Love the format of this video! Seeing the bonk on repeat while you described it allowed me to notice all the movements you were discussing. Thanks so much!
Yo man you said it perfectly. I do this on my euc and that sweet moment when you’re in the air is what I live for. I sometimes get a little air where my feet come off of the pedals then land back on them when the euc and I both hit the ground. So freakin sweet. Great video 🤙🏽
Thanks for the Tips and Tricks videos. Honestly, as a newbie, there are minimal “quality” videos to watch and learn from. You guys are awesome. Please keep the content coming. It’s much needed for this growing community. #muchlove
The Float Life going off crud man! Curb drops, etc. Anything small to big. There are tons of videos about going up stuff, nothing about dropping off stuff. Just my two cents... appreciate you guys!
Awesome thanks! Would be great to see you do a tutorial explaining what you think about when riding and you see a big root or crack or curb and decide whether to bonk or nudge or just de-weight and lift up and over, etc. like when does a small curb go from bonkable to a nudge? I tend to overthink these and would love to hear your thought process.
That’s a tricky one! You just have to make a judgement call based on size and hope you picked the right one! We still mess that up every once in a while, but it feels rad when you get it right!
I'm no expert, but I've been doing a lot of nasty trails lately and the best way to know is just experience and practice. Pad up and don't fear going down. Being afraid to crash is more likely to cause a crash. Just hit the trail, try different things and if something feels good, go back and do it again.. experiment. If it feels wrong, try it again with a different technique. Run the same exact short trail 20 times and try different things at different obstacles at different speeds and you'll very quickly learn your limits and skill level and understand what to do. After a bit (faster than you think) you'll start recognizing threats or sick trick opportunities way ahead of time. I hope this helps, because I was super sketched out by roots and sand pits until I just kept hitting them. Haha
The Float Life I’ve always been a fan of functional tricks; ones that are technical and stylish yet still useful for everyday riding and obstacle negotiations.
I’m doing very little bonks over big cracks in the street to where I’m lifting my feet off the board and do a nolie. But holly shit you guys are insane on these things how you can bonk like that.
Ya im a 220+ lbs and its the commitment to the trick but the fundamentals are the same. The only dynamic that changes imo is u have to be way more careful of overloads but it can work in ur favor cuz if u wanna go up or down a particularly aggressive bump like the ones bodhi is bonking in this vid but u can't quite bonk u can overload it to drag the tail as u drop or bump up the obstacle and than as the tail follows thru and bounces up it will basically auto balance the board. Now it won't work on all obstacles but where the curbs drop to the gutter for cars seem to be where I use it most. Some of them in vegas r nice and flush and other will fling u off ur board so fast u will get up with no front teeth
Love these videos they have been a huge help but I've been able to learn tricks on the one wheel because of that your music choices are great but could we lower the volume on the music a little so I can hear you better
Do you have advice on how to practice on a smaller scale or exercices to do before going straight for the bonk ? Also, as for the pop, is it just me or jumping off the board, even if rolling straight without even doing a bonk is hard ? I mean pushing yourself off the board to jump/swing is not easy since if you push harder from one leg you'll loose balance, and jumping both feet together feels ackward. I don't fully grasp this part
The key is to start small and work your way up! Start bonking over small rocks, roots, sticks, etc. then after you start to feel comfortable, go bigger!
this is so well instructed (and accompanied with shots illustrating it) that i actually understand it well enough to think it's something i could actually do, heh. thanks, man! how do you recommend building the confidence to try it?
Start by finding Macho Man Savage sunglasses! The pink hat will be for sale on the shelf above them. To pull those off though... yeah I need lessons too 😅
Just wondering if you’re using a custom shaping and those setting or a preset. Board looks so loose and forgiving. I’m certain skill set probably makes it look so easy but anything to help the new “old” guys to up their level is much appreciated.
Sup guys! Does it need to use body weight over the obstacle to bonk higher? Or just the acceleration movement should do the "bonking"? I've been bonking around trying to make them higher but it's not coming out...
The height will come from speed and how hard you push the board forward and down into the bonk. For a high bonk, come in fast, push it hard and quick while popping in the air pretty high. Send a video to my instagram (@bodhiharrison) and I can take a look! 🤙
Bonks in my steeze now, thanks. Working on the Shifty. But about day one. It was seemingly impossible the first few attempts. I pushed and popped but the board was logged onto the ground. So I just did some unweighted pushing and popping and stomping in my carving till I struck gold. The foot I call the lead foot that is the one over the sensor I had been shifting side to side while unweighting after my pushing and popping when soon I had my switch foot that is the foot on the tail rise up a lil' bunny kick. It doesn't take much at all to connect the combo to get some screech. Love that!
It looks like your tire is super soft (low psi) what would be a good pressure for a bigger guy (~240lbs). Do you really play with the psi for deep carves vs bonks vs trails?
How do I get more height? Got my XR a week ago and got like 84 miles on it got curb drops down i can climb small curbs and i can "bonk" but only like an inch if that much and if i try to go higher i leave the board.
The best thing to keep the sweat off your shirt, is to wear a cotton T-shirt underneath it. I often wear double T-shirts. And actually feel cooler. @6:18 was that early jump on purpose? Or is it possible to nail it every time? I ask, because you admit to nosediving on the landings occasionally. Great videos!
Guys awesome content but the audio needs mixed and EQed properly. Voice is too quiet compared to background music, and music is generally too loud during transitions forcing viewers to fiddle with the volume.
Thanks Bodi! About 1000 miles on my board I'm finally ready to try these tricks out
Love the format of this video! Seeing the bonk on repeat while you described it allowed me to notice all the movements you were discussing. Thanks so much!
Stoked. Been waiting for someone to do a more technical break down of the bonk. Gotta step my trail game up 💪🏼
The reflection in the shop window and your eyes tracking...😂🤣 😎
Another great video! You killed it Bodhi, such a great tutorial. Can’t wait for more content homie!! 🔥⚡️
Keep brining the banger tricks!

