Hi Lovell, I really enjoyed seeing some of your collection. You are a big help to someone like me that is trying to absorb as much information as I can jazz related. Take care my friend.
It's great to catch up with you Lovell. I have that Meditations album! I got it at a record fair on the same day I got A Love Supreme. I want to hear Tauhid....Karma has always been a favorite, and I like Pharoah's Rejoice album from the 90s. oh man....Dialogue!....that's the one that got me started on Bobby Hutcherson. I hope to see more of you in 2024!
Thank you Randall long time brother I’m going to check out your tag I think you will love that Tauhid it’s a masterpiece I can’t wait for that dialogue when it come out Happy new Year .
Paul thanks so much for watching Blakey is definitely my top drummer 🥁 in the game he has so many albums you must own . I really dug your Something Else comparison video.
On point Lovell. I really don't know if I'll do the jazz tag but seeing yours makes me want to. That question about showing a stereo / mono pressing I figured you'd be all over that. And great choices for a free jazz entry point. Pharoah in general is a great idea.
Dom thank you and a major thank you for the Ahmad Jamal you should do it you have aome amazing jazz pieces in your arsenal. I’m thinking of doing Stunty vinyl tag it has some great questions .
Thanks brother I loved a Love Supreme is a masterpiece ever since I saw the Spike Lee Mo Better Blues it was my gateway to John Coltrane his body of work is a must I really appreciate you for stopping by Brandon have wonderful rest of the week.
Wow. You have some amazing jazz lps there. Your enthusiasm and passion really come through. Look forward to watching more of your vids to learn more about jazz. Enjoyed watching! Happy 2024.
Dom’s VCLT game is strong. I got my Big Beat Blakey from Shuga up there in Chicago. Billy Harper Quintet is at the Smoke Jazz Club in NYC Jan 18-21. I let Michael know. Great tag Lovell. Peace.
Dave thanks brother for stopping though I’m glad you enjoyed the Tag . That cool you grabbed Blakey in the Chi town. I definitely going to let Mike know when I visit New York along with Dom .
Incredible finds Lovell! After getting the UHQR I was able to find a VG+ copy of John Coltrane A Love Supreme (Speakers Corner) which sounds awesome as well. Not sure which one I like better lol. 🙂
Thanks for the video man. Killer selections. You have so many multiples that I wish you could do a couple comparison videos. But yeah killer find on that Byrd - don't see those too often in that condition.
Your so welcome brother it’s was fun to do a video I finally had time to dig back into the collection the questions was on point hope you find more important pieces in 2024.
Lovell, thanks for showing ''Blues For Allah''. The Grateful Dead were at their core, an improvisational ''jazz'' band. I saw them perform live at least 50 times, they reached the same heights as the classic Coltrane Quartet. Ornette Coleman, David Murray and Branford Marsalis jammed with them at some live shows. Jerry Garcia plays on Ornette's ''Virgin Beauty'' album.
Michael that’s awesome you saw the Dead they are the quintessential jam band Blues for Allah blew me away the musicianship top notch I believe they reached the heights they improvise on the fly they are truly connected with the Jazz greats. I would have love to see Brandford Marsalis playing with them he a killer sax player . Michael I so happy you enjoyed the Tag have a great rest of the week.
Excellent grouping of mono/stereo✊🏻☮️oooo heck yeah!!! BLUES for ALLAH!! My fav of favs(studio) from the Grateful Dead✊🏻☮️ Every time I see someone show or I see an album by Jackie Mc. I think of you Lovell✊🏻☮️happy new year to you and your family...peace🤘🏻☮️Lis 😎🎶🙏🏻✨
Some awesome OGs on display here, Lovell. My only Blue Note original pressing is 'Goin' Up' by Freddie Hubbard. Unfortunately, it's been very well loved. ☹
Bruce nice OG Going Up is one of Freddie’s best I love to hear that it’s a hard one to track down love it brother well loved is awesome I have some blue note like that also . I appreciate you commenting and thank you for watching hope you find even more killer records this year.
Yeah but if you go to New York we're going to expect you to do a crossover with the Jazz Bums and maybe persuade Dom to drive down. Thanks for the latest dose of vinyl envy!
Thank you Joe I will definitely will do that and schedule a meet up with the both Mikes and Dom I know they will be game for a dig . I appreciate you for watching have an awesome weekend.
Steve thanks man Free Jazz is an acquired taste it can drive you nuts when the instruments screaming at you at all ends . I dig it when I have a crazy day at work. I’m a big fan of Hard bop and modal and the Avante garde of Eric Dolphy he was a genius .
Killer albums, man! I agree with you on a lot of your selections. Byrd In Hand is so damn good. Here Am I is easily one of Byrd’s best compositions. Superrrr killer! Blues for Allah is a great pick! You’re the first person I’ve seen shown it. Help on the way / slipknot is one of my favorite Dead songs too. Happy new year, man! Hope 2024 continues to be a fruitful year for you
