What helped me on my test was pretending the Examiner was just a guy who needed a lift who wanted to go a specific route. It sounds weird but it made me calmer for some reason. I listened and did all my box ticking for the test but he was actually good to talk to. Test was over quick and only 4 minors.
@@sportsandtravelling7619 What were my 4 minors? - Control when moving off (because i stalled) - Approach Speed at Junctions (I got to the end of the junction a little too fast) - Observation at Junctions (Same junction, i were a little too fast so i didn't observe in time. Although i did observe and were safe otherwise it would have been a serious) - Positioning (Single road split back into two lanes but i noticed a little late, almost drove over the white line in the middle of them) Basically the minors i got were what even experienced drivers do on a daily basis.
I passed today on my 3rd attempt with 3 minors. Just want to say, for any learners, don’t be demoralised if you fail. It took a lot of patience and many difficult moments for me to pass. Also, passing a driving test can be especially difficult if the roads are not going your way (my 2nd test was in rush hour and super busy). Just make sure you concentrate, always look out for hazards and be familiar with all the tricky junctions in the area. I believe in all of you!
Well done to you Same here , passed on my 3rd attempt ( manual ) My first attempt was in rush school hour too , on second attempt was sure I had passed , unfortunately the examiner failed me for not signaling back after signal gone off itself, the day i Passed I was sure I failed due to hesitation , obviously I didn't and I am so glad , can't imagine dealing with a waiting time for booking the test ( it's been nightmare after Covid in London ) 😊
I failed my third test last week and decided to take a month long break to clear my head a bit (doing so helped me a lot with calming down while i was still taking my lessons) hoping for a successful fourth!
@@ivayiaThat sounds like a good thing to do. There was 5 months between my 2nd and 3rd test in which I wasn’t driving as often and this just made me a calmer driver which really helped.
@@eg-bc8ed i took all three tests with a two week gap between then and by the third i didnt even want to get in the car to be honest 😭😭 a break is needed indeed
Thank you for the tips. I just passed my test today from the first time with 0 faults. To all that are stressed, just to let you know, I am super anxious person. My last days with my instructor were just awful, a lot of serious faults. Everything it's in the mindset , today i was just focused on the road nothing else was important, not negative thoughts nothing. It is amazing feeling, best was to see my instructor with a big smile on his face , he was very proud of me . Honestly he was thinking that i will fail , but i manage to keep my mind on the road and i passed. So to all you guys like me , just try to be calm and focus. I hope I was helpful with this comment. Good luck all !!! You can do it.
Hi. I also have anxiety and I am sitting now waiting to be picked up for my test. I failed my first due to nerves. I feel a little calmer this time but I am trying so hard to centre myself and get rid of these jitters. I might be ok once I'm on the road going to the test centre. I have my own car for motivation but I know I need to just focus at the time in hand. Congrats for passing, wish me luck lol
@@HideawayHan92 Don't Worry, focus on the road only. Don't think it is exam, the instructor already teached u the important things. I know that u can do it, and usually the 2nd time its more easy. Most of my friends failed the first time and still they are great drivers. Just focus and stay calm. Positive thinking, behind the wheel u shoud be calm and the most important thing Just enjoy the driving, deep breaths.
Definitely a comment everyone needs here. Thank You. I also have a exam Soon and I am making some small Mistakes. Please suggest how to mAke or keep us cool. Especially in a roundabout
This is exactly the video I need! I failed my test last week, 2 serious faults - I went into the wrong lane and I almost pulled out in front of someone... Two mistakes I have NEVER done before 😭The nerves got to me, but hopefully next time I'll be able to remain calm. I know I can do this!!!
I failed my first attempt by also ending in the opposite lane. My teacher was quite perplexed cause we've driven that particular road many times. We even drove there an hour before. It was a case of my mind doing a hiccup. My teacher was cool about it. On our way from the test he let me drive, and we took the same route again, so as to get the bad experience out of the system and replace it with a good one. Now it's just a fun story I can tell. Don't beat yourself over the head with it. Carry on and laugh at it later.
This happened to me to weeks ago, failed for the exactly same reasons, but I did it today, different area, a lot calm, i talked myself through the entire test while driving and I passed! it was super calm, no minors
Your advice to not go into the test TRYING NOT TO FAIL was so very helpful. This was the very issue I had. I didn’t want to make ANY mistakes, not even one. This caused me to be so anxious and overthink every maneuver I make. So, on the day of my exam I exactly did what you said. It helped my calm my nerves. And guess what? I passed without any mistakes! Thank you for your help!
