Angie, I gotta say that you have some great videos. I have learned so much from you. In the last three years, I have gone through 3D pen, resin, Cricut, tumblers, and now I'm into sublimation. When I think of all the money I've spent on this stuff. Wow! Especially the sublimation stuff. But every time I got into something new, I could always find some helpful information on your channel. Thank you for all of your great videos.
This is a great video. I just wanted to let you know that the paper easily comes off once cool with some water and a little rubbing with your finger in both the polycrylic and the painted surface. I have great results with both. I did not have good results with the laminating sheet as it peels right off the wood. :(
@@AngieHolden maybe it's the lamination sheets, what kind of brand are you using? I have the same problem it peels off on unfinished wood and also on canvas
I did sublimation on oak wood seat that had 5 coats of polyurethane on it an it came out beautiful! I used the cricut easy press @ 385 and Sub-A paper & Hiipoo ink. It Worked beautifully!
Excellent video!! I've used all of these techniques and my fav is the white MDF also. I like how vibrant the print comes out on the white. I also use Emory boards to sand the excess laminating sheets around intricate letters. Works great but time consuming. My Dremel works fantastic for sanding also. Thank you for all the great info Angie!! 💐🌹🌸🏵🌼💐🌹🌸🏵🌼
I think I would sublimate onto adhesive vinyl and then cut it to fit, maybe. Okay, never mind painted white MDF (with laminate ) for the win. Yay, thanks so much for experimenting for us. Saved us so much money and time! Great Video!
I have learned so much watching your experimental videos and thank you for all of your hard work and experiments which in return save us time and supplies because you’ve done the hard work for us. You’re like a mad scientist helping us to get the best results thank you for all that you do💕
Thanks for doing the experimenting, i went a bit further and tryed matt laminating sheets and gloss laminating sheets. The matt laminating sheets on painted wood looks amazing.
Angie, I always appreciate your comparisons of different techniques! I have been cutting my laminate with my Cricut Maker, then taping it on the wood. It saves me from trying to trim laminate after application. The white MDF will be my new go to instead of natural wood. Thank you!
Thank you for your videos. Im not sure if you have found this out yet but when the sublimation paper sticks to the wood treated with polyacrilic it is very easy to take off. Just use a damp towel and gently rub off paper. They turn out great!
The two poly hearts can be soaked in water to remove the paper. Also, to make the heart reall 'pop,' paint it white before adding the lamination. Thank you for your videos. You always answer my questions!
Thanks for this video, I really appreciate the info on using Canva. Just FYI, I did a sublimation directly on a bamboo cutting board by sanding off the factory finish and applying a sealant afterward. The ink penetrated nicely. I use an Epson ET-2803, starting from new with Hiipoo ink (They sell it with the correct fittings to fill the ET printer tanks), A-Sub paper and a Vevor 5-in-1 heat press. No surface preparation materials were used.
Hello, on wood I first use White iron -on then a laminating sheets and it gives a great result. Thank you for you videos, always clear and easy to understand. Bonjour, sur le bois j'utilise du vinyle a transfer par chaleur blanc et ensuite une feuille de lamination. Le résultat est superbe. Merci pour tes vidéos, ils sont toujours clairs, facile à comprendre.
Once again excellent clear and concise video. I was going to ask did you try getting the paper of the polycrilic version with water but i notice you have already answered that. Think maybe you should have shown that for completeness
I know this is a late comment. On the polycrylic, you can rub the paper off with a wet sponge like mod podge. So it doesn't have to be a complete loss. You just need to be careful while rubbing not to go thru the ink. Then coat again with polycrylic and it will be vibrant again.
For the wood wood project where the sap was coming through, I wonder if you painted it with one coat. Let it dry, then cover it with protective paper and put the heat press on it for a few seconds, then paint it with a second coat and repeat the process until you don't see the sap coming through. Then add the lamination sheet and continue. I wonder if that would help to cover up those sap marks.
Great video. When u sublimate on wood with poly the paper sticks but if u take water n a sponge n wipe the paper away the transfer stays and looks great. Try it again for yourself n see.
Dear Angie you did all the sublimation ie polyacrylic, lamination process and 2 other product at fixed temperature and time. Should have done all seperate experiment since temperature and time varies for different substrate and process.
I've literally just had an Epson ET2710 printer turn up today which i'm just waiting for a set of sublimation ink to turn up so i can convert the printer into a Sub printer.. I do a lot of small wooden plaques with vinyl on it and wanted to switch over to full colour.. This video has given me so many more ideas.. I love this video! Thank you for the ideas! What if you tried polycrylic on the MDF? Do you think that would work? I just know I'm not great at cutting around substrates with an exacto..........
I like to buy the wood letters and use the acrylic pain from the dollar tree and put two coats on. Then I use the laminate sheets and sub. The colors pop better. I've tried the letters that were already white but they didn't come out right
I loved your video, I did see another influencer with the polyacrylic and after she did it the paper stuck, but she used water to remove the paper. I know it worked when she did it, you may want to see how it turns out if you use water and a sponge to see what the polyacrylic would look.
Hi you did not mention the type of paint, or maybe the white ones were just pre-painted. "Rust-Oleum Do it Best High Heat Enamel" would withstand the heat (it's for BBQ grills) and it comes in white. May be worth trying. So first protect the wood with something that can withstand the temps. The big H is real wood (maybe pine). The little H is plywood (probably birch outer layer). That is another variable. Everything you showed was very helpful. thanks
Thanks for the video. As far as polycrylic goes, just wash off the paper.Another coat of polycrylic will protect the wood for the outdoors. Yes its an extra step, but in my experience, the lamination lifts when exposed to sunshine.
Thank you for a great video! Have you tried cutting the laminating sheet on the Cricut to desired shape before application with the heat? I am curious if it will shrink the heat application
Do you think I could paint a small pine cutting board, then put the laminate sheet over that, then sublimate a hand written recipe on top of that? (Printed on my sub printer and sub paper of course!!) Thanks Angie!!
Hi Angie, love your videos and your voice is amazing. I just wanted to ask what thickness, your laminating pouches are? I've tried this over and over. Followed your instructions to a "T", but they don't stick to the wood properly and peel off with ease. Thank you 😊

