I just passed today, my 3rd attempt! Just one minor, which during the test I was sure had failed me but no! Thanks for all your help through your many videos Richard!
Well done!! I’ve failed twice now and so scared to do the test again. Only 4 minors each time but the first one said I hadn’t looked left at a junction when I know I did 😢 and in the second one she grabbed the wheel. I was coming up to a line of parked cars and had slowed down and indicated to pass, I was checking the wing mirror to make sure nothing was coming and all of a sudden she had grabbed the wheel and jerked it to the side. I got a huge fright! She said at the end “what happened when I took the wheel? You were looking down!” I absolutely wasn’t looking down, I was checking the wing mirror - so she must have genuinely thought I’d taken my eyes off the road and hadn’t seen the car. So frustrated and now I’m just wondering what’s going to happen next time.
Congrats! How long is the waiting period between the first failed test and the subsequent attempts? Additionally, how challenging is it to secure an appointment for a retest?
I loved when you mentioned at a mini roundabout where the other car did pull to your side without signalling but the instructor still passed the student. In Canterbury the instructors aren't considerate rather they pick one little fault and make it a major to fail people which is demoralizing. Love your content.
I just had my test today afternoon as this video dropped this morning. Huge shoutout to the point where you talked about examiner intervention. On my test, I went from a very crowded side road to a very crowed and covert main road, I got confused and used 20mph, examiner told me it is a 30mph road. I apologise and speed up, he then followed with "this road is a bugger”. Have I not known that examiner’s intervention does not mean I made a serious fault, I would have lost my cool and rushed everything. Instead, thanks to this video, I know examiner sometimes just giving advice and understand there are certain situations on the road that learners are not aware of, i was able to keep my cool and do things at a good time. He took me to a route that was completely new, did two roundabouts, reverse bay parking and went to motorway (even more difficult then my mock test, in mock I only need to follow satnav, in my exam I need to follow road sign myself), I passed my exam first time with 1 minor. Advice I can give is first: do whatever you feel it is safe, second: don’t treat it as a test, treat it just like a 40 minutes driving session where your instructor invite someone to join you for a ride. And finally do not dwell on the mistake you make or you thought you made. It will affect your confidence and most importantly your judgement.
So true. I was in wrong lane on a roundabout so would not be able to use exit I wanted. I thought this mistake itself would mean I've failed so panicked and tried to move lanes. This was a serious fault. I now know that I should have just realised my error and gone back round the roundabout to get the correct lane. Had I done that, I would likely have passed
Just passed now, first time taking the test at the age of 39, with three minors. These videos really really helped me with the psychology behind the driving test itself, as well as some really good practical tips. Clear, concise and engaging content in all videos by someone who obviously has a real passion for both driving and teaching. Thanks a lot/Diolch yn fawr iawn
Really good advice Richard. I wish I had this advice 13 years ago. I was basically given the impression that examiners are looking for reasons to fail you and I'd fall into that trap of obsessing over minor things and then I'd make a bigger error because I was too busy thinking about the thing that probably wasn't even a minor!
just passed first time 2 minors this morning!! just wanted to say massive thank you, your videos saved me when I lost all confidence and motivation to learn!! ❤
I found the thing that worked for me was just reminding myself that all I was doing was driving, and that all the test was was driving for a little bit, and I could drive just fine, so all I had to do was a bit of driving and it was fine. And I passed first time. It was quite funny though, I wasn't nervous at all, just incredibly calm... unlike my instructor, who was obviously agitated. He was more stressed about my test than I was!
This was the last video I watched before my test 1 day ago and I passed. My nerves was all over the place. This video was so helpful. Thank you so much.

Passed today with 20 hours of lessons and 2 minors, just want to say thank you for your videos they have played a massive part in me passing today, thank you!
Hi Richard, having been a Car Driving Instructor for 22 years now, I find your videos Educational, interesting and i think your one of ,if not the best Driving Instructors Currently on You tube with a pleasing and not too opinionated view of the Driving Tuition Business .I don't think even with all my experience teaching would feel confident enough to be in front of the camera,so that just gains even more respect from me.Thanks for all the video's i have seen so far and i will look forward to the next one. regards Chris M.