Yeah... You will ALWAYS make at least one mistake on a test. I think it's a very rare thing for someone to pass with zero minors. So the best thing is to simply accept that you're Human, like the rest of us, and accept that you will make mistakes. BUT... The trick is to make sure that they're not serious ones. And that, if you know you've just made a mistake, don't let it effect you! Because what you might consider serious, the examiner... So long as they feel safe, might just put it down as a minor!
Had my driving test today and passed first time with 2 minors. I’m honestly riddled with severe anxiety. Had around 3/4 hours of sleep last night, throw up twice and couldn’t even eat anything properly. I had less than half a banana and 2 paracetamol (recommend this btw! But actually have the whole banana 💀) I was certain I wouldn’t pass, but I did. Trust me, if I can do it, you can too! I know you might feel like you can’t or you’re not ready but if your instructor has said you are, then you are. I promise, it’s not as hard or as daunting as you think. If you have your test coming up, I promise you’ll be okay! Pass or fail, you can always redo it. It’s not a ‘be all and end all’ situation. You’ve got this. Believe in yourself, it makes a difference. Best of luck!! ❤️
I am a 66 year old woman who moved to the UK 1 year ago from the USA. For those you feeling anxious, let me assure you that I have been driving for 50 years and even I am nervous about my test in 3 weeks because driving here is completely different than what I am used in the states, and due to all the roundabouts, spiral roundabouts, road markings instead of signs, etc. I feel like it is way more difficult to drive here. That being said, I just tell myself to treat the test as an opportunity to learn what I still need to practice and that if I pass, great, if not, try again. The one thing I miss the most about living here is my independence and not being able to just get in the car by myself. It is really important to me and I know I will achieve that eventually. Watching these videos is so helpful to me and I appreciate them and thank you for the great instructions and insight you provide. Wishing everyone the best in your driving tests!
I watched this video yesterday before my driving test and you helped ease my nerves, so THANK YOU! So happy to say I passed today with 4 minors. Good luck everyone! Edit: ALSO just to add, I have ADHD and I can be a very anxious person - not noticeable in my driving - but very apparent in the leadup to an examination of sorts. So, YOU CAN DO IT!
Apparently the ADHD must've been noticeable in my driving - my examiner made me pull maneuvers that were honestly ridiculous to the point where I felt I was being bullied. I was being limit tested as a new driver. Passed 1st time with 1 minor fault.
Just passed my driving test today with 1 minor! This video was a complete life saver, thank you so much. For anyone who has their test coming up, don’t be nervous. I was panicking and on the verge of throwing up; the first 5 mins are the worst, but after that the test becomes easier. Thanks again for the amazing video!
Passed my test today, 4th attemp(17 Jan), and I've watched your video night before, very helpful!!! Don't tell anyone you going for it !!! You are right! I'm confident but the 1st time I have failed due to bad observation at the end of the test in the test centre. 2&3 time I was very nervous as I've told my family ,fiancee about it, 4th time I went quitly and focused on the now and I was less nervous !!! For all of you trying Don't give up and don't be diissarthened ,failure is part of success!!!!! Thanks again for sharing those great tips !!!!
My own nervousness was attacking in my stomach. It was as if I haven't eaten for the past 3 days. I couldn't sleep then I came across this video early morning yesterday around 4am while my test was 7:23am 25th September 2024. After watching this video and some comments, I opened my bible to philippians 4:13 " I can do all things through Christ who strengthens." I kept ringing it in my mind all through the test. That helped me to get rid of nervousness despite the fact that the examiner took me to a different route I didn't practice in, God still helped me to pass. Thanks everyone for your input
It’s so refreshing hearing a driving instructor saying they didn’t pass first time!! I have my driving test in the summer and I heard my family this week talk about their attempts to pass their tests and it put me at ease ☺️ definitely going to put less pressure on myself for my first test!
@@Henry-fu2hc I agree with you. Failure is not the end, you just have to keep trying. Am proud to say I passed my 4th time and the truth is I still don't have the confidence to drive by myself so I don't.
