Not just kids! The teachers who taught history classes at the school I attended until graduation seemed to focus on memorizing dates and names. It wasn't until I attended college that history lessons actually became more interesting, so students could actually understand its impact on our lives, culture, the whole world.
PhD in history here. This is an exciting video because it really humanizes these people. It's interesting how normal they look, and how difficult it is to relate to the historical paintings. For instance, the wives of Henry VIII all look very attractive now, while in their portraits it's hard to appreciate their beauty. I think I like Charles II as a rock star best. He basically WAS a rock star.
It's poignant seeing them brought to life for a few minutes, Machiavelli still looks like he's planning something and Lady Jane Grey looks like a thoughtful teenager. Their faces are full of character and intelligence, unlike the botoxed, plumped faces of some famous people.
Yeah, but the problem is that they still have those exagerated features that were made with intention by painters back then. Even modern painters will exagerate with certain features that they find interesting.
Even more startling than Louis XIV being imagined as a punk rocker in a leather tank top, is having the Parisian cityscape in the background [complete with the Eiffel Tower built 174 years after his death]. Having endured scary times of rioting in the city as a child, Louis would always loathe Paris and spend as little time as possible there- which is WHY he built the gigantic Versailles Palace on its outskirts and ran all of France from there instead of its official capital!
I descend from Louis XVI,(and all the French Kings back to Charlemagne in the year 804,) from the mixing of Louis XVI blood with that of a "woman of the night" in Louis's time. A baby momma, basically. So we descend from ½ Royal blood and ½ baby momma blood. True Story! Vive La France!

I was glad to see Joan of Arc since no portrait of her exists, images and sculptures of her are due to imagination. So interesting. I was waiting for you to use a modern photo of Brian May to update the portrait of Isaac Newton. The resemblance between them has been noted many times, partly because it's really uncanny. The portrait of Stalin was especially surprising. I guess it's easier to understand now how he was able to cause so much trouble.
Seeing these historical characters looking like modern day people, reminds you that they were real flesh and blood people, which considering the things many of them did, is a scary thought.
It makes me wonder if 50 years from now someone takes a picture of me and re-created it back to life. Would it look like me, or would it look like a version me? It’s fascinating. I love these shows !
Absolutely exquisite. One of the most well done videos on RUclips. There were many moments of seeing the actual vulnerability of people usually seen as powerful in history books.
Great video. I am suprised how much younger some of them look in modern outfits. Loved how you made Charles Darwin look. In the green, probebly finding insperation for his "Origin of Species".
I fully agree. I admit heartily disliking Henry Vlll 's mean little mouth in that slab of a face as he aged, but his reputation of being a handsome young man is deserved.
Amazing video! I was so moved! It was like finally getting to meet these enigmatic characters of times bygone and discover that they were "just" people.
According to the updated version, I notice a resemblance with several people living among us: French actors Anais Demoustier as Joan of Arc, Isabelle Huppert as Catherine of Aragon, Ludivine Sagnier as Anne de Cleves. The younger Sting looks like Antonio Vivaldi and Florence Nightingale as Catherina Zeta Jones.
Florence Nightingale was amazing . A few others were beauties. Several guys looked handsome, Caesar looked like a business man. Would be neat to go back in time, or see a modern day person of them.
what great people have come before us, how humbling to just see the lineup of now long past celebrities, who'll never be forgotten for the great contributions that have helped pave the way to our ever-advancing civilization!

Florence Nightingale is clearly the hottest one in the group. She is stunning.
She is hot to trot, it's true!
OMG this was amazing 😮 thank you! You create what we imagine and connect the future and the past making history accessible to everyone 🎉
Fabulous in every way. Brings them alive and makes them more reachable. Brilliant! 🌠
Akhenaten looks a lot more normal when you "see him in the flesh" so to speak. He always looks like he's an alien or something with his busts/murals.
Vivaldi!! He's reincarnated as Ed Sheeran!!😂😆❤💖💗👍👍👍👍
I thought that too.
George Frideric Handel is SAM SMITH
So interesting. I was waiting for you to use a modern photo of Brian May to update the portrait of Isaac Newton. The resemblance between them has been noted many times, partly because it's really uncanny. The portrait of Stalin was especially surprising. I guess it's easier to understand now how he was able to cause so much trouble.
I think Charles II took the Brain May mantle 😂 He definitely looked the Rocker part.
Yes I remember seeing him posting fan posts on Instagram
Brian May is Sir Issac Newton, he discovered the philosopher's stone and used it.
Keep it quiet.
@@jeffcarroll6553 I know! Are we the only ones who have noticed that you never see the two of them together?
@@snowmonster42 😄📛 release no more information, you never know what you might set in motion.
I’m almost in tears. It’s like history is coming to life right in front of my eyes!
Seeing these historical characters looking like modern day people, reminds you that they were real flesh and blood people, which considering the things many of them did, is a scary thought.
