I’m looking into getting a sublimation printer and wondered how to make bigger designs and you completely answered my questions. Thank you for the great tutorial!
Thank you for sharing. This was one of the easiest videos to follow. I'm new to Silhouette so watching you show how to print such a large image helped tremendously. My printer prints up to 8.5x14" paper. I didn't have adhesive spray but I did tyape down my image with heat transfer tape & painters tape around the borders. It came out nicely for my 1st try :)
Glad it was helpful! Our apologies for the delay in response and we hope you've found the answer but if you are still having any troubles, please feel free to write in to mail@designbundles.net or join us in a live chat so we can help with your next project! - Dawn 🙂

ty for sharing this. I dont do alot of big projects so i never felt the need or want to buy a big heat press. Because of this I thought being able to do the occasional big item, like a welcome mat would be impossible
I am definitely going to try making a larger than printer capability sublimation project, but I need to figure out how to get the various parts of it to print:) So, now I am on a mission! Maybe Inkscape will work similarly to Silhouette in that it will print just what it sees in the page borders and I can move it around. Thanks for the video!
Hey Amanda, this mat is 100% polyester, you can check the tag and see what the material content is. This one is from Home Depot and is very popular among sublimation crafters. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Lovely design! I have a question not exactly related to this tutorial BUT it is about sublimation. Is it possible to use photograph paper, matt or glossy finish, for successful sublimitation on a poly/cotton shirt? I know more poly content better the result. Thank you, Becky & Design Bundles.
I love your videos, I have a Sawgrass for Sublimation and 1 for chromoblast and the epson f570 the f570 was a game changer I can print far and wide with that thing lol
Great tip, thought I was restricted to printer size so thanks. I am currently awaiting delivery of my sub printer so brand new to sublimation. Can you let me know the composition of the mat, as I thought textile sublimation was only possible on 60%+ poly, but as I said I'm brand new to it all, having only done vinyl in the past. Thanks 😁
Hey Lisa! Congratulations on joining the sublimation world, we love it here! These doormats consist of 100% polyester fibers and recycled rubber bottoms. Hope this helps and yes, I would recommend using 100% polyester when you can, I personally won't sublimate anything under 65% poly. Good luck! ---Becky
"Subscribed" I wasn't sure where to post this, so I've picked the lastest video. Thank you for a chance to own Cameo 4. I've watched many of these videos and love the information.
Can you help with doing a men's shirt? My husband wears a 2xl and I'm having issues figuring out sizing. Just ordered an Epson just for sublimation and my ink comes Wed! I've been using printable HTV and it's been annoying using so many sheets to try to get it to fit right. Also, I've heard you can use normal printer paper with sublimation ink. Is this true? You're the absolute best at explaining this by the way!!!
Hey Bridget! What Epson did you purchase? Even for a 2XL shirt, I would stay around 11.5" wide. That is the size I use for my husband, because you lose a good amount of the width of the shirt when it goes around the sides of the body. I have a video coming on how to combine images on letter size sheets, I'll try to get it out for you quickly. You can technically use regular printer paper for sublimation, but I recommend printing and pressing right away. Normal paper is meant to absorb the ink, whereas sublimation paper is specially coated to keep the ink on top. Hope this helps! ---Becky
I found you by chance last night and have watched several videos you have done. Very helpful information. I too am limited in the total size I can sublimate on. I have an epson et-4760 and am limited to 8.5 by 14 is the largest. I do not have the paper for anything other than the 8.5 by 11. I'm wondering if this technique will work for tumbler designs. I'm subscribing today and getting notifications. Your videos are very helpful. I also have purchased a ton of things from design bundles. Great site and sister site also. Thank you for all you do!
