Great video, brother Lovell!! MC Lyte's Lyte As A Rock; classic! The Stolen Moments album looks very cool; I need to check it out.... Wow, that's a very nice gift from your nephew... All great stuff... when Rap / Hip-Hop music was something to be proud of 😊
Eve thanks for watching how have you been i think you will dig that Stolen Moments album all the great jazz meets hip hop artists on there. My nephew truly looked out for me big time I appreciate you stopping by have a wonderful week.
I'm glad you got a better version of the Easy E album! West Coast, man! One of my dearest friends from those festival days grew up right in that area of Compton and another from Cherry St. in Long Beach, so we'd joke with the line "C-O-M-P-T-O-N and the city they call Long Beach." Man, I know that whole song haha. We lost one at 25 to lupus and the other at 50 while he was jogging. He was the most fit man I ever knew. And he could play Miles on the keyboard.
Dope tag L. That Gang Starr is crazy! I'm originally from Milwaukee and when I would go over to Chicago to dig, I would listen to that rap radio station. The first time I heard Fugees "Killing Me Softly" was when it played on that station. I miss digging in Chi. Big ups to George's Music room, Just Dance,Reckless, Second Hand Tunes, & the old Grammaphone. You went hard on the O.C. That Roy Ayres original is crazy. I've only seen that one in the wild once ever, about 15 years ago. Couldn't afford it. It was a promo for $100. Thanks for inspiring me to do a 2024 rap tag.
Darrell D thanks brother man you video was so inspiring your collection is so deep I even dug your video on KRS One . Man you remembered all the shops in the Chi a lot of those shops I build my record collection your hometown Milwaukee is city I love I visit frequently over the years musical memories in Kilbourn and Acme Records is a favorite of mine . That Roy Ayers I found at Dusty Groove some years ago before their prices got crazy . I still stoked to have found that Gang Starr never saw Gang Starr live but I saw Guru Open for House of Pain in ‘97 at the Metro his freestyle was so dope I will always remember that . Take care brother Darrell D.
@@MrLovell1971 Musical memories is a great shop. You can barely afford anything in there but they definitely got gems. Never heard of Acme records. Thanks for checking out the Krs vid. Peace.
Thank you Jon it’s still a lot hip hop records I wish I own . I definitely have a decent amount of cds I’m still slowly adding you definitely should do a tag I know you have some killer hip hop records .
Cool video man, I need a copy of PE fear of a black planet. I had it on cassette and CD back in the day , my vinyl collection was stolen back in 96 lost most all my rap . Still working slowly to rebuild . There is just so much to replace and so many I’ve forgotten about. Respect
Yup - cassette was pretty much how we listened to rap. Though those original 12 inches we had since they were big in the NY area. No albums, just singles. Too bad about The Chronic.
Great video!!! Thanks for the shout out!! No wonder I can’t find a copy of that Face debut 😂 you got 2!!!! I’ve got a Scarface story as well, was supposed to have been done a video about it. That Kast trifecta is everything!! I remember when Aquemini came out, it was everywhere!! Being from the South, it was huge. Our school band would play OutKast and get the whole school crunk!!! 😂Again great vid, keep it up 👍🏽
Junes thanks brother man I’m glad you enjoyed it lol I’ve been after that Face all these years and it came in twos . I really dug OutKast when they came out the Source Awards didn’t show love but they got their due later they was big as hell. I appreciate you brother have a great week.
Peace Lovell... solid tag. Congrats on the Redman and Face OGs... know you were looking for those. ("Skew it on the barb" was with Raekwon... fire track) ATLiens was the 5-mic album imo. Stay solid.
Amazing episode. Love the B&W Miles Davis portraits in the background
Thank you Sean for watching .

Old school Dusty Groove - I remember that spot. I lived around the corner on Division St. In '97.
That spot was so cool and chill like a boutique
UTFO!! Bangin' for sure. Great tag LA! Gonna jump on this one for sure! Some great picks here. Rick Da' Rula! lol.
Thanks Brandon Can't wait what you pull .
Spottieottiedopalicious! I don’t have enough hip-hop on vinyl to do a response to this tag. I really enjoyed this, Lovell. ✌🏻

I am from down south and the narrative around the Aquemini 5 mics around here was "THE GAME IS OURS NOW!!!!" lol.