Great info for learners here. I've been driving for a few years now, took me 3 tests till I passed. My second fail was based around a situation where a car let me turn into a road, as there was traffic and space the other side. He flashed me, I checked mirrors indicated, it was safe. As I turned into the road, a car proceeded to do a three point turn in front of me, causing me to stop. I was given a serious for observations, even though it was safe to move into the lane, and I had checked. The drive home I vented my frustration to my instructor, who presumed I was making something up or did something really wrong... A week later I had my next lesson, I got in the car and my instructor apologised to me, he had watched the dash cam footage from the test, and also agreed that I'd technically done nothing wrong and I'd handled the situation as best as anyone could. He said the examiner was very harsh to fail me for me...
Currently bingeing all your videos, you make me feel very calm and I am so sure I'll pass my test this time round, my confidence was knocked after failing my test last year so i gave up for a while, however, my test is now at the end of january so i will update when I pass 😊
I passed my test today! Thank you so much for all the videos you've posted Richard, they've been unmeasurably helpful to me. I remember my first lesson when I was super anxious about driving, but after all the help from my instructor and from watching your videos, my confidence grew over time :) Thanks!

I had the worst drive of my life on my test - I made 4 minors and passed. My examiner was kind and gave me plenty of notice at turns etc. Believe me, it can be done!
I passed my driving test yesterday first time with no faults. Thank you so much for all of your hard work with these videos. It was very helpful to hear your logical reasoning behind many of the road rules and procedures. Keep up the great work!
I passed a few months ago and found my test was easier than I’d expected and so quick, my mocks were harder. Helped my examiner was so nice and friendly and I’d been so nervous before but was so calm during my test.
During my first test last year my examiner had to use the dual controls to stop when a van pulled out in front of us, and I was sure I failed from that. We continued on with the test after and it all went well right up to the end where I didn’t give way to another car properly, so I failed anyway, but not for the examiner using dual controls! Fortunately I passed a month later on my second try. Your videos absolutely helped and still do to this day, I’m always keen to learn more and keep improving.
You’re videos have been such a help, passed my test first time yesterday with 0 driving faults. Now I don’t technically need them anymore I’m finding them quite comforting. I’ll still be watching. Thank you!
I passed last week on my first attempt with 4 minors! I've been watching for the past few months, and I think your content was a huge help in getting me there!
Hi Richard, I have just passed my driving test a couple of hours ago and just got home, I just wanted to say thank you so much for your videos, they are so so informative and helped me so much. And I Love your humour. Thank you again and I wish you all the best. For anyone who's learning driving or about to take a test, don't get nervous, don't see driving as a task or a strange thing to do, try to make it part of you, and all the rules are based on common sense really. 40 mins drive is much shorter than you think it is, it'll finish before you realise it. If anything happens, just keep calm and carry on!
just passed today my 2nd attempt my leg was shaking terribly on the clutch due to stress but i managed to drive so well (i myself was surprised i usually forget checking mirrors or signaling to bypass an obstacle and i have poor lateral space judgment (or so i thought) BUT i've done nothing of those mistakes ) JUST have confidence in yourself and the training that u've done.
Just passed my driving test yesterday. This video helped me so much with being less nervous and more relaxed. Loved watching your videos whilst learning. Will be watching them still after passing. You learn something new every time whilst driving 😁
Driving is like every other skill it’s hard at first but the more you learn the easier it is remember when you first learned to ride a bike how hard it was to balance and even after you could balance a little bit you was still all over the place it takes time remember this aswell just because you have passed your test does not mean you know how to drive continue learning even after you passed your test and it will be easy
I passed my test today 1st attempt! I wanted to leave a comment on one of your videos but it’s hard to choose 😁 You have way too many that helped me in my learning journey! Thank you for sharing your knowledge, tips and insights, they are GOLD. I really can’t thank you enough! I will definitely keep coming back to your channel!
I just passed my driving test today, 1st attempt and only 6 minor faults! You've really saved me with this video, along with your Driving Test Nerves one! Heck, all your videos have helped me! Thank you so much!
What helped me the most was to watch RUclips videos of the test route in the weeks leading up to the test. This gave me a relaxed mindset as I knew that whatever the people were doing in the video, I could also do, and it wasn't that difficult after all.
I have my test on the 18th January and these videos are by far the best I have seen and have been doing so much revision. Really nervous but these videos are helping a lot.
The point about not giving up is *really* important; During my test, I bumped the kerb when pulling up and fairly early on. I didn't mount the kerb or anything, just small bump. I immediately thought I'd failed, but I didn't give up; I told myself that if I got a "That was perfect aside from that one mistake" then I at least had a consolation prize. I made a couple of errors when I was in the wrong lane on a roundabout but didn't panic and just went round etc. Long story short I actually passed, and on my first attempt, with just two minors, both essentially for being a little late with a signal and the examiner even chuckled about it with me after because I was *absolutely* convinced I bottled it. But I kept going and the examiner said I actually drove really well.
