Appreciate the video. It helped answer a couple of questions I had w/ regards to using a $15 thrift store 2017 Fire 10 as a screen on a Mini Pro 3 (spoiler, I don't think it's possible w/ DJI software). With that said, when using apps like Fire Toolbox that are essentially soft mod/root tools, you should always disable OTA updates. OTA stands for Over The Air and is what Amazon uses to push updates to break the things you can use to remove ads from your cheap devices subsidized by ads.
Very nice video with very clear instructions. Nice to know that the 64 bit Fire will run the Fly app. Have you or your dad tried any of the quickshot macros built into the app? Like Dronie, Circle, Spiral, etc. Just wondering how well the Fire7 files the drone in the automatic modes.
Thanks appreciate it. We haven’t tried any of the quick shot macros. I honestly never thought to try them out. I’ll see about filming a follow up with those being tested out 👍💯
I have the Phantom 3 Pro and cannot see my iPhone screen except when indoors... forget it in sunlight. How is this tablet outdoors..? Is "in the shade" required in order to view the screen...? Really like the idea of using this... the size for one will be a BIG improvement, but brightness is also important.... Also, 16Gg storage plenty...?? And... what is this "Without Lockscreen Ads" stuff...??? Appreciate your reply soon.... Thanks..... (76 yr old in Texas)
It’s useable but in my opinion I would prefer it to be brighter. 16g is plenty of storage and the Lock Screen ads are something that Amazon has on these when you purchase them. Using the first toolbox program will give you the option to disable the ads.
Hey thanks for watching, 1. I personally think the brightness could be brighter but it’s still useable. I think a sun shield would be helpful 2. We’ve had no issues with the app. This is my dads drone he has not mentioned any issues and has had a number of flights since he started using the fire tablet.
I have to find my Fire 7 tablet and try this. I didn't know this toolkit existed. I hate all the Amazon bloatware. I had already side loaded the Playstore and Services but i would live to get rid of the Amazon junk apps. It is nice to see that the newer tablet is powerful enough as to not suffer from bad lag. Obviously some of the lag i saw last time i tried this was caused by the BJ bloatware taking up resources. Is the screen bright enough? When my pixel 7 isn't bright enough to see well in sun glare and it gets so hot it'll shutdown. Thanks so much for this great video!
You would have to have the newest version of the fire tablet 7 (2022) as the cpu was upgraded from a 32 bit to 64 bit. The last flight video I posted was my dad using the fire tablet up at his cabin. Seems to be working good with nothing but the dji fly app being used. As for the brightness it is useable but on a very bright day it is a bit on the dark side. Thanks for watching Ryan
@@Van_City I'm not sure which one I have. My mother bought it for me 2 years ago for Christmas so it is likely the 2021 model. That's fine though as I don't need to use it for the DJI Fly app with my mini 2. It would have been nice though.
Has something changed because I just managed to go onto the silk browser and sideload the fly app with no issues and without having to change any settings (other than allow app to install unknown apps), just like on a android phone.
You are correct the device needs to be a 64 bit device. I believe the Fire HD10 only started using a 64bit processor in the 2021 model. Anything older would be a 32bit.
I just bought an Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus 2020, after I checked, even though the chipset can be 64-bit, the Fire OS uses 32-bit. while DJI Fly must use 64-bit. Until now I haven't found a way to custom 64-bit ROM for Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus 2020. If friends here know how, please tell me.
@@Van_City What generation of Amazon Fire Tab 7 and a Fire Tab 10 are you using? I'm sure you are using Fire 7 2022 with Fire OS 8 (like in this video), and Fire HD 10 2021 and above, because basically these devices support 64-bit ABI. and previous generations there was no option to change to 64-bit.
@@Van_City I checked the CPU using AIDA64, it says Mediatek MT8168. Instruction Set : 64-bit ARMv8-A (32-bit Mode) Supported ABIs : armeabi-v7a, armeabi. I followed these instuctions and I managed to get my Mavic mini working Kudos :) 6th September 2024

Absolutely flawless. Works perfectly! Thank you so very much for this. Love it

Good video. Have you ever run into a Parse error when trying to install the dji fly app?
We had to make a few attempts with one I recently did before the app would upload properly
That’s cool, had to hack the play store on my old 5 for the original Mavic Air. Thanks brother for the info
Thanks Donnie appreciate you checking it out 👍💯

how bright is this tablet? I'm thinking of getting this or the RC pro as I need 3rd party app install for my side hustle.
I could be brighter
Very cool how to video Dan!!😁
Thanks Brad appreciate it 👍💯
Thanks for the video.
A couple of questions:
1. How is the brightness?
2. The tablet is lacking GPS, did that affect DJI Fly app usability.
Also, did you have to use a longer cable with stock controller mount arms?
No we were able to use the included cable

Hi there. Don't the tablets/phones need to have an accelerometer and gyroscope to work with drones?
I don’t t believe so. We’ve been using this tablet for nearly a year now with no issues
Very nice great info and demo !! I never knew 😮
Thanks appreciate you checking it out 👍💯
Does it matter if it has 16gb or 32gb storage?
No that shouldn’t matter

I’m not sure. if that works now that would be amazing 👍💯
Yeah, will do a test flight later to double check there are no bugs.
I just tried and am still getting "App not installed" like I was before removing the amazon stuff, but I'm using a Fire 10
Newer version of Fire 10 should work. I’ve used with my Fire 10
Will the new Amazon fire max 11 work???
I just looked at the fire max 11 specs and in theory it should work. The main thing is it has a 64GB ram which is what DJI requires to use their app.
I have in flight video lag using the amazon fire 7 with dji mini 2 se. How do I remove the lag?
I would make sure there’s nothing else running in the background and that the dji app is the only thing running
What version of DJI Fly is this? My Fire HD10 won't allow the app, and my understanding is that it's a 64 bit app that won't run on a 32 bit advice.

does amazon hd 8 plus 2020 work with this?
I just looked up the specs and it does meet the requirements having a 64 bit processor. So yes it should work
@@Van_City thank you 👍🏻👍🏻

I keep getting error app not installed.
Odd, I would suggest trying to offload and reload the app to see if that fixes the issue
@Van_City thanks no luck installs about 3/4 of the way and goes to error.
@@2TrailHikers you followed the steps I reviewed in fire toolbox?
@@Van_City gonna go back through it all again. Thanks
