Hi! This is the first Cricut tutorial video I’ve ever watched that doesn’t overwhelm me! In fact, I bought a Cricut and returned it because the software and tutorials were so confusing to me. I just re-purchased a Cricut and was so happy to find your account right after. Thank you! Newly subscribed. :-)
Just found you. I've watched countless tutorials for numerous projects since buying my Cricut and I've got to say, your videos are so well done! Thank you for explaining like I'm five from design to apply and also not talking my ear off about stuff that doesn't have to do with your video lol!
I've used press n seal forever. I make cards and it helps when doing small and tiny letters. I'm going to try this I think. Of course this is almost the end of 2022 and I can't find cheap door mats now but will look. I'm a newbie and love your videos.
i want to THANK YOU for the great tutorial. I made my 1st door mat today and was a success. No bleed just perfect. The longest part of the process for my project was the blow dryer piece and making sure that the vinyl stuck to the mat. When I removed the stencil and the inner pieces my eyes were so full of joy. I decided to keep both paint brushes and put them in their own zip lock baggie and then put the both of them in a large zip lock bag. Again THANK YOU does not seem enough. You just earned a subscriber.
I learned everything...since I'm so new to the cricut world. Got my cricut maker in December & I'm loving it. Love your demeanor of your videos. Very well explained & lovely personality.
Yes! Press N seal is PERFECT also for round or oval Christmas ornaments. NO slicing anything to lay vinyl. It lays BEAUTIFULLY. Flex seal is the BEST I believe NO sealing when done.
Love the video! I just subscribed. In the 80s we were taught to write the ‘ after the s. For ex: Williams’ . I saw that when I looked it up. But, that’s great, because I will ask people how they prefer it before I do it the old way.
Glad I came across your video. Press N Seal is what I just learned. I struggled with transfer tape, freezer paper and other methods out there. I will definitely give this a try. Thank you for this tutorial.
I want to make a doormat & wondering if the paint you recommend can be bought in smaller sizes? Afraid to buy a gallon In case I’m not able to get it right.
Thank you sooo much! My daughter in law is wanting me to make one of these so this was amazingly simple (or at least you make it seem easier than I thought!) And you are cute as a button! Thanks again!! Wish me luck!
Thanks so much Amy - I'm learning to use my cricut from your other videos as well. Any suggestions on pricing on door mats? I do know they vary in size/cost of materials, just trying to get and idea on pricing. Thanks so much for all you do! Blessings to you and yours.
Just found your video and love your methods. I became a subscriber!! I'm trying to make a sign out of old rough barnwood but thought that since a doormat isn't at all smooth, this may be a good method to try.
hi, thanks for such a cool video, a question about it. How about cleaning the mat after painting and drying? You have to clean a doormat like that often, did you test it out to see if the color held up?
Hi! I just bought my first Cricut and I'm in love with this idea! I clicked on the paint you used and it says it's no longer available. Will you, please, tell me if this is latex paint or I should say will you, please tell me all your well know secrets. I can't wait to try this! I'm very excited!
Hi there. I don't do doormats but I make soap. I love your stuff. I was hoping you could share more information about your scale and labels. I have no idea how to go about shipping and sending but I want to start an e-business. Thank you.
Hi Amy! Your videos are extremely helpful. I find myself binge watching them quite often lol quick question: Do you attempt to clean the flex seal off of the paint brushes afterwards? Or do you just trash them and use a new one each time?
Happy I can help! I bought the pack of paint brushes in bulk I believe I linked in the video description - so I just throw ‘‘em out after. I tried using this stuff to remove the gunk off but it just got too messy and wasted a lot of time lol
What is this you clicking to bring you words to front of ur brown square ? Or what is that called ? I can NEVER catch this setting name or fond it on my hp. Ty so much 💓💗💖💛💕❤
Hi Laura! Thanks for watching!! So I've made several doormats before with JUST Flex Seal, however it doesn't come out as "sharp" and it's more like a charcoal color instead of a dark black. I prefer dark, clean crisp lines so I always stuck with paint + flex seal :)
In the UK adding ‘es’ to every word that ends with ‘s’ is not always correct grammar. For bus it would be but for others like someone’s name is not correct. It’s not a catch all for both common and proper names. Both James' and James's are grammatically correct for plural names ending in s. Jameses would be incorrect. In the UK anyway. Note the apostrophe in both examples. That being said the customer’s may have not liked that anyway. If you go online or know a secretary, they will also confirm.