Ok so I have to tell you that with the Polycrylic let it cool longer and more but not all the paper will come off; and using a damp sponge or cloth you can gently remove the rest of the paper and the image (on mine) looked very good. Now for this next one I’m just assuming that it will do the same thing because you put polycrylic coating on top of the white paint I’m assuming you could do the same thing with that one too.
Angie this is awesome!!! I will be spelling my granddaughters name which start with a ‘C’, Camila. Hopefully it’ll look as good as yours. Can you tell me where to try and find the Hippo ink icc profile for the Epson 3760 Eco tank printer?
I don't think one exists yet but you can definitely try the one I put up for my printer. It has been working for others with EcoTank printers of other models.
Would like to know can you paint white then laminate then sub on it. Didnt know if the laminate would stick to the paint. What kind of paint did you use to paint it white then sublimation on.
I have a question My laminate isn’t melting on my wood. It’s a slice of a tree trunk. I also painted it white as I going to be using my sublimation printer.
I want to make a fairly large pool sign for our deck, If use a painted mdf wood panel and sublimate it, will it be weather resistant in the summer. I can only print 8.5 x11 on my epson printer. There is a 1/4" and 1/2 " MDF wood panel, also does the paint have to be matte?
The issue with sublimation outdoors is UV light. The light will fade the print quickly. Generally when you purchase a sublimation blank that is made for outdoors, the coating they put on it has some UV resistance. With this method for wood, you won't have any UV resistance. I would try to find a top coat that says it blocks UV light.
I didnt read all the comments In the iitens that paper stuxks to try water . Weather you wipe on it or run it under. Lots of times it comes off & doesnt cause any damage to product & image is fine
I’m only 12 minutes into the video, but I wonder if painting the wood white, and then laminating would work? Also, does it feel like the laminate sheet could peel off the wood easily over time?
I did do the painted/laminated on wood, MDF, etc later on. It did not feel like it would peel off at all. The only thing on the chipboard I pointed out that the layers wanted to separate on me.
If I just want to add black text to wood would I need to do all this? Or is this just for colourful designs? I'm adding tea, coffee, sugar to the wooden lids on canisters
Angie, in addition to watching you, I watch some guy named Roger and when the sublimation paper sticks to your polycrylic coated item, you soak it for a few moments in water and scrub the paper off with a magic eraser. I think his channel is Roger’s shop
The EasyPress should work I would just keep it within the size of the EasyPress you have so you don't have to press twice. I think that would leave a line in the sheet.
It did not peel off at all. Worked like a charm! Not sure what you mean about top edges? I cut them as you saw and I mentioned in the video that you can sand them slightly.

