Thanks for the awesome project. 1 question. Is the picture printed with a sublimation printer on sublimation paper? It couldn't just be done with a normal printer like a laser or inkjet could it? Its probably obvious but i gotta ask. 😅😂
Yes, that is correct. The design is printed on sublimation paper with a sublimation printer. You could print a picture with your regular printer and then Mod Podge over top of it. 😊
polycrylic on wood doesn't work great. It makes the wood darker as the polycrylic soaks into the wood, and the paper sticks to it since it's not a smooth surface, the paper gets pressed down into the grooves.
Hi Bill, thanks for your question and glad that you like it. The picture is printed out on an ink jet printer. Thanks and have fun making this project!
She did not use heat transfer paper in this video, it was sublimation paper and lamination paper. The laminate sheets can be found here: www.amazon.com/Amazon-Basics-Thermal-Laminating-Laminator/dp/B00BWU3HNY/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=Amazon-Basics-Thermal-Laminating-Laminator&qid=1698254850&sr=8-3
do you have to have a sublimation printer? to print my word design or simple design to get ready with my 1st paint party? I have to do 50 designs on canvas?
Hey Lesley! The laminate stays very well on the wood and on canvas! The only surface I've heard that it can peel from is tile. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Great question Cheryl! Bubbles typically mean there is moisture trapped in the wood. To prevent this, you can bake the wood ahead of time to completely dry it out. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Thank you for your question! ❤️ The best thing to do is to make sure you smooth it out before you laminate, to avoid any air getting in! Please feel free to reach out to us at hi@creativefabrica.com if you have any questions and we would be more than happy to help you! ❤️
Hey Nancy! I don't think so, I've used Scotch brand and Amazon brand, both have worked really well for me. What time and temperature are you using? You might also need to dry out your wood in an oven to remove any excess moisture that may bubble up under the laminate. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Absolutely 👍 For more useful tips on how to sublime on different surfaces, feel free to check out our Classes (www.creativefabrica.com/classes/) and The Artistry blog (www.creativefabrica.com/the-artistry/) ✨
Hey Mandy! You sure can use your clamshell since you don't need a ton of pressure, you would just hold the top of your wood up against the plate of your press instead of pulling it down. It's tiring on the arms, but still something you can try. Hope this helps! ---Becky
I found you lol I’ve been looking for you I inquired but got no answers so great to see you still out here doing great things.
Hey LaChelle! Here I am, I'm glad we found each other again! I appreciate you stopping by and look forward to seeing you more! ---Becky
Great project! Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
thank i was wanting to start sublimation on wood to make all kinds of door hangers etc thank you for the video.
You are welcome! 😊
Thank you so much for the video. This will make great Christmas gifts.
You are so welcome! We cannot wait to see all your amazing crafts!
Thank you for the video, always great. What thickness of laminating sheets are you using?
They are the normal sized laminating sheets! 😊
Great video, is very informative, regards from Belgium
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching! 😊

Yes, that is correct. The design is printed on sublimation paper with a sublimation printer.

This is fantastic & so easy . Is there a technique to use on canvas
You can use this same technique on canvas!
@@creativefabrica thank you .i tried the wood today but didnt work ...i dont know what i did wrong ..
Fantastic project. Thanks for sharing your technique.
You are most welcome! 🤗
Thank you. Do you coat it at all?
You do not need to coat the wood when using a laminate sheet! 😊
Thank you ♥️
Do you seal with a clear spray after your done?
You can if you will be putting it outside as an extra layer of protection! 😊
You can actually just tear it apart, works really well.
Thanks Marilyn! I appreciate you stopping by! ---Becky
Can you use two pieces of lamination and overlap them to fit on a bigger circle of wood?
You can, however you may then have a seam in the middle.
Really cute. So the laminate won’t peel up?
Hey Judy! I haven't had any issues with the laminate pulling up from either canvas or wood. Hope this helps! ---Becky
What a great idea. Will have to try this.
It works great on wood and even better on canvas! I'm sure you'll love it too! ---Becky
Do they have to be the thermal ones or can you use regular sheets?
I would recommend the thermal ones. 😊
Yes thermal only
Can you use the rolls of lamination used for large lamination machines?
Yes you can! 😊
Can I paint my wood surface white then apply the laminate sheet then my sublimination print??
Hello! 😊 Yes you should be able to paint the surface white first!
Very nice. Will try it!
Have fun 😍
Hello. Congrats for the video
I'm wonder, what is more durable: Polycrylic or Laminate sheets?
The durability may vary depending on what you're making and what you plan on using it for 🙂
polycrylic on wood doesn't work great. It makes the wood darker as the polycrylic soaks into the wood, and the paper sticks to it since it's not a smooth surface, the paper gets pressed down into the grooves.
Thanks for the video
You're welcome! ❤️ Thank you for watching! 😊
Can you cut the laminating sheet on the Cricut so you can have the exact size to put on 4x4 wood coasters?
Yes you can! 😊
When printing on SG500 what substrate should the printer use? Polyester?
It will depend what you are going to press on. If you are pressing onto wood you could select the MDF as that is a type of wood. 😊
Terrific video!
Thank you for your kind words! What other tutorials would you like to see? 🤩
did you do the picture on a laser or ink jet printer? Great video. Thanks
Hi Bill, thanks for your question and glad that you like it. The picture is printed out on an ink jet printer. Thanks and have fun making this project!
Which brand of heat transfer paper did you use please?