So ironic, my last name is Flowers and I was just contemplating adding the word "Family" afterwards cause the correct spelling just looks so weird to me. Thank you for being grammatically correct though! 😂 These are super cute!
hi! you can watch this tutorial on how to import fonts into Cricut Design Space - ruclips.net/video/KfwES9dyjPg/видео.htmlsi=hiqfAuShlTnfykgC The Silver South font is not free since it can be used for commercial use and comes with a license! Hope this all helps
Hi there, great video! Do your customers ever complain about the shedding of the Coir Doormats. I bought one fro Walmart last week to personalize and it shedded sooo much when I brought it into the house. The next day I decided to take it outside to shake it and started splitting in half. 🤦🏽♀️ Will return or exchange it tomorrow. Other crafters have mentioned the shedding also. Have you had that problem?
Hey Beverly! When I first get the doormats I usually give them a good shake before painting in case there are any "extra" coir fibers. Haven't heard of doormats shedding THAT much though 🤔 might be best to seal the entire doormat with some spray so it stays in tact?
That is pretty cool, love the video. Quick question, have you tried using plasti dip and then adding plasti dip clear over to seal. It is a spray form i use it alot for car or motorcycle projects it is rubberized paint.
I’m in Florida I was wondering for when you add color to mat , did you ever try spray painting and did it last or have you alway just used a permanent arycrlic paint and just did I few lays and sealed it ?
hello! I actually have tried it once and failed miserably lol! but some people swear by it and love it -- I definitely recommend my method, but to each their own!
Amy, I have been trying to do this today and have gotten very frustrated. My vinyl has been sticking to the transfer tape, but won’t stick to the rug. I plan to try the press and seal next, but is the StarCraft vinyl stickier? Daft
Definitely try the Glad Press N Seal! I find that transfer tape is much stickier and requires more effort/time to get the vinyl adhered to the coir mat. Hope this helps!
Absolutely love your vides - life changing. I can't find the link to the Permanent Vinyl from 143 that you said you use! I know you said it's in the description below but I don't think it is or I'm blind haha. I've tried using Cricut Stencil Vinyl but that has failed me so much. Is the Starcraft permanent vinyl stickier than stencil vinyl ? TYSM!!!
I prefer the permanent vinyl from Starcraft because it's better quality! If you go to the video description, scroll down until you see "PRODUCTS USED" and it's the 2nd item :) hope this helps!!
Hi Amy! Do you think you can do a video on how to calculate shipping? Etsy also banned me so now I'm using shopify and i have no clue how to set up shipping for my doormats
Please help me understand the flex seal and spray sealant part. I've never made a door mat before but after watching your video, I'm feeling a little less scared and want to give it a go. But your video didn't really explain the spray sealant and flex seal. What do I do with those?
Hi Melissa! I do not use spray flex seal - I use the liquid! It’s used the same way after painting with acrylic paint, which is demonstrated in the video. Hope this helps!
Your videos are always well explained! I have a question: can you use normal cling film? do you think it will be an issue if surname is split too as I do not have a long mat..?
Hi Sonika, please skip to 2:00 in the video -- I mention that these are fonts I've previously downloaded from another website that are commercial use, so no need to add any watermarks or disclaimers :)
@amymakesthat thank you 🙏🏽for sharing your experience ! Also did you ever have a super hard time cleaning the brushes bc of the flex seal , I’m having to throw them away every single time 😭 Is there a brush you recommend ? Or a cleaning solution ?
hi Dianna! I've attempted to use spray Flex Seal and it just doesn't do the job as well as the liquid in my opinion! I found that it makes the design bleed a little and you don't get as crisp lines.
I personally used flex seal spray and the lines are not as crisp -- while others swear by it. I would do trial & error with spray and the liquid and see which one you prefer!