Passed with 4 minors today, take note of everything in this video. The test isn’t as daunting as I thought at all and it felt super short too. Just focus on the job at hand and don’t dwell on any mistakes and you should pass!!
I passed my test first time last week. During that test, my examiner told me to do the reverse bay park manoeuvre. This was at the end of the test btw. So what happened was that I was in between two bays when I first got in. I asked if I could move forward to correct it. She said yes and then warned me that the bay at the end was the hardest to get into. So I took her advice I went forward and reversed to the bay next to the last bay and this time I was perfectly in. She stopped me of course as I was still moving a tiny bit. But the examiner ended up passing me with only 3 minors one of which was for moving forward and correcting the parking. But regardless of that what Richard is saying is correct you should fix your parking until you’re happy with it. It’s better to fix your manoeuvre and get only 1-3 minor marks than to be parked in-between two bays and get an automatic fail.😅
I also passed my test first time last week, congrats man, i watched this guys videos to help me and most of my driver faults were for hesitancy, it's also better to get a minor mark for hesitancy than an automatic fail for moving when you shouldn't
I passed my driving test today, first attempt with only 2 minor faults - This video was undoubtably helpful and im so glad that it came out when it did, as I was quite nervous this morning beforehand. Your videos have been incredibly helpful to me, thank you!
Passed my test first time this week, and I'm pretty sure that binge watching these videos beforehand was a big help! I was so so nervous, and the assessor described my driving as "a bit ropey in places" afterwards, totally due to nerves, but I still did it 😄
I passed my driving test last Monday! Thank you so much for your steering tips and how to stay in lane, which many of my instructors don't seem to understand what's so difficult about it. Have a lovely day ahead!😊
The thumbnails are the golden parts of these videos. Examiner looks thoroughly disgusted, And the driver looks like he's having the most chill time ever

I have my test at the end of January and did a mock test with my instructor last week, I ended up passing with 6 minors 😃I also smashed the parallel park without an issue but the problem I usually have with them is trying to get it done an inch from the kerb perfectly 😅 this is a great video, tests are usually difficult for us because of the amount of pressure we put on ourselves to pass and how much we practice! I went into my Theory a little nervous but calmed down a bit and took my time and ended up getting 49/50 questions correct and passed first time, my hazard perception was a good score, 11 or so points above the pass mark so I was really happy I got it done first time around!
Just wanted to say thank you because I passed my driving test today with five minors and you have helped me out so much and many others as well. I am in shock and so grateful that I passed.💌

Thank you so much, between your videos and my instructor I passed first time this morning 🎉🎉 watched this one this morning before I left. Thanks again! ☺️
You and your instructor are well more aware than the examiners of your driving skill. It took me 8 goes to pass due to my confidence and making silly mistakes. By the 3rd test my instructor told me at that point on lessons we were essentially just driving around rather than learning.
After passing in Oct 2022 and having a year driving, I think one of the first things they should teach you is the technique of pressing the peddles, the clutch leg heel when pressing the clutch should be off the ground and you should touch the peddle with the ball of the foot or thereabouts, the break and gas peddle should be positioned so that you press the peddle a bit further down the foot than the ball of the foot, but not quite centre of the foot, the heel on the floor also, this gives much more precision when pressing both peddles, stops over revving and over breaking, allows more feel. I didn't get this right until a couple of months ago, I was trying to figure out why it was so hard to be precise with the revs, now I can hold it at 1500 revs without a problem, before it should shoot up to 2000+ with just a gentle push,
You are absolutely amazing at explaining thing's. I have a.d.d . Its hard for me to process information. You talk to clearly and explain with clear instruction's. I wish you were my driving instructor.
Seeing this your video yesterday was a sign for me my test will go well today and today I passed first time in Peterborough City! 🎉Thank you so much Richard! I've watched loads of your Your videos and they have always been so helpful. Blessings!
I just want to say a huge thank you to Richard for all the help from his channel. I have been watching all the way through my journey of learning to drive and have managed to pass my test today with 0 minors. I could not have done it without you Richard!