Hey Lilian! Anything is possible but Cricut's limited printing area severely limits larger projects like this. For example, we would probably have to print 6-8 sheets to achieve a design this big. But where there's a will there's a way and nothing is impossible! ---Becky
Just t in case you are not aware the basic silhouette studio is free to use and download and you do not need the machine to use it to print. I have the cricut and but limited to the printing size I use the silhouette software to print for sublimation. I have since upgraded to the business edition because you can save in the svg format and be able to bring it into the cricut. I also have since bought the silhouette machine to be able to print and cut larger but like I said you do not need it to print with their software. Check it out .www.swingdesign.com/products/silhouette-cameo-license-code-for-studio-business-edition when you go to this page scroll down and you will see the basic for free , if you then decide to upgrade to the business it is showing to be 59.99 to upgrade as of this date. It is a one time fee ... Hope this info helps
I am curious if you could have printed the picture and the words separately, subbed the pumpkins, cut the words apart to place them, and then subbed them? And still trimming of course.
Love your videos!!! Did you have your door mat on a heat press mat when you pressed it or did you just have it on the table? Did you have anything under it?
@@DesignBundles Question I bought these exact mats and used a easy press2 at 400 degrees for 60 secs with parchment paper and i got burnt apota on my rug. Help?
I was wondering because in the printer settings there is a user defined setting, if you could print larger than 13x19, like a setting of 13 x 24? I have ordered a roll of sublimation paper to try it.
pressed this for 60 seconds at 400, used my easy press but I think I need to press it for longer. the areas that got more 'pressing' were colored better. I wasn't sure what medium pressure was. I think it will pass - but some of the colors didn't show up very well. just my experience so thought I'd mention it.
Thanks for sharing! Yes, I can imagine some fading with less pressure, sorry I did not elaborate more on using the EasyPress for this project. ---Becky
So I noticed there is an area in the middle where the color isn’t as vibrant, is this due to the thickness of the overlapped paper area? In general is it ok to have that amount of overlapping? It seems it would hinder the temperature a bit.
@BeckyDykes I absolutely love your tutorials, you make everything seem so simple. Would you mind telling me what those mats are made of, I'm in Australia so no home dept here so I need to find an alternative. Also, using a heat press, does it matter if you overlap an area you have already pressed?
Hey Jane! Thanks for watching and don't be scared! I use Krylon Repositionable Spray for all my sublimation and I press at 400 degrees F for 60 seconds. Hope this helps and good luck with your doormat! ---Becky
I love your videos. I have just bought silhouette business addition, I was having so many problems using the free version. Well the big problem is still there, every time I hit the print button my program crashes and tells me it didn’t save. I have noticed others having this problem and they show how to fix it in windows, but I have a Mac.....can you help? Thank you
Hey there! Sorry to hear about your problems with the software. Have you considered going back to a Legacy (prior) version of the software? I had Print-and-Cut errors when I was on one of the more recent versions (4.4). I'm now on version 4.3.370 I believe. Check out this video if you need help or a better idea of what I'm talking about. Hope this helps! ---Becky ruclips.net/video/EA1SUhdX1hk/видео.html
Hey Carol, that's correct, unless your nozzle becomes clogged or you have drips of the adhesive land on your print. It's happened to me sometimes but not often. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hello. My question is what colors does printer need to use for this ? Sublimation or normal ink? And Does Doormat need to be poliester? Thank you so much for reply
Hey Becky awesome video! I have a couple questions for you. I see that you use a 7710 I have a 7610 brand new never used that I wanted use for my sublimation. Can you tell me what ink and paper you use? Also did you prime your printer with the regular ink first or did you just use sublimation? Cartridges? And for pressing what pressure are you using? I have a 12 x 15 Swing Away heat press with a knob to adjust pressure. It also comes with a mug and a plate press so I am totally interested and understanding pressure for all of these items. Also one last question since I have Cricut machines and some other programs, is silhouette Studio something I can use stand-alone for Designing only? And is it a free software or do you have to pay for it? I hope you don't mind all these questions but I am literally getting ready to set up my system. Thank you so much you're amazing!💕
You don't have to have a silhouette to use the software. It has a monthly subscription like design space does. You can save the work and then import them to your cricut.