Watching this the day before my 3rd driving test. I struggle with nerves and tend to be quite tense during the test. Hoping this helps and nice to know you passed 3rd time too! 😌 hopefully be back tomorrow with a positive result 🤞🏻 Update…I passed! 🥰
Just passed about an hour ago with 1 minor. watched this video the night before 4 times. The points you made most definitely gave me the confidence I needed for this test, thank you.
I just watched it & im about to watch again …. My test is tomorrow & im feeling a bit anxious although it the second time & I feel more prepared. I felt so calm as I watched through the first time . This is so helpful 🩷🩷
Passed my test yesterday after the 5th attempt! I only ever failed due to silly mistakes I’d never made until the actual test😭 2 days ago was the first time watching your videos and they really prepared me and calmed down. Thank you!
I failed my driving test 3 times because I was always nervous and felt my driving instructor was giving me wrong information. Decided to do my 4th test with my husband in his car. The night before my test you uploaded this video and I took you advice. Really didn't worry about the test thought I failed like 2 times but thank God I passed. You really gave good advice. Treated my driving test like a drive with my husband.
fellow guitarist here, noticed immediately that you were playing nothing else matters at 8:30. it's kind of crazy to know that my favorite driving instructor and my biggest help when it comes to learning how to drive jams out to the same music that I do. thank you
Officially passed last night on first try! I even had the notoriously pissed off examiner too. But passed regardless. Richard is absolutely right that you’d do more mistakes if you’re stressed than not. Thank you Richard for all the videos of advice and driving. Goat 🐐
This video explains exactly how I feel and is just what I needed. I am absolutely fine driving independently but in lessons/tests I make mistakes because of the fear of being watched. Not many understand how I feel but this but I perfectly. This is a huge help and I feel positive for my next test
Passed my test for the 3rd attempt today With 1 minor Watched this video over and over and couple others I was nervous at the start of it but after 5 mins it was calm Goodluck to everyone who got their test coming up You got this 😊
Listened to this in the morning before my test and it helped, was so nervous shaking like a leaf and have bad anxiety - I passed first time with no minors, thank you!!💜
Staying calm under pressure is really important for all the situations and this video nicely explains the need of it in the driving test. During my test today, I thought I did 3-4 major driver faults but the important thing is I maintained my composure and kept driving like I would after every mistake. In the end, I got like 8 minors and PASSED the test. Thanks again for this great video, I would have ended doing many more mistakes and failed if I had kept thinking about what I thought as majors :)
Thank you so much for this! Watched this a few times before my test yesterday and passed with 3 minors!! My nephew was born 2 hours later at 5:40pm, I'm now a driver and an Uncle :)
Today is my driving test I will definitely take on board all this advice and fingers crossed! Edit: I PASSED with 5 minors I was very nervous but it wasn’t to bad and your videos have helped me so much so thankyou!
I passed my test first time this morning with zero minors! 🎉 I’ve had very stop-start lessons over the past year due to various reasons, but your videos have really helped me with my driving and this video in particular really helped with my nerves 😄 I found that as soon as the test started I didn’t feel nervous anymore because I had to be so alert and focused on the road! Thank you so much!!
I just passed my test a few hours ago after my 5th attempt. I was super nervous and my heart was absolutely racing but this video really helped. Especially the part about making a mistake in the practice run so you don’t do so in the test. I passed with no minors. This video was so reassuring
Richard, your channel has been SO helpful. I just an hour ago passed my test first time, with 1 minor, and I couldn't be more chuffed. This morning I was sick with anxiety - I couldn't eat, couldn't focus, felt like I was going to vomit, but watching this video plus others on your channel really settled my nerves. I was in the position of it being important for me to pass as my partner is heavily pregnant, and the pandemic plus test scarcesness has meant severe delays in me getting a chance to take my test, so I was worried it might be another 6 month delay if I failed. I was also taking the test in my own car, which meant I didn't have an instructor to help calm me before the test, but you filled that role perfectly virtually!
ive had similar experience as you did but my heart rate goes up as well when i get anxious but i learned that if you breathe in fully and exhale for like 8 seconds your heart rate normalizes and i used that few times during the test and it helped me pass significantly
@@joannethilwind3334 yea usualy when was at traffic lights i did this technique few times and just focus myself on what am i doing right now and it did the job for me. good luck tho
Passed my test today on my third attempt. I stumbled across this video on my way to the test and it seriously helped calm my nerves. Thank you! To everyone out there trying to pass, stay calm, stay focused and believe in yourself 🥳
I watched this video this morning today just before my driving test and all of the advice helped me to stay calm and not panic during my exam, Today I just passed my driving test and I owe a part of it to conquer driving youtube channel it has helped me learn things that my driving instructor didn't teach. So grateful this channel is free too!