Hi Amy! Love this video! You mentioned that the Rustoleum paint you showed wasn’t your normal “go to” and you would list your preferred paint in the comments. I don’t see it. Would love to try to make one of these ☺️
I really love your videos. The main reason is that you just don't tell us what you're doing, you tell us WHY you are doing things the way you do. Especially when you are using a different product than other Crafters use, like why you use Press and Seal. I learned that painting and then adding Flex Seal gives your design a darker color and great lines. One question. I don't think I would be as patient with them as you are. But maybe that's because I am from NYC!! 😁
Hi Ivy! Any fonts mentioned are usually linked in the video description, if not, I made a video on the best commercial use fonts and link ALL of the fonts mentioned in that video and where I buy/download from! Silver South is from one of those websites -- you can also Google the font & the website should pop up with the font :)
hi samantha! I have tried spray paint once and failed miserably, but other people swear by it! I always say try it and stick with what works best for you!! :)
Hi Amy, love your videos!! How long do you wait before adding a second layer of oil based paint? (If waiting at all 😉). Thanks! Looking forward to more of your videos in the future.
hi there! I don't wait 🙃not sure if that's bad lol but I do it all very quick so I can remove the vinyl stencil while the paint is still wet! thank you for your kind words & am so happy I can help!!

Very interesting, we are trying to build our buisness, this gives me more ideas.
Just found you and you are hands down THE most helpful person on the cricut side of RUclips 💗💗
Aw thank you so much!! I love helping other crafters & glad you found me! ❤
Wow, how simple and beautiful. Thank you for this.
How long does it take to dry?
Thanks for sharing, I have never made a mat and now I can add this to my inventory.
I just found you, i saw ur tik tok mentioning cricut doormats and searched a how to to find you! Thanks for sharing this information!
wowow I love that! Thank you for watching & finding me
Your videos are the best, thanks so much for sharing all this information.
Glad I came across your video. Press N Seal is what I just learned. I struggled with transfer tape, freezer paper and other methods out there. I will definitely give this a try. Thank you for this tutorial.
it is a HUGE difference!! I 1000% stan Press N Seal. Thank you for watching!! :)
It worked!!! Thanks so much.
I want to make a doormat & wondering if the paint you recommend can be bought in smaller sizes? Afraid to buy a gallon In case I’m not able to get it right.
I really enjoy your video's, you explain your projects very well & your fast too! I can't wait to try this!
I really like the way you do this. I can't wait to try this.
Great tutorial, I appreciate how quick and simple your video's are and the fact that you don't ramble on and on you get right to it.
Thank you! It was one of my pet peeves when I first started out and I know what the people want 😎
Thank you sooo much! My daughter in law is wanting me to make one of these so this was amazingly simple (or at least you make it seem easier than I thought!) And you are cute as a button! Thanks again!! Wish me luck!
you got this!! good luck
Thanks so much Amy - I'm learning to use my cricut from your other videos as well. Any suggestions on pricing on door mats? I do know they vary in size/cost of materials, just trying to get and idea on pricing. Thanks so much for all you do! Blessings to you and yours.
Thank you soo much for the generous sharing of all of your process. You are amazing.
I'm happy to share & help!!
Just found your video and love your methods. I became a subscriber!! I'm trying to make a sign out of old rough barnwood but thought that since a doormat isn't at all smooth, this may be a good method to try.
Aw thank you so much for subscribing!!
Thank you for all the video’s. Your awesome!
Where do you order your mats from? Looking for a website to order whole sale!
Hi Amy. Where do you buy your doormats in bulk? I love all you videos. You explain them very well. Love from Toronto
Thank you for doing such great videos! I just received a Cricut Maker for Christmas and excited to try the projects in your videos.
Thank you SO much for watching as always! Tell me what you learned from today's video below :)
Have you ever tried Rust-Oleum spray paint for mats? I'm thinking it will probably bleed under the vinyl but curious if you've tried it.
Great video, thank you for all detaila. Will try it out :)
Absolutely love your videos!!! Thank you!
hi, thanks for such a cool video, a question about it. How about cleaning the mat after painting and drying?