Hey Nancy! Sorry it took me a little bit to get back with you. Congrats on the 7610, I started with a 7510 using refillable cartridges and it was a fantastic printer. I use InkXPro Sublimation Ink from Amazon and A-Sub paper, also from Amazon. I did not prime my current printer with the regular cartridges, although I did start off with "regular" ink in my old 7510 and just flushed the printheads by performing a few head cleanings. For most projects with sublimation, the pressure is going to depend on the substrate you are using. For these doormats, the pressure isn't super important. But there are more pressure sensitive items that you will use light pressure for. You'll want to do something called the "dollar bill test" until you are more experienced in feeling the pressure on your machine. If you can insert a dollar bill into your press, close it, and the dollar bill does not budge when you tug on it, then you have heavy pressure. If you can easily remove it, then you have light pressure. Also remember that thicker substrates will add to the pressure, so you'll have to lighten it up even more on those, if necessary. I've switched over to using my EasyPress for many of the sublimation projects I do that are light pressure, because it's so easy to control. And last but not least, yes, you can use Silhouette Studio as a stand alone software without a machine. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hey Giovanna! The one I have heart crafters talk about is the Scotchguard Water and Sun Shield, but I haven't tried it myself. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Quick question or two 😂...I am waiting on my sawgrass to be delivered so VERY NEW to sublimation. Can you heat press over an area more than once for these larger images? It appeared that you overlapped at times. Just want to know if there is anything I should be mindful of when pressing wide format designs?
Hey Kristi! Welcome to sublimation! I did overlap at times with my EasyPress and it didn't change anything with my design. I actually have a larger heat press to use for these when I do them regularly, but the EasyPress shows better in videos. If you are pressing more than once, you just have to be so very careful not to move your design by mistake or you will see ghosting. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hi. Im new to sublimation. Did my 1st last night on a blanket. I love this idea and was wondering is this software for the cameo. I have a cricut cutter
Hey there! Yes, the Silhouette Studio software was designed to work with the Silhouette cutting machines, but you can still download it for free and use it for sublimation without a Silhouette brand cutter. Hope this helps! ---Becky
I am trying to sublimate an oversized aluminum sign. However, I am having trouble with seeing the line where the pages line up and some of the colors bleeding through. Do you have any suggestions?
Hi there! Can you face the design upwards and add a small piece of tape to the bottom and top first? Then, flip the design and tape the back from there 🙂 - Dawn
Can u tel me if u still have the sku for the mat from Home Depot? Also, when not on sale, what is the regular price? I don’t live near a Home Depot, but I have family who does, so I can send them over when I find it on their website. Thanks.
Hey Kim! I will give you the link for the door mats at Home Depot's website. I think the normal price is around $13? Hope this helps! ---Becky www.homedepot.com/p/TrafficMaster-Racetrack-Gray-18-in-x-30-in-Rubber-Backed-Door-Mat-TH141103-20/206281064
How do y,oh do that with an Easypress. I tried and almost no ink transferred. I had to press each part about 6 times and it still wasn’t completely covered.
Definitely makes sense Jessica! I didn't have any issues with it being overlapped. When I first started doing this, I was afraid the overlapping paper would cause inconsistencies in the heat applied (ink activation), but it's really been great. Hope this helps! ---Becky
can you confirm that as you do several presses - overlapping and repressing an area that you've already pressed, won't screw up anything? in other words - you can't overcook an area? I do have a heat press 15 x 15, but also have the easy press and I can put my mat on a flat surface if I use that. my image is the full size of the inside of the border, so I know I'll have to make at least 2 presses. just concerned that re-pressing might over cook it. but 400 degrees at 60 seconds per pressing area? what amount of pressure do I need?