Failed my first test 2 weeks ago with 2 serious and 15 minor faults. Made 1silly mistake at the start of the test because of the nerves and it snowballed from there. Thank you for this video and I hope I pass my test on April 6, 2022. Edit: I passed my test today at April 6,2022 with 5 minors!
Watched this a few times before my test today and I passed with 3 minors!!! I had the worst practice with my instructor beforehand but all the tips in this kept me calm during my test. Good luck to whoever has a test coming up. You can do it!
Today I had an exam and it was my second one. I watched this vid and bro I PASSED EVERY THING U SAID WAS SO HELPFUL. From not thinking too much into a future nor past all the way to concentrate on the present and to calm yourself because it's not like u are driving for the instructor, your re doing this for yourself. THANK YOU SO SO MUCH I CANT WAIT TO CELEBRATE IT WITH MY FAMILY
Failed my test for the 4th time today. I am devastated. Hopefully I can gather myself and give it another go. Thank you for the video. Watched after I came back. Should have watched it before
I have my test in 3 days, and I failed my last one due to having a panic attack. My instructor was shocked he knew my driving standards were much higher. So I've been looking at every video I can find for advice I think this is the one. I will use your advice this week.
Would have loved this video a month ago, but I passed my test anyways thankfully. There is so much truth to the "screw it" mentality of whether or not passing is critical. If failing is not a big deal, then you will have better focus on the driving. I went in with very low expectations having had my driving instructor unintentionally kill all my confidence, she got sick before my exam, so I had my warmup with another one who helped me understand some weaknesses I was having that day like mirror checking. It put me at ease knowing what my weaknesses were going in. My examiner was nice enough, making a few jokes before we went and asked me if I preferred small talk or silence while driving, I prefer not having to focus on talking while I'm driving so it was a quiet ride which helped me out a lot. I remember thinking I had failed at a relatively early stage in my exam, and I found it quite freeing actually. I relaxed a lot and just focused on what I was doing, I didn't get hung up on errors like I had previously because in my mind it didn't really matter because I would have to book another test so I just treated it like practice. Gotta say I was quite shocked to learn I had passed.
I have my driving test in 2 days, and after watching this video I feel alot better about going into it! I suffer from social anxiety so I’m naturally a very anxious person, but I have a feeling these tips will help big time! :)
I have my FOURTH test in a weeks time.. was feeling a bit hopeless at this point but your video really helped, especially how you said you got fed up with feeling anxious! Update: Passed 5th try!!!!!!
The bit where you said we often have a mentality of “I want to pass first time” but then realising “no one cares if you past first time” is so true and made me actually really feel chill about that and not worrying if I maybe need another shot at my test if I failed. It’s no one’s business.
I passed my driving test today, 1st attempted! Would like to say massive thank you to you, I have been watching your videos religiously and it’s really helped me out a lot! My instructor was amazing, and the combo with your really well explained videos did the magic for it today! I was stressed, of course, but managed my parallel park (without the first minutes of the test) and that boosted my confidence. Everything went really good. I am so happy! Thank youuuuu for all your amazing videos 🥰 xx
Just wanted to say a massive thanks for this video and the rest of your content, Richard. They really helped me conquer (no pun intended) my driving nerves and were often more informative and reassuring than my actual lessons! Passed on my first attempt with 4 minors last week and owe a lot of credit to this channel's advice on both the technical and psychological aspects.
That's fantastic to hear and that pun was why I came up with the name Conquer Driving. Thank you for your generosity and I hope you continue to find the videos interesting.
I am not sure you will ever read this, but thank you❤️ I was trying to pass the test for 2 years, I took 7 attempts, the 8th was the one! I took your advice on not trying to please the examinator, and it called me down significantly! Thank you, I cried like a baby when I finally got the licence😆
I am 31 years young and just recently passed my test at the second attempt! Anxiety was a big factor in why I left it so late to learn. Videos like this one have helped me immensely. Thank you so much Richard! You should feel really proud of your channel and the countless people who have passed their test and become better drivers thanks to you. 865 videos and 149 million views is an incredible body of work! Thank you for continuing to share your passion with us ❤
Passed my test yesterday first try after just 13 hours of driving lessons- busy work schedule etc. This particular video was really helpful- watched several times and honestly I remembered everything you said during the test. I drove rather than worrying about not making mistakes. I also did not tell anyone I had a driving test coming up and everyone was happy when I told them I had passed.Thank you so much for the videos. You are an amazing driving instructor and teacher.
