- *******UPDATE***********
The tablet I use in this video is a 2020 version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.4 inch. It appears this does make a difference. I have learned through subscribers feedback that prior versions do not have GPS. Also this video was made in the UNITED STATES using an android device purchased here. This makes a difference too it seems because other countries have different restrictions and limitations. Thanks to all the feedback from you guys!
That being said.
In this video I share with you how I took a chance and bought a samnsung galaxy tablet to use with my mavic air 2. The internet had me confused. Let me share with you what I did. I could not be happier with m flying experience now that I have bought an Android Tablet. Follow along as i share my first flight using the tablet and screen record. We fly a 452 foot radio tower. Great video thank you for sharing it I'm new to drones and bought mini 2se then found out unless you want to spend over 4 or 5 hundred euro on a phone or ipad the app won't work. I will definitely look into getting Samsung tab
rotate your mount so its holding the tablet side to side instead of top to bottom like you have it that way it will be centered on your controller
yes thank you old video have since given that setup to my sone who flys without issue using tablet I use iPad and mavic pro2 thanks for watching and commenting 😀
Very useful 👌!!! I will do exactly the same! The Samsung A 8.4 2020 is perfect. It's not too big , not small to handle or too heavy. Only one question. Does it has a bright screen for outside? Thanks a lot for the video. It help me a lot.
the screen is bright but you will still have to find shade. The noon time sun can be a problem as with cell phone screens. But with your back to the sun i would rather have a big screen with glare than a small screen with glare lol. It is bright but what can we do. I did buy the crystal sky for my phantom 4 pro v2.0 and that screen is incredible in the sunlight. So perhaps the smart controller would be a good option for the mavic air 2 since it uses oculus instead of wifi the smart controller works with Mavic air 2 and though the screen is not as big as a tablet it should do great in the sun
Respond if you can get your A to work, I couldn't even get either version of the fly app to install
the DJI pad holder is best. It doesn't put weight on the antenna/cell holder.
thanks
Hi thanks for the video , I was originally looking for information on a Samsung tablet to mount on the RC-N1 for my Mavic air 2 and Mini 3 pro and after doing some reading in your feedback realized you are now using an iPad . I do have iPads , a mini 4 and an iPad Air , which version of IPad are you using and do you get any issues with it getting hot and dimming down for you? Thanks I have the same old eyes.
its been a while since i used this set up but while i did I never had any problem with it. I did switch everything over to apple though because honestly its flawless in use no bugs no issues just a really seamless way to go if you can. However I did use this set up without issue hope this helps
The tablet is off-center because you have the orientation wrong. The pgytech grips should be on the top and bottom of the tablet, you have them on the sides. The arm should extend upwards.
yes in my other video it is fixed but either way the cord that came with the mavic air controller would have been much too short. I fixed the orientation and bought nice long cord. thank you for watching and for your input i appreciate it for sure
Good video, the problem with those tablets is that you can't see it when in the sun, I'm looking for a tablet that has 1000 nits
true you have to find a shade spot even when flying my mavic 2 pro or phantom with ipad its tough but there are shades you can make or buy
Buy a tablet shade, no big deal
I use Samsung A7 lite for my dji mini2. It goes a bit jerky when turning either left & right..but not with my smartphone. why is that?
Sigue igual?
Can you use a galaxy s8 with the mavic air 2?
yes you can😀
After trying two different Tab A devices, I just bit the bullet and got an iPad. Twice the cost, half the headaches!
I just got a Samsung A7 10.4 64gb downloaded and installed fly app works great set it up with my air 2 works great
Hot to connect auther fon mins one plus android fon
Maybe I missed it but how much ram does the tablet have? Also this would probably work with the Mavic Miny 2? Thanks!
looks like stock is 2gb
In several replies you state you are now using an iPad. What model iPad are you using and what model drones are you flying with it? Thanks.