Handel and Bach. I would listen too them for DAYS while doing art. INCREDIBLE. Your inspiration of such a artistic new event.
It makes me wonder if 50 years from now someone takes a picture of me and re-created it back to life. Would it look like me, or would it look like a version me? It’s fascinating. I love these shows !
What a beautiful work! Some of them took me to tears.
Just amazing work!! Well done!!
Brilliant work! A walk through history
Florence Nightingale with her false tan is accurate. Charles II looks like Brian May of Queen!
Love seeing historical figures 'modernized' so it creates a stronger connection with us today. Also love the music.
Henry v111 was the most remarkable to me, seen as a present day young man, for reasons I can't quite explain. The whole video was captivating. 10/10.
The music made it.
I fully agree. I admit heartily disliking Henry Vlll 's mean little mouth in that slab of a face as he aged, but his reputation of being a handsome young man is deserved.
Boy, Florence Nightingale looks just beautiful.
That's really intense. 👌
The prettiest is "Florence Nightingale".
Catherine Zeta Jones
She could nurse me anytime!
Totally agree
Amazing video! I was so moved! It was like finally getting to meet these enigmatic characters of times bygone and discover that they were "just" people.
According to the updated version, I notice a resemblance with several people living among us: French actors Anais Demoustier as Joan of Arc, Isabelle Huppert as Catherine of Aragon, Ludivine Sagnier as Anne de Cleves. The younger Sting looks like Antonio Vivaldi and Florence Nightingale as Catherina Zeta Jones.
Charles II almost turned into Frank Zappa!
and Ed Sheeran as Antonio Vivaldi...
Yes I'm younger then ludivine but I would Marry her and Anne of Cleves
Florence Nightingale was amazing . A few others were beauties. Several guys looked handsome, Caesar looked like a business man. Would be neat to go back in time, or see a modern day person of them.
Interesting how Flo Nightingales breast swell to 2024 proportions as per historical accuracy.
Florence Nightengale looking absolutely smashing. 🥰 I can also see why Benjamen Franklin was such a ladies' man. 😂
Florence looked gorgeous.
Florence..she scrubbed the Floors in Crimea...Dedicated defined..
She has bigger boobs now than yet
The today version has bigger boobs, bigger eyes, and a thiner nose. Of course she is prettier than yet.
I like to think these people really looked like this, because the artwork in a lot of cases, makes them look unpleasant. Absolutely love your work.
Willem Dafoe can play Michelangelo and Adrien Brody can play King Henry VII, their resemblances are quite remarkable.
I swear I saw Willem Dafoe as soon as the photo popped up too!!
No. 1: Isaac Newton 👀 = brains and good looks.
Honorable mention for Charles II Stuart and Vlad Tepes.
Queen Anne wowed me the most. In her modern portrait she was beautiful
I thought she was black
Superbly done!
This was very moving and emotional for me. I felt like I knew many of these people. Well done!
Amazing job - Thank you very much!
what great people have come before us, how humbling to just see the lineup of now long past celebrities, who'll never be forgotten for the great contributions that have helped pave the way to our ever-advancing civilization!
this video is INCREDIBLE, thank you!!
This was awesome! Thank you for including some of the great composers in here! Loved the Vivaldi rendition.
I never knew that so many of our modern celebrities are actually reincarnated historical figures:
1:37 Christopher Columbus, aka Dan Blocker
2:53 Henry VIII has been reincarnated as James Corden?
3:07 Catherine of Aragon came back as Hayley Westenra
3:28 Jane Seymour didn't die, she just changed her name to Gwyneth Paltrow
4:04 Catherine Parr and Susan Sarandon: Switched at birth?
5:30 Rembrandt and Jerry Stiller: Two great artists, gone too soon
5:37 Queen Anne = Wynona Ryder
7:10 Dick Cavett was really Thomas Jefferson? Who knew?
7:40 The great composers, starring young Brendan Fraser as Mozart and Peter Falk as Beethoven
8:00 Marie Antoinette came back as a young Maggie Smith
8:58: Abraham Lincoln is... Abraham Lincoln. I mean, really, there's nobody else he COULD look like.
9:10 Tonight, Zendaya stars as Flo Nightingale, RN
9:40 The part of Young Stalin will be played by Kevin Jonas
And William Dafoe as Michelangelo
Stalin maybe Keanu Reeves, he looks like John Wick
You forgot Greta Thunberg as Mary I.
@@CorazonMexicaPretty good. Nobody mentioned Lorne Greene (Ben Cartwright) for Beethoven. BTW, seems that a lot of prominent people had long noses back then. There were many different portrait artists.
08:35 Jim Carrey
Unreal, this is one of the best video's I've seen. Well done!
MAGNIFIQUE!!!
The clothing is exhilarating....
the hair marvelous and befitting each persona.
Excellent rendition.
Exciting ! Thxs Mystery Scoop 👍