Thanks for posting this. Now its time to go out a try it
love your guys videos and passion to help us all out! my riding confidence and trick bag has blown up thanks to you guys!!!
Hell yeah keep at it!
Gonna finally try and get this nailed, sweet video to follow, watch this space!
Get it!!!!
Can you do a video about nose slides
For sure!
My board kept slipping out under me on the landing, like a rug being pulled. Now i understand why. Thanks for sharing 👍
Glad to help!
Awesome Video man! Great breakdown on the trick👹🤙🏻
Always finding spots to go hit in sac in your vids 🤙🏻
Dang we gotta quit giving away all our secrets!

Great vid! I'd love to learn how to do a shove it. It's the only simple/foundational trick that I don't know yet.
Dude that trick is so dang hard to nail consistently!
New year! Time to learn how to fly!! Thanks 🙏🏿 A1 tutorial right here🔥🔥🔥
XR comes on the 11th. Words can't describe how excited I am!
Congrats!!!!
Nice instructional Bodhi. I just subscribed
These breakdown videos just keep getting better and better! Thank you 🙏
Stoked you dig them! Any suggestion on what we should do next?
The Float Life I’ve always been a fan of functional tricks; ones that are technical and stylish yet still useful for everyday riding and obstacle negotiations.
bodhi is the best besides jake leary at explaining technique on onewheel. killing it bodhi.
i can't get enough of these vids. where do i submit clips to ride fir the float team? i have Parkinson's but I consistently do all these tricks
Just post rad videos to your socials and tag us!
Bodhi is the LeBron James of floating and Jeff is MJ 🐐
Jeff is more of the Larry Bird 🤣
bwahaha
Awesome comment
I’m doing very little bonks over big cracks in the street to where I’m lifting my feet off the board and do a nolie. But holly shit you guys are insane on these things how you can bonk like that.
Keep doing them and you’ll keep getting more and more air! You got this!
Bodhi, any tips for bonks and curbs for us plus sized folks? I feel like 220 lbs rider rider vs 140lbs changes dynamics of the board a bit
Idk if the dynamics necessarily change, I think we just have to commit a lot harder to do the same motions, which can be scary
@@Dangkles He's right! Its the same thing, you just have to trust it!