Great advice Richard. Another one of your videos that my students will watch so they don’t have to just take my word for it 😉 Just one note, and I don’t know if it happens in all areas, at 13:00 you mention about knowing you are on the kerb which, I’m presuming, means you will have felt it bump up. Valid point but, at my test centre, they have asked candidates to parallel park at dropped kerbs like driveways etc where you can’t feel the kerb if you got too close so it’s always important to keep an eye on position. Also, with autumn coming, leaves in the gutter can cause the kerb to be difficult to see.
My test is in 3 hours. I’m doing my best to keep cool. It’s scary but it’s doable!

Many thanks
Thanks for this
Just passed now, first time taking the test at the age of 39, with three minors.
Passed my test yesterday with only 4 minors, this video really helped me reduce my nerves. Thank you so much for the amazing content
Passed today with 2 minors. These videos helped so much, thank you! And to everyone still waiting to do their tests, it is no where near as scary as you anticipate, dont psych yourself out!
I watched this video the night before my test - and it really helped to calm my nerves. I ended up passing first time with 5 minors. Thank you thank you thank you!
Passed today with 20 hours of lessons and 2 minors, just want to say thank you for your videos they have played a massive part in me passing today, thank you!
My examiner must have been feeling really generous as I was allowed to re-do my manoeuvre. A very friendly guy
Passed 1st time today, 3 minors. this video and all others helped. God Bless You. !! Good luck everyone you guys got this.
I've got 4 learners going for tests in the next 10 days. Good timing on this video. It's always good to hear the advice other instructors give. 👍
Currently bingeing all your videos, you make me feel very calm and I am so sure I'll pass my test this time round, my confidence was knocked after failing my test last year so i gave up for a while, however, my test is now at the end of january so i will update when I pass 😊
All the best!! I’m sure you can do it!!💪🏼
took me three times to pass mine did it last june don't give up if you fail the first time
should be coming up soon, let us know how it goes!
Did you pass ?
@@microsoft.co.u yes, i passed!
I passed my test today! Thank you so much for all the videos you've posted Richard, they've been unmeasurably helpful to me. I remember my first lesson when I was super anxious about driving, but after all the help from my instructor and from watching your videos, my confidence grew over time :)
Thanks!
Passed 1st time (7 minors)! I watched this before my test and it helped me stay composed, even though my heart was racing! Thanks so much, incredibly useful, informative, and upbeat channel!! Good luck to everyone taking their tests, wasn't nearly as bad as I thought!
Passed my driving test with 2 minors. ❤ this video lessen my anxiety 🎉
Thank you!
Passed 2 days ago, your driving videos have helped me so much over last few months. Appreciate you bro
I passed last week on my first attempt with 4 minors! I've been watching for the past few months, and I think your content was a huge help in getting me there!
That's fantastic news! Thank you for watching and congratulations on passing!
I like the conclusion of this video, the new driver will get better with more practices. The more you drive the better you become
Passed my driving test today. I found your videos really useful, thanks!
just passed today my 2nd attempt my leg was shaking terribly on the clutch due to stress but i managed to drive so well (i myself was surprised i usually forget checking mirrors or signaling to bypass an obstacle and i have poor lateral space judgment (or so i thought) BUT i've done nothing of those mistakes ) JUST have confidence in yourself and the training that u've done.
Congratulations on passing!
Passed my driving test yesterday with 4 minors. Thank you very much @conquerdriving for such useful videos!
This gave me a relaxed mindset as I knew that whatever the people were doing in the video, I could also do, and it wasn't that difficult after all.
how many test routes did you have for your centre? I have around 8 so would you recommend i am comfortable with all them routes?
I have my test on the 18th January and these videos are by far the best I have seen and have been doing so much revision. Really nervous but these videos are helping a lot.
I have mine tomorrow too! I'm so nervous but trying to just think of it as another lesson. Good luck tomorrow!
@@odepoz Best of luck to you as well I hope you smash it.
@@odepoz hey did you pass your driving test? I failed mine unfortunately
How did it go? 😊
@@leahcottle5634 failed first but rebooked for 28th feb and passed 🙂
I passed yesterday 🎉 after 6 years of lessons on and off 3rd time lucky, this video really helped me thankyou 😊
@@slayert0ny744 Ayyy man congrats on passing! Yeah I agree way better to be hesitant than to be moving dangerously.
Congratulations on passing!
Passed with one minor today! Haven’t had an instructor for over 6 months so was definitely down to watching all your videos! Thank you !! 🤩
I passed my driving test today, first attempt with only 2 minor faults - This video was undoubtably helpful and im so glad that it came out when it did, as I was quite nervous this morning beforehand. Your videos have been incredibly helpful to me, thank you!
