@Richard Duke Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and im in the hacking process atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
Thanks for the tutorial! Ive been reading a lot about using laminating sheets to sublimate on wood and canvas but wasn't exactly sure how to go about it so this helps a lot!
This technique worked so slick!!! I was doing a memorial picture frame and used this technique on the wood frame. It worked great!!! Thanks for the great ideas!!!
This is a great idea Kathleen! I think the paint would work, but I actually wonder if it would release moisture and cause the laminate sheet to bubble. Definitely something to add to the "to try" list! Hope this helps! ---Becky
Becky, thank you for the terrific video. I will be trying this as soon as I finish writing this comment. I always look for your videos whenever I want to learn something. Your share the techniques in such a clear manner and make it fun. Please keep making videos!
OMG...i did my first ever sublimate using the Cricut infusible ink paper and it came out really nice. i did it on some small round wood discs in similar thickness of this project. thanks so much for this video.
Great video!! My husband built a sauna this summer & we wanted to make some signs to with sauna sayings. I just got my printer this week & can't wait to try this!!
This project looks amazing! I can’t wait to try it. I bought some KILZ general purpose paint to get the white background and I’m excited to get started! Thank you for sharing 😊
Hey Dana, I don't know about glass but I did try it on clear acrylic and it looked... strange. I've also read that if you try it on tile, it peels off very easy, so it would probably be the same for glass. Hope this helps! ---Becky
@@DesignBundles Hi Becky...thank you for replying. Also wanted to thank you for all your tutorials. You’re always fun to watch and I’ve learned so much from you.
Hi, I do glass pictures with laminate. So yes you can. But it leaves it see through. So if you are putting it in a frame use a white sheet of paper behind it. Or you can use white permanent vinyl
I'm not 100% sure Carla, but I think it would be worth a try! I hear about people pressing HTV onto painted wood, but I'm not sure if the higher temperature would cause issues, or if any moisture from the paint would cause bubbles in the laminate. Definitely test a small piece first, but let me know how it turns out if you think of it! Thanks for sharing your idea! ---Becky
Always love your videos! Thanks for sharing all the Sublimation projects. I love seeing them all! Loved seeing the wood project. I enjoy seeing all the ideas you have of what you can use sublimation on. Thanks!!
Hi Marie! We have a few tutorials with painted wood, but not in this sublimation video! We can always add that to our list of ideas for future tutorials.
Just want to say that the laminating sheets are made of polyester which is what you want for sublimation. I don't believe you stated WHY to use the laminating sheets for sublimation. Works like a charm. Thanks for the video.
Great idea using wood!! Thank you for the tutorial. You always make my mind work overtime when I watch your videos. So many ideas going through my head. ❣❣❣
Hi!! Thank you for the tutorial. I’ve tried several different temps and presses using different pressures, and no matter what, I get bubbles/wrinkles in the laminate. Any tips for preventing this?
Hey Staphany! I personally have not, but this method should work for the wood. I know of a company that sells sublimation acrylic and can cut clipboard shapes, but I'm not sure about sublimating acrylic that large because the heat makes it so flexible. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Great question and I'm just not sure. I actually think the heat to laser through the wood would cause the laminate to shrink away from the edges, and I'm not completely sure if laminate can be safely cut with a laser. I think I would consult an expert to make sure it is safe. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Might be a strange question.....my father is a guide and I was wondering if I can sublimate a picture on a moose hip bone for him? I have boiled the bone down. It is white now. Could I do it as is or should I use polyacrylic or laminate sheets to stick it to? Or is it just not going to work?
When doing sublimation, you need a sublimation printer such as an Eco. You also need sublimation ink and sublimation paper. You can’t use regular inject ink or printer paper.
Becky...fresh new idea! Now I need to get my Christmas gift ( Sawgrass 500) out, set-up and make some great projects you shared! IS DESIGN BUDDLE YOUR BUSINESS ?
Hey Rebecca! Yes, definitely get that printer out of the box, you won't regret it for a second! I sure wish I could take credit for the Design Bundles awesomeness but no, there is an entire team that works around the clock to bring all the different facets together. I am just one cog in a lonnnnng line of wheels! But I am grateful every single day that they allow me to be part of the team, they really are that fantastic! ---Becky