This channel is amazing. I spent the last four days watching several of your videos and today I passed my test at the first attempt with only three minors. I had a great instructor, and I have to give him credit, but I really believe these videos pushed me over the line. Keep up the great work, Richard.
This video saved me this week. Nerves would have definitely got to me in my test today without your tips and the story of you not passing twice. Passed with three minors. Thank you!!
Passed my drivers test today here in Aus!! All this is in no small part thanks to your brilliant advice on this channel Richard, and I’m very grateful! Thanks a bunch :)
Test nerves were the most challenging thing for me as I completely panicked in my first test back in April, watched this video before my test yesterday and I passed!!! The examiner yesterday made me feel a lot more comfortable and your advice definitely helped!!!
I passed my test today! Your videos have honestly been such a help for my driving journey so thanks a lot 🎉 I was so nervous this morning before my test it was a horrible feeling but I took into account what you said in this video and the test was a breeze. It went by so quick and my examiner was lovely and we had a nice chat! I passed with 6 minor faults!
I remember watching this video last week the night before my test. Thank you very much, Richard. I had my test at Bolton in the morning and it was my second attempt. I passed with 2 driving faults. Your videos are just so amazing. Thanks again and keep creating more for super nervous people like me! May your channel continue to shine and grow!!!
From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you for this video. I had my (Dutch) driving exam today and was incredibly anxious the previous night and this morning. I watched it several times in the morning and it helped me relax a little. I passed with only one fault and it was by far the best drive of my life. Your other videos related to driving confidently also helped me a lot during my lessons. The internet is wonderful place at times.
Hello! I have been watching your videos whilst preparing for my test and they were such a huge huge help! Very clear explanations and demonstrations, it really helped me for the big day. I passed first time with 2 minors on 22 April and just want to say a massive massive thank you for all you do! All the best ❤️
I passed yesterday on the second attempt, with 4 minors - definitely think I failed the first time due to test nerves getting the better of me. I was still nervous the second time around but definitely felt more comfortable. The examiner was really chatty and nice. Put me at ease straight away when he chatted away about his family, asked about mine, talked about the areas we live in - he led the topics of conversation which made it better for me too as I get very socially anxious with new people and that could have made me more prone to make a mistake on the day. So very grateful I got a friendly examiner. And of course, couldn’t have done it without my mother in law coming out driving with me day after day for practice, I had a few instructor lessons prior to test day. And these videos helped me with my nerves and mindset before taking the test. I felt so discouraged when I failed the first time, but please keep going and just keep trying. Your effort, time and hard work pay off eventually.
I watched this video a day before my driving test on loop while I was just freaking out. I passed today and I cannot thank you enough for all your videos.
I just passed my driving test today with two minors, in big part thanks to your videos! I wasn't able to find an instructor who had availability so I learned with my very patient partner and through watching your videos. As an American who has been driving for 12 years and needed to learn the rules of the UK and switch to driving manual, every piece of advice from you was so helpful. Thanks so much, Richard, you helped me in gaining both skill and confidence!
I watched this video yesterday and today I got passed my driving test. As he said, I followed his words. Forget about the past or future. Be at the present. This is it. You can do it. I was chanting this in my mind. 😂 Thank you so much mate. 👍
Thank you soooo much for all the videos you are uploading it helps me a lot during my lessons. I passed my practical test today with 2 minors by remembering most of your tips! Thank you
Thank you mate, I just passed on my 3rd try, just like you. Your lighthearted and quirky way really lifted my mood and gave me a moral and self confidence boost for the test today! Thank you very much! What helped me was that I read a book just before starting the test
I learnt to drive for 2 years. Today I passed first time with 5 minors. I even failed my mock test a week before with 7 significants. I was in shock. The nerves before the test were HORRIBLE. But 5 minutes in just focus on the road and do not think of the outcome!!!! Been told you have passed is the most unbelievable feeling in the world. ❤
Just passed my test and wow its feels amazing! This video really helped me to calm down and focus on my test allowing me to pass. For those that are worrying, its really not as bad as you think! It was over in a blink of an eye, so don't worry about it. Just drive and pretend your examiner is just another instructor or just some random guy/girl your driving around. You've got this!
brilliant advice, it's inspiring and relieving to hear such a fantastic driver and teacher actually passed on his third attempt, really drives home the point that driving is a skill we all learn over time with effort and aren't born with. Your videos are a godsend and an absolute service to the driving public. Thank you so much for all that you do!