Coach Jeff cameo is everything 😂
Best tip is a balanced diet plus lots of exercise !
Thank you Professor Bodhi
Thanks Bo!
Do you guys do personal training? Cuz i don’t think i’ll be able to learn these tricks just from watching you all do them. YOU GUYS ARE SO GOOD.
Yeah dude, just swing by the shop and come shred!
I love this tuturial vids
Rad! Which one should we do next?
Great tips! What tire pressure do you run and how much do you weigh?
18 psi and I weigh 145
Back for more! What riding mode do you use?
@@jeffreytong I think they ride in Mission exclusively
26psi and 230lbs here. I think it's possible to be to fat to be attempting this?
what tire psi do you use for bonks?
Jeff - like 16ish. Bodhi - like 20ish
Love these videos they have been a huge help but I've been able to learn tricks on the one wheel because of that your music choices are great but could we lower the volume on the music a little so I can hear you better
Thanks for the feedback!
Cool footage dudes, you can bonk on a pint right?
Sure!
Great vid as usual... a little gutted you didn't bang abit of dizzy rascals- bonkers song in there tho 😅🤙
Damn, missed opportunity for sure!
So if I got this right, the push is using something as leverage while you push down on the front of the board to get it in the air?
Something like that!
Do you have advice on how to practice on a smaller scale or exercices to do before going straight for the bonk ? Also, as for the pop, is it just me or jumping off the board, even if rolling straight without even doing a bonk is hard ? Start small with bonking off a 2x4 or something and work your way up. You got this!
@@TheFloatLife ohh, a 2x4 makes sense -- thank you! i keep looking for shallow curbs, and unfortunately i haven't found one. but duh, a 2x4!
Can you guys show videos
With a 250 lb doing this, we all don’t weigh 120
Hey, we are at least 125 after a big meal!
Bonkz for DAAAYYYYYZZZZZ!!!
Love these!!! How about next a tutorial on how to be as cool as Bodhi?
Start by finding Macho Man Savage sunglasses! The pink hat will be for sale on the shelf above them. To pull those off though... yeah I need lessons too 😅
Macho Man Randy Savage glasses with confidence is a start
Unfortunately RUclips has a 10-hour video limit
Dang, I guess we’ll never know
@@TheFloatLife have to be a three part series then ! :-)

Nah dude, mission 100% of the time, every time.
The Float Life Thanks Brother.
how do you avoid the foot separation? i have a hard time landing my front foot the same place on the pad.
Just gotta practice a ton and it will come naturally
Sup guys!

A good rule of thumb is your weight divided by ten. So for you possibly 24!
yo i was wondering if you change riding modes or adjust the custom settings depending on what trick you are doing?
Nope! Mission 100%
What PSI does everyone ride? What riding mode as well???
Like 16 psi and mission always
How do I get more height? Got my XR a week ago and got like 84 miles on it got curb drops down i can climb small curbs and i can "bonk" but only like an inch if that much and if i try to go higher i leave the board.
Damn I had no idea you guys were fluent in Korean
Nice glasses maverick
Thanks Goose!
any thoughts on bonks and flight fins?
The fins aint for us
@@TheFloatLife can you elaborate?
@@swinefeaster We prefer a more skateboard style of riding and fins don't allow for that
Is your shop currently open for customers or this Covid crap keeping you closed physically?
Yup open everyday 9-3 as long as you rock a mask
I need more Steeze.
When I ride there's just lots of Dork and no Steeze. 🙁
HELP ME!
Be the steeze
Channel your inner Steezus
Is tire pressure relevant to this?
Bodhi, how about tire pressure? Lower it?
Higher pressure will pop more, but lower pressure will be more forgiving.
Can you do this with Pints?
For sure!
Thanks Randy Macho Man Savage
No problemo Brother!!!
hey just some feedback, the music is way overpowering your voice in the start, can't hear you clearly @1:37 currently
Thanks for the tip! We’ll keep that in-mind for future vids for sure.
Was going to leave the same comment. Needs better mixing
I liked the music
🙏🏾
Can I nudge or bonk on a pint?
How to tackle hot corners and close angles while street shredding
💥bam.if you keep that foot on the sensor and get that other foot to tap the tail your on the money 💰

Yup, gotta do it wrong to show the people!
Always wear an under shirt.....
What psi is recommended? I have Hoosier 5.5
16-18!

I enjoy things that send me plenty high 👌
✈️💨
Feel like Bohdi has blocked out of his mind the days he used to call it a bonk :)
Me looking this video : "hmmm ok, I think I get it..."
Me trying this outside on the streets : massive drama 😓
Guys awesome content but the audio needs mixed and EQed properly. Voice is too quiet compared to background music, and music is generally too loud during transitions forcing viewers to fiddle with the volume.

Yes tell me. HOW DO I BONK!?
My girlfriend loves bonking
😳
Did Emile Hirsch just teach me how to bonk?
Hahahahaha
I learned it truly is a "Bonk" haha just sayin
its called a curb and a jump, a bonk? Your just trying to be important.