Is there a way to thoroughly remove those wrinkles in the laminate sheet after sublimation phase?
You'll want to make sure your laminate sheet is completely flat and has even heat all the way around the piece you're sublimating. 😊
Will this work on stained wood?
It depends how dark the stain is. Sublimation will not appear on dark colors.
do you have to have a sublimation printer? to print my word design or simple design to get ready with my 1st paint party? I have to do 50 designs on canvas?
For something like this yes, you will want to have a sublimation printer. 😊
Is this hack Bette than using
Poly urethane
This will be personal preference! 😊
Does the laminate stay good
Hey Lesley! The laminate stays very well on the wood and on canvas! The only surface I've heard that it can peel from is tile. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Question …. Could you do the DTF powder sublimation on wood ? Instead of laminate
Yes! That is possible 😊
DTF on wood works great!
Love it!
Thank you for watching! ❤️
WhT specific laminating pouches did you use
All the supply details can be found in the video description 😊
If there are bubbles in the laminate, is it too hot, too long, or not enough?
Great question Cheryl! Bubbles typically mean there is moisture trapped in the wood. To prevent this, you can bake the wood ahead of time to completely dry it out. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Thank you posting about this, I’ve been having the same problem when I do cedar planks and acacia wood
Did you mirror you print?
Hello! 😊 Yes, when working with sublimation you will want to mirror.
👍Thank you
You're welcome! Thank you for watching! What type of crafts would you like to see next? ✂️
@@creativefabrica that’s a good question. While I ponder that I’ll enjoy the content you bring.
My easy press only goes up to 360 degrees max .
Is it because i have an older one ?
Hi! Thanks for reaching out 😊 The Original Cricut EasyPress model allows precise temperature control up to 360°F.
How do you remove the wrinkles out of the lamination??

What thickness laminate sheet
Hello! 😊 You can find the laminating sheets here: www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Thermal-Laminating-Plastic-Laminator/dp/B079KL4C91
My laminate sheet shrunk and bubbled. And the image barely transferred. Does the brand of laminate pouches matter?
Hey Nancy! I don't think so, I've used Scotch brand and Amazon brand, both have worked really well for me. What time and temperature are you using? You might also need to dry out your wood in an oven to remove any excess moisture that may bubble up under the laminate. Hope this helps! ---Becky
@@creativefabrica thanks for the reply. I tied some small wood slices and it owrked fine. So i am sure it was the wood. i will find a different one.
Can you paint the wood the. Do this
I would cut after not before laminating.
Thank you for your tip!
but they are sheets for laminator the ones you put the inserted sheet inside
Hey Sonia! Yes, these are the same sheets you use with a thermal laminator, you just split them apart and only use one side. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Too bad we can see creases in the vinyl...
Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate you! ---Becky
yes and it just cheapens the overall look
The reason there are creases is because she didn't press the lamination sheet long enough before pressing on the sublimation print.
Could you paint your wood before applying the laminate sheet?
Absolutely 👍 For more useful tips on how to sublime on different surfaces, feel free to check out our Classes (www.creativefabrica.com/classes/) and The Artistry blog (www.creativefabrica.com/the-artistry/) ✨
Don't know why but mine did not work 😢
We're sorry to hear this! Could you please share what the exact issue was? Thanks 💚
The image was dull.
I sold my easy press for a clam shell press. And I realize now you can’t do cool things like this with the clam shell. 😭
Hey Mandy! You sure can use your clamshell since you don't need a ton of pressure, you would just hold the top of your wood up against the plate of your press instead of pulling it down. It's tiring on the arms, but still something you can try. Hope this helps! ---Becky
