beats the Heck out of thrasher mags
I’ve been doing the run off 😳
Super common! Just make sure to push that front foot down and forward as you hop up. You got this!
I tried and failed! 😂 I’m not sure what happened, other than I felt like I was thrown - feet in the air, landing on my back! 😂. We shall continue to try though! 😜
Dang! Slow it down a little bit.

What PSI you kids at⁉️😎🤙
Usually 16-18 for the street
Is anyone impressed by one wheel tricks besides other one wheel riders?
Not really 🤷♀️
They should. Literally everything on onewheels is way harder than it looks