I have not had any problem with overlapping areas with the EasyPress or a regular heat press. These mats are already on the thick side for your heat press (thinking clamshell in my mind), so you may want to adjust your pressure. I recommend medium pressure for this project. Hope this helps! ---Becky
I am going to do my first door mat today I am concerned that when you use a heat press does having the black ridge around your design that it will not press flat because the black ring is raised
Hey Wally! Sorry for the delay, but I have not had this problem at all, even when using a regular (clamshell) heat press. So far, the black ring has not restricted my pressure in any way. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hey Shonda! I do not personally seal these with anything, but I have heard of some crafters using a UV spray to help them last longer in the sunlight. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hey Karren, I used the offset just to add a little separation between the text and the design, it keeps them from running together. Hope this helps! ---Becky
How do you not get the overlapping lines? I have been trying to sublimate garden flags and no matter what I do, I always have overlapping lines on my designs. Please help😩
Can I use regular tape to piece an oversized design? I pressed a sublimation garden blank & my tape lines showed through on my flag. Taped the back side of design with Cricut heat tape. Also taped design to blank & these lines didn't show through.
Yes the pieces overlapped & the only place the taped was on the flag was where I secured the design in a few places & there was no tape transfer there. You can see where I pieced the image together. This was taped on the back of the design, not touching the flag.
Hey Terredee! This is printed using Sublimation paper and Sublimation ink. I'm afraid that a laser or inkjet wouldn't work for this particular project. You can use inkjet printable vinyl or iron on sheets though, just not on a door mat like this one. Hope this helps! ---Becky

First time trying my rug melted on my heat press. Rug was 100% polyester. Guess I’m going shopping at home deport tomorrow after I clean my heat press.
When using my Cricut Easy Press on large designs, it leaves an outline of the press. How do I get rid of the outline or not get it in the first place? What am I doing wrong?
I am having a terrible time with this. I have watched/rewatched this tutorial/video and just cannot get this to work. I keep getting "extra" rectangles, my sizing doesn't stay when I input it. Under transform, I have icons for "scale" but I do not see that in the video (nor do I know how to get rid of this)! I am not familiar enough with Silhouette unfortunately. I am very frustrated to say the least. So much for larger projects :(
Hi Eva this is one of our older videos so a lot of things could have change. Please check out this one and let us know if it helps ruclips.net/video/VzOEBXha5to/видео.html
Hey Karin! I just moved part of the design off of the page, printed, then moved the design to the other side. You should be able to see the process I use at about the 3:30 mark. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Unfortunately not. You'll need more even heating. Also, an iron usually has the steam holes in the bottom, which means there won't be pressure and heat in those spots. Sorry I don't have better news. ---Becky

@@DesignBundles thank you for all your awesome videos
Hello is the sublimation color permanente or not i lean durability
Yes, sublimation is permanent.
Any suggestions on using a spray to avoid fading?
Hey Giovanna! The one I have heart crafters talk about is the Scotchguard Water and Sun Shield, but I haven't tried it myself. Hope this helps! ---Becky
I love your videos, I subscribed and will watch you on a regular basis. Thank you. = )
Quick question or two 😂...I am waiting on my sawgrass to be delivered so VERY NEW to sublimation. Can
you heat press over an area more than once for these larger images? It appeared that you overlapped at times. Just want to know if there is anything I should be mindful of when pressing wide format designs?
Hey Kristi! Welcome to sublimation! I did overlap at times with my EasyPress and it didn't change anything with my design. I actually have a larger heat press to use for these when I do them regularly, but the EasyPress shows better in videos. If you are pressing more than once, you just have to be so very careful not to move your design by mistake or you will see ghosting. Hope this helps! ---Becky
How do you know what size to set font for mats?
lovely♥ thankyou for this tutorial/demo Happy Fall!
Off subject : can spray adhesive be used when sublimating a tumbler ?
Yes, just keep the spray very light. it doesn't take much
---Becky
Thanks so so much for replying. I will try and navigate the software. I appreciate it.
What are the sizes of the two prints?
---Becky

How do y,oh do that with an Easypress. I tried and almost no ink transferred. I had to press each part about 6 times and it still wasn’t completely covered.
Since the image is overlapped, I was worried the image would come through if not overlapped exactly. Will it do that or no? Hope that makes sense.
---Becky
what is the material of the doormat? Thank you
It is a Polyester material. You can find Sublimation doormat blanks here - www.jpplus.com/sublimation-door-mat-with-border
What were the temperature and time?
It came out gr8!