That's fantastic news! Thank you for watching and congratulations on passing!
I passed my first test with no minors this morning! Thank you so much. This video really helped me calm my nerves
That's great news! Thank you for watching and congratulations on passing!
The thumbnails are the golden parts of these videos. Examiner looks thoroughly disgusted, And the driver looks like he's having the most chill time ever
I passed my test yesterday! It was so fast that 40 mins was over in a blink.. Thank you for all the videos, it really helped me!!
40mins😂Wdym.😮
This has made me confident for my today(28.3.2024).
Just passed my test now at Borehamwood. It was at 8.20am. Thanks for all the videos, massive help.
Richard thank you for these videos. The tips you share have really helped me in my driving lessons. Kudos to you for all the effort you put in the videos!!🎉
I just passed my test first time today with zero driving faults! Your videos really helped me get through it!
To everyone about to take their test, make sure you’re sticking to a healthy sleep schedule, trust the process and don’t put too much pressure on yourself! Go in with a positive mentality and you’ll be happy with the result!
Thanks your calm and well explained videos helped me pass my test on the second try.
I have passed my test with only 5 minor faults. I must say your videos have helped me a lot understand everything clearly and made me feel confident. I would give you credit equally as well as my driving instructor. Thank you so much.
Congrats 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 im gonna also learn but in like 5 years cuz im 13
Just passed my driving test today, watched this before I took the test. Helps a lot!
Found this video last night, wish i found it sooner. Watched it a few times though and its helping my confidence. Got my test later today. Fingers crossed! Will update later
How did it go x
@morganconnelly3147 passed with 6 minors, still happy though 😁😁 anxiety is a big thing with me so I was abit surprised when he said I passed
Got my test next tuesday... this video came out at the perfect time!!
Good luck where’s your test being held? Mines end of Jan too.
@@kay093100 Mine is the end of January as well haha, mines on the 31st January at Wednesbury
Just wanted to say thank you because I passed my driving test today with five minors and you have helped me out so much and many others as well. I am in shock and so grateful that I passed.💌
Passed my test yesterday with the help of your videos, I learn so much from them and I will continue to do so. Thanks a lot!
I just passed my practical test today... Your videos was most helpful, if fact your videos taught me more than my instructor. So thank you for this, you help people more than you can possibly know :)
I passed about 6 weeks ago. Your videos were and are a great help it took me 5 attempts in total. I had my manoeuvre a forward bay park in the test centre car park. I still watch your videos for reference. I used the testi app to get an earlier driving test otherwise I would still be waiting for the end of the Month
Thank you for watching and congratulations on passing!

I've pretty much got the hang of parallel parking and reversing into bay because of you so Thank you very, very much.

Thank you so much, between your videos and my instructor I passed first time this morning 🎉🎉 watched this one this morning before I left. Thanks again! ☺️
That's fantastic news! Thank you for watching and congratulations on passing!
Literally the video I need, have failed twice now only due to nerves and hopefully this helps on third time
You and your instructor are well more aware than the examiners of your driving skill. It took me 8 goes to pass due to my confidence and making silly mistakes. By the 3rd test my instructor told me at that point on lessons we were essentially just driving around rather than learning.
I just passed my test first time with no fault
Your videos really helped me ❤
After passing in Oct 2022 and having a year driving, I think one of the first things they should teach you is the technique of pressing the peddles, the clutch leg heel when pressing the clutch should be off the ground and you should touch the peddle with the ball of the foot or thereabouts, the break and gas peddle should be positioned so that you press the peddle a bit further down the foot than the ball of the foot, but not quite centre of the foot, the heel on the floor also, this gives much more precision when pressing both peddles, stops over revving and over breaking, allows more feel. I didn't get this right until a couple of months ago, I was trying to figure out why it was so hard to be precise with the revs, now I can hold it at 1500 revs without a problem, before it should shoot up to 2000+ with just a gentle push,
This is facts but their is some videos on RUclips that are better explains on how drive better

Great advice Richard. Another one of your videos that my students will watch so they don’t have to just take my word for it 😉
Just one note, and I don’t know if it happens in all areas, at 13:00 you mention about knowing you are on the kerb which, I’m presuming, means you will have felt it bump up.
I have passed my test. Thank you for all your videos.. Thank you🙏🙏🙏🙏
Congratulations on passing!
