I am new to sublimation and I picked up one of my cotton shirts by accident and sublimated on it. Well of course it looked very light and I knew as soon as I put it in the wash it was going to fade even more. So I printed out the same image on parchment paper and used the powder and put the printed parchment paper over the sublimated design already on the shirt and was able to see through the parchment paper to line it up perfectly and bam, it worked great so I didn't ruin the shirt. Love your videos

OMG I figured it out in 2015, except used the wood instead. Never use any powder or heat press. Used my credit card to rub on like repeatedly. It looks so awesome!! Learned a lesson was that after printed an image then I walked across the hallway, it dried the printed sheet. So I had to print for second time, brought my wood sign with me, just next to the printer. Once printed, then put it on wood, rubbed like medium, not too rough. BOOOOM!! Big black, adorable mustache!!😊😊😊
I have been seeing lots of issues with this on the Epson I seen a video the other day of someone that converted an epson to DTF ink and they cut a board down to size to lay at the opening of the printer so when the paper comes out it stays flat.
Greetings, I'm doing it for the first time, after printing the image and placing the powder, how long do I have to cure it before applying it to the shirt, thanks, excellent tutorial
Yes just keep in mind the color will wash out but the black will not so stick to all black designs or if it color apply it to items that don't get washed like a hat, pillow or a tote bag etc
after watching so many videos this one made me proud ...... only problem is my design came out grainy and it felt more plastic then soft. any suggestions on what I may have done wrong ? Thank you for posting this video and many more
Question: You didn't cure the powder before pressing - does that mean you don't have to on the dtf film as well? I guess I'm wondering when to cure and when not to cure 🙂
You don't have to cure on both parchment and film but you have to make sure you place it where it needs to go and don't shift it as the powder is loose. if you want to save them for later you can cure them
CrystalAnn. I have done 5 DTF with the dtf film and powder. I have the sawgrass 1000. I am setting the powder on an electric griddle for 1 minute. I then press medium pressure onto white iron on at 300 for 20 seconds. My issue is I don’t get clean borders of my images. They look fuzzy and frayed. Like. Crayon melted instead of a sharp image like yours. Any suggestions?
Two questions. 1. The DTF a powder you linked in this post says it’s for dark colored shirts. Does that really matter, or is it usable on light colors as well? 2. What’s the difference in printing on parchment paper vs regular copy paper? If regular copy paper works as good, wouldn’t it be the cheaper option? Thanks! I’m genuinely curious of this.
The DTF powder is for light and medium colors not sure why it says that lol as for the parchment paper its cheaper and has a better release you can't use paper because the powder would melt to it
The room needs to be well ventilated. I cure mine outside in the garage with the door open and I wear a mask. I don't want to take any chances inhaling the fumes.
@@YouCanTotallyMakeThat That's wonderful! Thank you. I haven't tried any dtf yet. How does it feel on the shirt? Like a rubbery transfer or vinyl or is it nice like a dtg or screen print? Thanks again!
Question! So since we’re using sub.. we can’t “print” white ink, so if we print one that has white will it just be blank like usual or do we need to avoid white? I’m super excited to try this!

So... This is kind of amazing. Do you mind if I ask a few questions? 1. This will work with any sublimation printer, correct? The Sawgrass SG500 | SG1000 print heads are similar to an inkjet and other sublimation printers. 2. Is there a reason for not curing the print? I've read your comments and you say the print hold up well to washing, and you have washed that hoodie several time for your daughter. Could you please make a video showing the washed hoodie? Thank you for your reply in advance.
Thank you and questions are always welcome! 1. that is correct each printer is different so you may have to change up how you print for example some people are saying they print direct to the parchment with out having to tape it to paper. 2. Since it's a hack you don't need to cure it. curing melts the powder to allow you to store or ship them. Yes you can still cure with the parchment paper as it's made for high heat. 3. I will get the shirt from my daughter and do an updated short video. Hope this helps
@@YouCanTotallyMakeThat Thanks for replying. Interesting, I thought the hack was using the parchment paper.