Thank you! I appreciate your kind words! ---Becky
Where can one buy the door mat?????
You can find them on Amazon! -Brittany
Omg... I love it.... I am a newbie... 😊
---Becky
Do you seal the mat with anything once complete?
Hey Shonda! I do not personally seal these with anything, but I have heard of some crafters using a UV spray to help them last longer in the sunlight. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Love it ,looks so professional
I love your shirt, how did you make it?
Hey Carla, luckily we have a video on that. I'll link it down below for you. Hope this helps! ---Becky

Is there a website for the silhouette studio software?💕
Yes, you can find it on Silhouette America website! - Brittany
Good video thanks
Hi what size cricut heat press did you use for the doormat
Hey Wally! I used the 12" x 10" EasyPress, but any size should work. ---Becky
Hello can you please tell me what and why you use the offset?
Hey Karren, I used the offset just to add a little separation between the text and the design, it keeps them from running together. Hope this helps! ---Becky
How do you not get the overlapping lines? I have been trying to sublimate garden flags and no matter what I do, I always have overlapping lines on my designs. Please help😩
Are the lines going through the designs and visible when printed? If so this is called branding and you will want to clean your printer heads.
What printer are you using to print on 11x17 paper?
Hey Christina, I use both an Epson WF-7710 and an ET-15000, both will print wide format paper. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Where did you get the mat from?
Hi there! The doormat is from Home Depot!
Love it!
What size mat is this?
Can I use regular tape to piece an oversized design? I pressed a sublimation garden blank & my tape lines showed through on my flag. Taped the back side of design with Cricut heat tape. Also taped design to blank & these lines didn't show through.
Hi Marie! Did the pieces overlap? Was the tap directly touching the flag?
Yes the pieces overlapped & the only place the taped was on the flag was where I secured the design in a few places & there was no tape transfer there. You can see where I pieced the image together. This was taped on the back of the design, not touching the flag.
Thank you for responding to my question.
Did you print this with an inkjet or laserprinter? Does it matter?
Hey Terredee! This is printed using Sublimation paper and Sublimation ink. I'm afraid that a laser or inkjet wouldn't work for this particular project. You can use inkjet printable vinyl or iron on sheets though, just not on a door mat like this one. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Subscribed with bell notification just in case lol
Paper u used?
Hey Donna! I typically use A-Sub paper from Amazon. Thanks for watching! ---Becky
What printer u use????
Hey Donna! I use an Epson WF-7710. Hope this helps! ---Becky
what size paper did you use in printer?

First time trying my rug melted on my heat press. Rug was 100% polyester. Guess I’m going shopping at home deport tomorrow after I clean my heat press.
I am shopping for an Epson printer to convert. What printer do you use?
Hey Kelly! I use an Epson WF-7710. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hi Kelly, did you find the Epson 7710 anywhere?
@@Sunshinebky I ended up getting a Epson ET1500.
When using my Cricut Easy Press on large designs, it leaves an outline of the press. How do I get rid of the outline or not get it in the first place? What am I doing wrong?
Does the lines not go away after it cools? I have seen lines from the heat but it always seemed to go away as the garment cooled down.
@@DesignBundles Nope :(
😎 Cool
Thanks for watching! 😊
How did you print each separate piece?
Hey Karin! I just moved part of the design off of the page, printed, then moved the design to the other side. You should be able to see the process I use at about the 3:30 mark. Hope this helps! ---Becky
I figured it out!!! Thank you so much for your help!!
What is the name of the programme u use to design ? Thank you
Hey Cristal! This was designed in Silhouette Studio. Thanks for watching! ---Becky
What program are you using?
Hey Charles! I print from Silhouette Studio. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Can I use an iron instead?
Unfortunately not. You'll need more even heating. Also, an iron usually has the steam holes in the bottom, which means there won't be pressure and heat in those spots. Sorry I don't have better news. ---Becky
What kind of mat is this?
Hi Denise! It was a seasonal mat from Home Depot!
@@DesignBundles I am in Alberta, Canada. We do not have that same mat here. I just need to know what material I need for the mat.