So Angie. Thank you for this video. Are you saying its best to sublimate on white mdf wood that is laminated? PS. We are in the UK we dont get painted MDF. Do you know what paint they have used? Would it to wood paint? Or primer? Thanks again
also, instead of using a knife for those hard-to-get places once you've cut off. Use a piece of sanding paper sand downward and cuts that paper right off & nice too.
Hi Angie - I love all of the videos you put out - you have taught me SO much!! I am having an issue getting the laminating film to adhere to my letters. It is a type of wood.

It does wash off. I did that off camera but I still didn't like it so I just left it off as the lamination was way better.

I use Artesprix protective paper.

Yes.

It is like plywood where there is small pieces of wood compressed into a sheet.

I haven't tried that yet! I have sublimating on adhesive vinyl on my list to test though.
Have you tried Cricuts infusible ink on wood with the same laminate process? I’m thinking for door signs. :)
Yes! It would work the same!
🔥🔥🔥🔥Sooooo helpful!! Thank you so much!
Could you stick white permanent vinyl on the MDF and sublimate on that or would it melt?
I haven't tried permanent vinyl yet. I have been researching on that some before I dive in.
So Angie. Thank you for this video. Are you saying its best to sublimate on white mdf wood that is laminated? PS. We are in the UK we dont get painted MDF. Do you know what paint they have used? Would it to wood paint? Or primer? Thanks again
I bought MDF letters and gave them a few coats of which chalk paint then used the laminate and sublimation method shown.
@@AngieHolden thank you Hun. I will try thay!
also, instead of using a knife for those hard-to-get places once you've cut off. Use a piece of sanding paper sand downward and cuts that paper right off & nice too.
Great tip!
Would regular laminating sheets work ( non heat type) you think?
I would think you would need the heat type to withstand the heat of the sublimation? But I didn't try them!
I use a nail file on the intricate shapes and small shapes. It is faster, is the exact shape and doesn't cut into the wood.
Thanks for this video I have an easy press what settings do I use?
I would try the same settings.
What kind of paint covers the MDF board?
Pretty sure I used a white chalk paint. Any multi surface paint should work.
Can you use the laminating method on glossy ceramic tiles?
Not sure! Sorry!
Thank you for your great video!
Hi Angie - I love all of the videos you put out - you have taught me SO much!! I am having an issue getting the laminating film to adhere to my letters. I am placing it shinny side up and pressing for 15 seconds at 375. It looks like it tries to melt, but does not adhere to my letters - any ideas? Thank you!
Hmmm. Maybe try a bit longer or a different pressure.
I had that issue and it turned out to be the band of laminate, once I switched, no more issues.
@@brendasecoy3376 what brand works best?
@@bethrossignol9746 I would like to know too. Having the same problem
Is it possible to laminate the whole board then sublimte then laser cut?
I don't have a laser cutter so I am not sure.
Hello friend good channel......Can I use a sublimation printer for regular printing ?...............Thank's.......
No you cannot.
@@AngieHolden Thank you friend....YOU are my go to for ALL things PRINT/CRAFTY......Take care....The old cannon will do for that.........Just bought Epson eco tank 15000.
Water base primer on the wood first may help the bleeding of the sap
I have still had some bleed before.
Awesome video!!! Can't wait to try this. Thanks a Million!!!
Enjoy!
I noticed that your printed sublimation prints are larger than the dimensions in cricut design space. What are you using to get the larger size
You don't have to use Cricut to print. Try this: ruclips.net/video/TGalh6abV1w/видео.html