You can paint the wood white prior to adding the laminate/design - works great and its more vibrant!
Hi, Brandi.
I was wondering if you can recommend a type of paint, acrylic or ?
Thanks!
@@jodealode I used white high heat spray paint. The kind you use for painting fireplaces and grills. You can find this at Lowes or Home Depot.
You can get laminate to stick to tile by taking 280 or 300 grit sandpaper and scuffing the surface of the tile first.
Thank you!! Of all the videos I have watched you are the first to say the laminate shrinks. I thought I was doing something wrong.
Perfect!!! Easy directions
I do this often. I’ve never had any problems laminating to ceramic tiles. They come out awesome.
Thanks for the tutorial! Ive been reading a lot about using laminating sheets to sublimate on wood and canvas but wasn't exactly sure how to go about it so this helps a lot!
Love this will try for sure
love this and i was about to give up on sublimating until i watched this and my creativity is on fire rite now thanks so much and i subscribed :)
What i do to get a softer edge is go around the laminate with the hot iron and it will shrink to size!
This technique worked so slick!!! I was doing a memorial picture frame and used this technique on the wood frame. It worked great!!! Thanks for the great ideas!!!
You're very welcome! We'd love to see if you wanted to share in our Facebook group? 😃
Awesome thank you
Terrific ❤
If you use parchment paper under the laminate then it won't stick or fuse. Great video. You are very through. love it!
Great idea!! - Brittany
I can't wait to try this
We cannot wait to see them!
Love this project and now my imagination is on overdrive
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching! 😊
very good instructor
I wonder if you painted the wood white first, then laminate if that would work to have brighter colors...just a thought. Great project!!
Right.. I was just wondering if that would work!
I wondered too
I think it would. But I would recommend using some high heat spray paint from an auto parts store. (since it’s going to be under a heat press).
This is a great idea Kathleen! I think the paint would work, but I actually wonder if it would release moisture and cause the laminate sheet to bubble. Definitely something to add to the "to try" list! Hope this helps! ---Becky
Can this process go on a painted wood work.
You are my current art crush! Your saving my tush!

Can I use direct to film transfer paper?
Nice so too have a white background I could gesso the wood then laminate after it dries that would work!
Can you paint it white then you the laminate?
This is very interesting. I have never heard about it before. But I will try it. I will give it a try. It sounds very interesting.
Like your videos you explain every step
Glad to hear this video was helpful! - Brittany

fantastic project, thanks for sharing am about to order my SG500 and will definitely be incorporating this idea..... thanks becky. Tony UK
Glad it was helpful!
So helpful thank you
Thank you!
Great tutorial.
I paint mine but not the underneath as it will bubble because the heat will go through the wood! Paint the underside later when cold 😊
very nice. please tell how much thick is the laminating sheet one should take to get the good result. Thanks
WOW! What's next? Great project, Thanks Becky
Hey!! So, I tried this but my laminate had bubbles in it. Does that mean not hot enough? Not enough pressure?
Thank you in advance!❤️
It sounds like it may have been pressed too long. What was your time and temperature?
Awesome technique ma'am.. Love it
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the video 😊

yes

So good. Video thank you
Thank you for watching! Glad it was helpful! 😊
If the wood is larger than laminate do you overlap laminate so seam doesn’t show
Beautiful!! Love it..like the explanation 👌
That is so cool! I have a ton of laminating sheets so I’m going to try some this week! Do you think you could do it on painted wood?