Well I use iPad 8th generation and fly mavic 2 pro and the phantom 4 pro v2 hope this helps
I have a djo mavic air 2s and which samsung tablet would you recommend ? looking to get one 10 inches. I dont want to buy an apple tablet, I despise apple products.
I felt the same way but to be honest I ended u buying apple because the functionality and the seamless way everything connects to my iPhone and iPad just couldn’t be beat by android. I bit the bullet and went with apple and am feeling good I did but if android is for you then yes bigger screen is better viewing for sure
I'm getting a table mount in tomorrow my question is I went in to my samsung table in the play store I could nt find the dji fly app. Is there another app I can use to Communicate with my drone thank you
here is a link to a video of mine where we screen recorded the process hope this helps ruclips.net/video/vCBlhv8Obas/видео.html
Is it possible to use an unlocked smartphone or tablet that isn’t dependent on an ISP or phone service provider to use?
I would rather be able to fly a DJI drone without having to deal with a monthly service provider fee.
I honestly don't know ive never tried. I've always just had tablet or bought one if u end up needing to unlock permissions because u are in authorization zones for airspace unless u hot spot to your phone u will to have service
Hello. Can you record the Buffer Cache and record the screen at the same time?
Not sure
What's the numbers to the right of your screen? 1/400. 1/ 600 .an so forth
I don’t know this is an old video
OK. You still using the tablet you mentioned in video? I'm thinking about getting a tablet but kinda skeptical which one to buy.
I purchased the Galaxy Tab A (2019) from Amazon that only allowed the DJI GO app and not the DJI Fly app. I then went to Walmart and purchased another one that was brand new and had the same issue. Can you do a video showing the DJI Fly app on your Galaxy Tab A device?
I will try to do one tomorrow and link you to it okie dokie
ruclips.net/video/vCBlhv8Obas/видео.html sorry for the delay hope this helps
my tablet is the galaxy tab A 8.4 2020 i bought from Tmobile
I'm using the 2019 version right now. What you need to do is update to Android 10, keep updating until it can't go more. Once you do that the DJI Fly app is still not in the play store, you need to go to DJI's website and download it directly. Once you do that it should work however I found HD mode for live video is unusable so I switched to smooth. Also disabling non used apps or removing them also helps a bit. This is on the DJI not approved list because it doesn't have enough RAM. Hope this helps!
@Jean-Pierre Abello Yes, in the end I wound up just spending the money for a Tab S7 which just works, no issues with the video keeping up.
How many GB's of RAM do you need for the DJI apps? Thanks!
not sure sorry
Whats the model number of your 2020 galaxy tab A 8.4?
Thanks,
Rico
sorry for delayed response I do not recall i gave the set up to my son and I fly with iPad now. I do not recall
Ok apparently you don't realize your mounting the tablet incorrectly... its supposed to mount with the Mount up and down not side to side ... thats why it's off center
Yes this video is old but thanks for replying
Do you need wifi to download the app to the tablet? Then what? Do you need a Hotspot from your phone?
i just added service to the tablet I am not sure if you can just do a hotspot. Tablet was useful for laanc and other stuff so i just subscribed to a service plan
did you have to download any apk apps to run dji fly?
all i did was download the DJI fly app and that was it i mean other than some other supporting apps like air maps B4UFLY and LAANC etc but no you can just download from google playstore the dji fly app and i was good to go. i did buy a longer cord which came in the mail today and i love the way i can reposition the tablet and make it centered on the sticks. hope this helps
Would a samsung tab a 2019 8.0 inch work as well?
I honestly don't know...I only know the one I had worked i listed the date of manufacture and model inthe description
I can’t find the DJI fly up in my play store for a Samsung tablet, where do I get it?
I just went to Google play and all I did I was typed dji and the fly app comes up first the silver icon dji fly app
If you want I can screen shot and email you my email is michaeldugger@insightfulimagery.com
If it does not show in google store (common on some apps) download it direct from DJI website.
What's the specifications of the tablet?
