- Pixel2Style2Pixel is a StyleGAN Encoder for Image-to-Image Translation. This method proposed by this AI research paper is able to encode images of faces directly to the latent domain of the StyleGAN2 pretrained model, and the ways to apply this function are really fascinating. I think it's because the ai seems kinda bad at picking up on attitudes/facial expressions and probably also at displaying them.

the gman interpretation is scarily accurate, unnervingly so.
I think it has a tendency to do more "femalish" eyes, or at least more chill, soft eyes and more masculine mouth, and it's set on faces on their 30 or 40.

when you showed that it can even work with sketches, i realized that in the future this ai could be used to take police sketch artist sketches and find the real suspect from the witness's description, this technology could be ground breaking and really helpful in the future, maybe even soon

Could this kind of tech possibly help with instances where a CCTV image of a criminal is far too pixelated to be useful in identification? Or would it just make the face it’s programmed to?
Why don’t they take deliberately blurry videos of real people such as cops or citizens and see if it can accurately generate the image. Since its a known person they can just compare.
Those generated pictures are just an approximation.
You can't arrest someone just because an approximation image looks like him :-)

If anything the technology proves why it's dangerous to upscale images (many possible upscalings are possible, all different)

We're pretty close to uploading a selfie to a game and having the spitting image of ourselves (or anyone we want to play) as the protagonist.
That AI going from low res to high res imagery, not the faces, that revine footage was really impressive. Upscaling video just got more effective.
So now we will be able to figure out how the face of a person caught on a CCTV camera looks like