Can you use same method with those arabesque title
Great project....glad I found your videos!!!
Hi can you paint the wood with acrylic paint then add the laminate?
Great tutorial! Will this work on pine wood?
Love this!! Thank you for all these sublimation ideas!!
Love your videos. You are awesome. So informative, so easy to listen too. You make it look so easy and perfect. My goal is to be like you. LOL
Glad it was helpful, thank you for watching! 😊
Thank you so much for this awesome video. So looking forward to doing this on wood.
Can you overlap laminate to do things that are larger than the laminate sheet?
Have you tried paint the wood white to get more vibrant colors?
Hi Marie! We have a few tutorials with painted wood, but not in this sublimation video! We can always add that to our list of ideas for future tutorials.
Becky! Love this thanks again for teaching me more cool ways to use sublimation! Xo
Can you do sublimation over epoxy?
all those wood references was killing me. 🤣😂 but good tutorial I learnt a lot.
So glad you learned a lot!
My laminate sheet has bubbles in it after pressing? Wondering if my wood isn't dry enough??? It is 6x1 pine from Lowes. Is there a way to dry it?
How long and how hot did you press?
hi becky.. when sublimating onto Thermal Laminate which print setting material would you choose in CreativeStudio? regards tony
Can you heat-press the laminating layer and the printed sublimation design all in one press? Thanks. Very easily understood and helpful video.
Hi there! The layers have to be done separately so that the wording isn't applied to the laminating layer carrier sheet (if that make sense!)
Hi, Can you use polyvine instead of polycrylic ?
Another great project. Thank you.
Just want to say that the laminating sheets are made of polyester which is what you want for sublimation. I don't believe you stated WHY to use the laminating sheets for sublimation. Works like a charm. Thanks for the video.
Thank you for watching!
Have you tried this with cricut unfusible ink, or infusible ink markers/pens?
Do you place the laminating onto the wood with the shiny side up or down?
Hey Karen! When working out which side to print on your sublimation paper, it is important that you print your design onto the bright white side.
great video! i can finally try this out, loved the info.
Great idea using wood!! Thank you for the tutorial. You always make my mind work overtime when I watch your videos. So many ideas going through my head. ❣❣❣
can you paint the wood with white acrylic before you laminate?
Hi Ruthanne! Acrylic paint wouldn't hold up to the heat, but you can try a thicker paint like chalk paint!
Hi!! Thank you for the tutorial. I’ve tried several different temps and presses using different pressures, and no matter what, I get bubbles/wrinkles in the laminate. Any tips for preventing this?
Hi Kandice - The main reason we see for the bubble is too much heat. - Dawn
Hi Becky! Have you ever done sublimation on a wood clipboard or an acrylic clipboard? Thanks!!
Hey Staphany! I personally have not, but this method should work for the wood. I know of a company that sells sublimation acrylic and can cut clipboard shapes, but I'm not sure about sublimating acrylic that large because the heat makes it so flexible. Hope this helps! ---Becky
I have seen people using the smallest heat press or craft iron to melt down the sharp edges when trimming laminate.
Thank you for your suggestion! - Brittany
Hi, love this tutorial! Is there a laminate that does have more of a matte look as opposed to glossy?
Hey Helen! Yes, check out Lamination Depot, they sell laminate by the roll and have matte laminate available. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Thank you so much
I followed along with the video but my sublimation isn’t transferring. What temp and time do I easy press the sublimation?
Could I add the laminate and the design at the same time to save some time?
Hey Melissa, I have not tried that, but I guess it would be worth a shot! Let me know if you decide to try it! ---Becky
I do it with glass. So I wouldn't see why you couldn't
Love this project!!!
Awesome job thank you so much 💓
Happy to help, thanks for watching! 😊
This is awesome!!! Do you think i could sublimate then cut it on the glowforge then sublimate?

I think I would consult an expert to make sure it is safe. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Can you paint the wood white first? thank you!
How long can you wait before adding the design after applying the laminate?
Can I use these sheets on wood that has been stained
Love it
Thanks for watching! 😊
Hello! I love your video! I have a question.. what type of wood do you use?
Love this!!!!
I have heard that if you paint your wood white before you laminate, your colors will be brighter when you sub. I have not tried it yet, but I may.
Might be a strange question.....my father is a guide and I was wondering if I can sublimate a picture on a moose hip bone for him? I have boiled the bone down. It is white now. Could I do it as is or should I use polyacrylic or laminate sheets to stick it to? Or is it just not going to work?
Can you do this on any items?
On items that have a sublimation coating. However nowadays you can buy coating yourself and put it on so many things!
Nice instruction. Question what is the reverse printed image? Made on a ink jet printer?
When doing sublimation, you need a sublimation printer such as an Eco. You also need sublimation ink and sublimation paper. You can’t use regular inject ink or printer paper.
So cool! What paper is the design printed n?
It is sublimation paper. 😊
Love it!
Would I be able to do this method with a mini press?
Hi Lola! You can also use a mini press, just make sure that you are using the same amount of pressure with each movement of the press. - Dawn 🙂
I wonder if you could do stained wood?
I'm not sure but I am going to try a few experiments on painted wood also. ---Becky
@designbundles how did it turn out?
That is cool! Can we try that with wood from Cricut....,Basa, Chip board?
Hey Deborah, it should work on either of those! Hope this helps! ---Becky
I like it