You have to clean a doormat like that often, did you test it out to see if the color held up?
wait so u put the press n seal on the sticky side or the non sticky side of the vinyl
The sticky side so it sticks to the vinyl!
is it recommended to use spray paint?
Loved your video, learned a lot! Can you recommend colored paints adn sealants for thos?
Hi! I just bought my first Cricut and I'm in love with this idea! I clicked on the paint you used and it says it's no longer available. Will you, please, tell me if this is latex paint or I should say will you, please tell me all your well know secrets. I can't wait to try this! I'm very excited!
You can find the same paints at your local Home Depot
Hi there. I don't do doormats but I make soap. I love your stuff. I was hoping you could share more information about your scale and labels. I have no idea how to go about shipping and sending but I want to start an e-business. Thank you.

hi, I bought the flex seal but in spray, my question to you is do I wait til the paint is dry or I can apply while its wet
Hi Amy! Thanks so much for your video!! Is there a reason you use the black paint and then the liquid flex seal and not the flex seal alone? xx
Hi Laura! Thanks for watching!! So I've made several doormats before with JUST Flex Seal, however it doesn't come out as "sharp" and it's more like a charcoal color instead of a dark black. I prefer dark, clean crisp lines so I always stuck with paint + flex seal :)

It is the same in the USA. Proper Names are exempt from the es grammar rule.
Ok so I'm new to the Cricut thing. And always said that I wanted to do mats. I followed you on one. I'm having trouble with the sizing. Please help
Just joined here today … Good Job !!! Looks fantastic!!
Welcome! And thank you 🙏🏼
Good deal
So ironic, my last name is Flowers and I was just contemplating adding the word "Family" afterwards cause the correct spelling just looks so weird to me. Thank you for being grammatically correct though! 😂 These are super cute!
So I've downloaded the averia font. Can u tell me how to get it design space. And is the Silver South font free?

Sure can! Try it out 😎
Thank you so much for a great tutorial! It is exactly what I’ve been searching for! So glad I found your channel!!
yay!! glad you came across my video. xoxo
That is pretty cool, love the video. Quick question, have you tried using plasti dip and then adding plasti dip clear over to seal. It is a spray form i use it alot for car or motorcycle projects it is rubberized paint.
I’m in Florida I was wondering for when you add color to mat , did you ever try spray painting and did it last or have you alway just used a permanent arycrlic paint and just did I few lays and sealed it ?
latex paint is the way to go with colors! it will last longer than acrylic paint :) sealing it will help too!
What kind of heat press is that ? I need one an I’m just not sure which one to get.
Hi! You’ve listed three different types of paint for the doormats, but which is best?? Paint or flex seal? I’m confused.
If you watched the video you’d see that I use both! :)
Hi! Can I do this in the Explorer?
Yes you can! Used to make doormats all the time with my Explore Air 2
Great video
Neat method. Have you ever used the freezer paper method and if so do you prefer this method instead?

Is the vinyl that you are using just a regular vinyl?
it's permanent! the link is in the video description :)
Just wondering why you chose a brush on paint instead of a spray on paint ??? Sorry if this question has already been asked.
Do you have a video dedicated to more shipping detail? It’s always my achilles’ heel. 😖 Love your videos 👏🏻
Absolutely love your vides - life changing. I can't find the link to the Permanent Vinyl from 143 that you said you use! Do you let the paint dry before applying the flex seal?
Hi Sarah, nope I don't! I apply it immediately once I finish the second/third coat of paint as a "finishing" coat!
Hi Amy! Do you think you can do a video on how to calculate shipping? Etsy also banned me so now I'm using shopify and i have no clue how to set up shipping for my doormats
Couldn't u got to the post office or ups and bring ur product and get an estimate of how much it would cost with packaging ?
What paint do you use for color doormats ?
Hi please could you tell me what paint you used and what one you usually use instead 😊
I've found in your links sorry 😉
How do you cut out a larger than your mat design? I'm trying to slice my design in 1/4 to cut
Hi Theresa, this is explained at 3:33 in the video. You will have to keep slicing your design into parts!
@Amy Makes That thank you! 🙏
Can you please tell me where you were able to find a wholesaler for coir mats🥺🙌🏾
Your videos are always well explained! I have a question: can you use normal cling film? do you think it will be an issue if surname is split too as I do not have a long mat..?