A brilliant video, you described my driving test experience 48 years ago. Three tests, one mistake on 1st, terrible 2nd and gave up on third but still passed. Been driving ever since with a clean licence. Best £80 I ever spent and that was a lot of money back in the seventies.
Hi! I've been watching a lot of your videos on the run up to my test and they've all been really helpful, especially this one as I felt really nervous about taking my test! I took my test this morning and passed first time with zero faults, and I'm sure your videos were a major reason that I passed so I just wanted to say a big thank you! After my initial nerves, my driving this morning actually felt really natural and in a strange way I sort of enjoyed it! To those taking their test soon, remember that you don't have to be perfect, as long as you are safe and legal then you are more than likely to pass. My best piece of advice is to trust your instincts, take it steady and if you're not sure about something slow down or even stop. In another of this channel's videos, he said to remind yourself that you are a chauffeur, not a taxi - try to be as smooth as possible even if it means you're not the fastest. So if you can, try and get a bit of driving in before the test, take a few deep breaths before you begin and just focus on being safe, even if it means you have to wait an extra five minutes at a busy junction! Good luck to those taking their tests in the future, you can do it!😊
I agree with this video wholeheartedly. I finally passed my driving test today after several failed attempts. I was actually shaking a little at the start of the test today. I initiated some chat with the examiner to try to calm my nerves down. Watching your videos have helped me tremendously. They are well thought out and most articulated. Thank you!
Tips in this video are absolutely solid. I personally only had a little sort of mild feel of anxiety on my warm up drive plus me and my instructor have been pulled over by the police on the day of my test :D (just a regular check thing tho). My experience (disclaimer - this is is not a tip) : When it came to a start of my test I just switched off myself in terms of nerves or thinking too much in the way that I just drove the best I could with an approach that I don't want to repeat this thing again. Passed it with a 4 minors last week. P.S. I know every person is different, but this is what worked for me :) Good luck !
Just passed on second attempt today, after watching your several of your videos, which really helped me calm down s they answered lots of my random specific questions.
I know sometimes you’re probably used to hearing “don’t be nervous” but it’s actually so true. Worrying about something before doing it makes you worry about it two times: 1. Anxiety before doing it and 2. Anxiety while doing it. I was so nervous for my drivers test, which you have to understand is a very normal thing, you are not alone. When i started driving my anxiety completely left me because i was too focused on the road and i ended up passing the test. You will do great, just make sure to eat a good meal and take deep breaths. You got this!!
@@stainlessvisuals890 I did. I bought my car around a year before my test so I could practice. Thought that was the better thing to do considering the nature of how hard it was to get tests etc. Also you can build your no claims bonus on learners insurance, most people don’t know that.
I gave this another look before my 2nd try at my final exam and i actually passed! honestly, this channel has helped me a lot and probably saved me from another fail, even though my country has different traffic laws to the UK, you have helped me a lot with things like mindset, what to look for and of course, stay calm I can definitively tell you, knowing how to control your nerves helps so much its amazing My examiner was very nice and honestly, chatting with her while driving helped a lot with keeping my blood pressure at a natural level, though this of course depends on how your examiner is, but im very happy i got someone who pretty much just pretended to be a normal passanger I remember driving out of the parking lot i could already feel my head cooking, but the moment we got something to talk about, it just felt like any other driving lesson Im just really happy right now haha
I passed my test today with 1 minor. Thank you so much for all your in-depth videos. I struggled so much with approach speed for some reason but watched your video on that subject and gained better understanding. This video I’m commenting on in particular was the last one I watched before I took my test today and helped me calm my nerves! Thank you SOOOOO much!
Hi I just wanted to say thank you for all the videos you make. I just passed my test a few weeks ago and your videos played a big part in it. Keep up the great content and I hope other learners find your channel too :)
Writing this a couple of hours after I passed my test earlier today. My second attempt and with six minors. This was the last video I watched before my test this morning. I can’t thank you enough Richard for this channel, it’s been an extraordinary help. I thought I had failed mid test due to some silly errors creeping in but to anyone sitting their test, if you make a mistake try to put it behind you and keep going because in the heat of a test situation you just don’t know. Whether it is today or another day, you will get there!