I'm not certain I gave the set up to my son I would have to find out
So i went out and bought a Galaxy Tab A and the Play Store doesn't have DJI Fly available??? What's up with that??
I downloaded mine from there if you want message me I will screen shot my tablet and send you the photo im on Instagram at insightful_imagery
@@InsightfulImagery In the process of updating the Tab A i bought. Hopefully that does the trick. Mine does say 2019 version, not 2020.... I hope that's not the issue.
ahh i hope its ok i do have 2020 version i hope it works out for you let me know and thanks for your input too i appreciate it.
@@InsightfulImagery So I had to download the APK version and thus far it works. But the video is choppy It is not smooth at all like it jumps second to second. I'm going to mess with it a little more and if I can't get it to clear up I'll just go back to using my phone again.
@@WitchNTheWorking thank you fornthe input i will add this information in video description i hope it ends up working for you no doubt
what ram is on the tablet is it 2gb ram or 3gb ram
I dont recall I have since given that tablet to my son who flys the mavic pro with that tablet
You know showing a "screen record" shows us literally nothing about the table's screen. Your phone's "screen record" would look exactly the same as this.
not sure what you mean to say. I flew from the tablet to and used screen record to show the ability to connect and fly from the tablet. to show that you could connect the UAS and fly it using the dji app. so I kinda think showing you the screen record did exactly what I intended. unless I am missing something I think I met the goal of the video. you can see the dji menu and functions all on the tablet. you can fly and see the air sense, gps, maps, altitudes etc and that is what the screen record was for. thanks for watching and commenting I appreciate the input
@Jean-Pierre Abello perhaps....i dont know the answer now because i gave that set up to my son and fly the p4p v2 with an ipad. I will say ipad as much as i kicked my feet about using my one they do offer alot more functionality especially if using apps like drone deploy
for those asking about downloading from playstore....here is exactly how I downloaded without issue from Google playstore
ruclips.net/video/vCBlhv8Obas/видео.html
I don't think that tablet has a gps. The ap wasn't keeping track of your position.
I will check next time I use it I was not paying attention perhaps its a setting I have off or something too I will check on that good eye though thanks for pointing it out
actually I watched a video on the tabket and the tab itself has gps if I recall but maybe I have it off inwill check
@@InsightfulImagery would love to get this tablet if it had gps. Do you know what version of the tab a it is like 2019 version? Also is it version 9 android? Thanks. Nice video. Subscribed.
@@411RandomUser just hooked up my drone and yes GPS the version is Samsung galaxy tab A if you want I can email you or text you the photo of the. Box but it has GPS
@@411RandomUser it's 2020 edition
I've been looking at the comments. Try www.dji.com/au/downloads/djiapp/dji-fly for a compatibility list.
My Samsung tab a 10.4 is not compatable with my mini2 😭
It works on mine
@@nicosteenberg..7280 mine is a samsung tablet a 10.1 screen 2016 and it defo does not work it want even load the dji fly app
Took 4 mins just to find out what tablet you bought......
it's in the description too next time perhaps to save 4 big minutes you could find it quicker by checking out the description. thanks for watching....took me 4 minutes to type this message ;)
HOW.... DO.... YOU.... INSTALL... THE.... DJI.... FLY.... APP.... ON.... YOUR.... ANDROID.... TABLET.... It's not on Playstore... You can download an apk file from the DJI site.
SO.... HOW.... DO.... YOU... INSTALL... THE... DJI.... FLY.... APP.... ON.... YOUR.... ANDROID.... TABLET.
Why did you even post this video?
I installed it from play store i cannot speak to why you cannot
ruclips.net/video/vCBlhv8Obas/видео.html
I tried from DJI with no luck
@@llemmon sorry...i supplied the additional video to show everyone that I did it without issue perhaps it cannot be done anymore I dont know. I fly my other drones using ipad. My son still flies this drone in the video with his galaxy tab A tablet though so I am not sure why you are unable. best of luck