If you dont mind me asking, Where do you buy your mats wholesale?
Links are in the video description :)
USE THE SEAL SPRAY PAINT ITS QUICKER.✌🏽
Thanks 🙏🏽 great video
How thick are the doormats that you use? Love this tutorial
Honestly I’m not sure! I linked the doormats in the video description and they may include the thickness there!
I'd be inetrested to know how you print the shipping labels
Hi, since you use cricut to make it, is the font from cricut? Do you add the cricut copyright anywhere?
Hi Sonika, please skip to 2:00 in the video -- I mention that these are fonts I've previously downloaded from another website that are commercial use, so no need to add any watermarks or disclaimers :)
Do you think the spray flex seal would be better I really like the way you did this
it didn't work for me :( i get crisper, cleaner lines with liquid paint!
Wow! Thank you so much for this video! Such great tips!
Thank you so much
@amymakesthat if i was using red paint , do you recommend i find a red flex seal or a red spray sealent?
if there is a red flex seal, totally buy that! If not, get red latex/oil based paint & use a clear spray sealant! That will do the job 🥰
@amymakesthat thank you 🙏🏽for sharing your experience ! Also did you ever have a super hard time cleaning the brushes bc of the flex seal , I’m having to throw them away every single time 😭
Is there a brush you recommend ? Or a cleaning solution ?
Hi Amy...I really enjoyed this video! Can you tell me if the Starcraft vinyl you used is permanent or HTV? Thank so much 😃
It’s linked in the video description!!
Where did you find doormats in bulk? I do not see it linked. Target and Home Depot do not offer bulk pricing. Thanks so much!
That’s where I purchased them! I used to buy them in bulk at HD with no problems :)
@@AmyMakesThat oh wow! Thanks so much for the tip!
First, thank you so much for your videos! I was wondering if you would ever use the spray version of the Flex Seal, instead of painting it on?!
hi Dianna! I've attempted to use spray Flex Seal and it just doesn't do the job as well as the liquid in my opinion! I found that it makes the design bleed a little and you don't get as crisp lines.
Would you be able to use flexseal spray only
I personally used flex seal spray and the lines are not as crisp -- while others swear by it. I would do trial & error with spray and the liquid and see which one you prefer!
Hi Amy! Love this video! You mentioned that the Rustoleum paint you showed wasn’t your normal “go to” and you would list your preferred paint in the comments. I don’t see it. Would love to try to make one of these ☺️
Hi Amy! All of my products are linked in the video description!! I labeled which one is my “go to” 🥰
Can I use the spray flex seal ?
Hi! Where do you get your doormats in bulk?
The links are in the video description! Usually from Home Depot, if not Target!
@@AmyMakesThat you said that you get them from a wholesale vendor.. what is that vendor? I'm having a hard time finding in bulk!
What kind of paper you use?
Hi Diamond! I use permanent vinyl for the stencil -- all the products I use are linked in the video description
I see your go to paint product, but why is flex seal listed in your products?
I really love your videos. The main reason is that you just don't tell us what you're doing, you tell us WHY you are doing things the way you do. Especially when you are using a different product than other Crafters use, like why you use Press and Seal. I don't think I would be as patient with them as you are. But maybe that's because I am from NYC!! 😁
What do you do if the paint bleeds?
I have a secret hack for this 😎 May post a quick short video on it if more people are interested!
I can’t find silver south on dafonts??
Hi ashleigh! Silver South is not from dafont - it is a commercial use font that I purchased from a website!
Can you share with me how I can find and purchase it?
I just added the link to the video description under “fonts used” 💕
Do you ask the client what font they want!?
yes I gave them a selection of options!
Where can we buy one of your doormats?
West Coast
I was wondering where you got ur fonts? Silver south script specifically?
Hi Ivy! Any fonts mentioned are usually linked in the video description, if not, I made a video on the best commercial use fonts and link ALL of the fonts mentioned in that video and where I buy/download from! Silver South is from one of those websites -- you can also Google the font & the website should pop up with the font :)
Would spray paint work aswell??
hi samantha!