Passed on the third attempt yesterday! The first two fails were definitely due to nerves, i didn't tell a single soul about my third test and went about my day as normal, i also took rescue remedy which really helped with anxiety! Just wanted to thank you Richard as these videos definitely played a part in me passing, keep it up!
I’m watching this 20 days before my test, I’m so excited and super confident that I’ll pass but I still watch all your videos they are extremely useful and I’m certain I’ll still be watching them after I pass!😃
Another great video Richard thank you. I passed my driving test in Ireland last week (second attempt, two months later). You've been so helpful with all your help and tips. Thank you again. Keep up the great work.
I don't remember if it was on this video or another one (I practically watched your whole channel) that the examiner just want you to drive safely and legally. That was what I needed to ease my nerves. I passed with 3 minor faults, and remembering that phrase really helped me throughout the test.
I passed today with the same mindset as you. After failing so many times, today I went for my test with the whole I dont care what you guys think.. i KNOW myself i can drive. It helped me drive the way I wanted to (safely), not the way i thought THEY want me to. This helped me focus more on the road and not the examiner.
This is such a great video. My third test is coming up this week and I’m the same as you, got much more anxious as I wasn’t nervous at all on the first test, perfect drive but failed for something silly which I still argue should have been a minor fault💔 and second test my nerves totally took over and had a really tutty and judgy examiner. Hoping third times a charm, i don’t think anything can be as bad as my last test so can only go up from here!
I’m in a similar situation however my first test was awful, my second test I thought I had passed, as it was the smoothest drive I had ever done. Got back and it was a fail. Now I have my third coming up and I can’t stop worrying about failing. It’s the wait times for tests that make it hard for me!
Passed today with my 2nd attempt with 3 minors 🙂 Please keep on doing your videos, they have helped me loads with how clearly you explain things without making it feel boring. Thank you !
Thank you for sharing your story. I’m about to take my third test and it being the third one i already feel like a failure. Hearing that driving instructor’s themselves haven’t passed the first time put me at ease. Thank you.
You’re not a failure for not passing. A lot of people don’t, and that’s perfectly okay. It doesn’t mean you’re bad at driving in any way. Just make sure to get a good nights sleep before your test, I’d highly recommend having a banana and paracetamol and just stay calm. It’s easier said than done but trust me, if you believe in yourself, it makes a difference! Talk to your instructor before your test and they’ll give you some advice and reassurance as you’re not the only one to feel nervous. I promise, you’ll be okay! Don’t put pressure on yourself to pass. If you do, amazing! If not, it’s okay. You can do it again. Best of luck! ☺️
Watched my fare share of videos leading up to my test but the night before I was panicking really bad and needed something to calm me down and THIS video made me look at it different and calmed me right down so thank you so much it really helped, I passed first time as well, again thank you so much!!!!😁😊
What helped me on my test was pretending the Examiner was just a guy who needed a lift who wanted to go a specific route. It sounds weird but it made me calmer for some reason. I listened and did all my box ticking for the test but he was actually good to talk to. Test was over quick and only 4 minors.
Thanks for this! Might try this for my 3rd test.... my nerve was killing me.
Tomorrow is my second day of driving I’ll use this as help 👍
What are the minors? Is emerging or approaching mistake a minor or serious?
@@sportsandtravelling7619 What were my 4 minors?
- Control when moving off (because i stalled)
- Approach Speed at Junctions (I got to the end of the junction a little too fast)
- Observation at Junctions (Same junction, i were a little too fast so i didn't observe in time. Although i did observe and were safe otherwise it would have been a serious)
- Positioning (Single road split back into two lanes but i noticed a little late, almost drove over the white line in the middle of them)
Basically the minors i got were what even experienced drivers do on a daily basis.
@@sportsandtravelling7619 Also to your second question, it depends on how much of a danger you are when you make that mistake.
That hilarious knife chase skit alone banished my anxiety for a moment
I passed today on my 3rd attempt with 3 minors. Just want to say, for any learners, don’t be demoralised if you fail. It took a lot of patience and many difficult moments for me to pass. Also, passing a driving test can be especially difficult if the roads are not going your way (my 2nd test was in rush hour and super busy). Just make sure you concentrate, always look out for hazards and be familiar with all the tricky junctions in the area. I believe in all of you!
Well done to you Same here , passed on my 3rd attempt ( manual ) My first attempt was in rush school hour too , on second attempt was sure I had passed , unfortunately the examiner failed me for not signaling back after signal gone off itself, the day i
Passed I was sure I failed due to hesitation , obviously I didn't and I am so glad , can't imagine dealing with a waiting time for booking the test ( it's been nightmare after Covid in London ) 😊
Got my third test tomorrow. 8:10 rush hour.
That's great to hear. Thank you for watching and congratulations on passing!
Thank You. I also have a exam

Mistakes. Please suggest how to mAke or keep us cool. Especially in a roundabout
@@HideawayHan92 you pass?
This is exactly the video I need! I failed my test last week, 2 serious faults - I went into the wrong lane and I almost pulled out in front of someone... Two mistakes I have NEVER done before 😭The nerves got to me, but hopefully next time I'll be able to remain calm. I know I can do this!!!
I'm sorry to hear that, try not to let it bring you down and stay positive for next time.
I almost passed last week but failed because of nerves too :/
I failed my first attempt by also ending in the opposite lane.
Best of luck to you in the future
Wow, what an achievement! Congratulations!
Too bad my brain doesn't work like that.
I PASSED FIRST TIME TODAY WITH ZERO MINOR FAULTS!!!!!
Good job I’m so proud of you!!!!!!!
congratulations! i'm doing mine in 2 weeks, i'm not confident about it so that's why i am here 😅
Got any tips?
How did you go with your test?@@aimemari
This is me and just a mock test today. God knows how I’ll go next week. I’m so upset.
That's fantastic news! Thank you for watching and congratulations on passing!
That's great news! Thank you for watching and congratulations on passing!
After watching this video and some comments, I opened my bible to philippians 4:13 " I can do all things through Christ who strengthens."
I kept ringing it in my mind all through the test.
So true. It's depressing seeing everyone say I passed first time no minors🥺. Like seriously where are the people who failed a few times.

That's really great to hear, congratulations on passing!
ive had similar experience as you did but my heart rate goes up as well when i get anxious but i learned that if you breathe in fully and exhale for like 8 seconds your heart rate normalizes and i used that few times during the test and it helped me pass significantly

I watched this video yesterday and today I got passed my driving test. As he said, I followed his words. Forget about the past or future. Be at the present. This is it. You can do it. I was chanting this in my mind. 😂 Thank you so much mate. 👍
That's really great to hear! Thank you for watching and congratulations on passing!
Good luck to those taking their tests in the future, you can do it!😊
Thanks, i failed first time but passed second time around. Useful tips :)
I got this! Don’t let some stranger make you feel uncomfortable 🤘🏼
Thank you!
That's really great to hear, congratulations on passing!
i love how you got someone to chase you. 10/10 for effort
Got my license last week. Your videos have been super helpful in understanding different technicalities of driving. Thanks a lot mate!
That's great to hear, congratulations on passing!
Passed my driving test on Thursday. Only had about 8 lessons and the rest was your videos. Thanks so much 🙏🏽🥳
That's great to hear, congratulations on passing!
Did you drive with family aswell?
@@stainlessvisuals890 I did. I bought my car around a year before my test so I could practice. Thought that was the better thing to do considering the nature of how hard it was to get tests etc. Also you can build your no claims bonus on learners insurance, most people don’t know that.
@@mal6201 wow that makes a lot of sense thank you for the information.
I gave this another look before my 2nd try at my final exam and i actually passed! honestly, this channel has helped me a lot and probably saved me from another fail, even though my country has different traffic laws to the UK, you have helped me a lot with things like mindset, what to look for and of course, stay calm
I can definitively tell you, knowing how to control your nerves helps so much its amazing
My examiner was very nice and honestly, chatting with her while driving helped a lot with keeping my blood pressure at a natural level, though this of course depends on how your examiner is, but im very happy i got someone who pretty much just pretended to be a normal passanger
I remember driving out of the parking lot i could already feel my head cooking, but the moment we got something to talk about, it just felt like any other driving lesson
Im just really happy right now haha
This helped me calm a lot before my test today, and I passed with only 2 minors! Thank you!!
That's great to hear! Thank you for watching and congratulations on passing!
That's great to hear, thank you!
That's great to hear, congratulations on passing your driving test!
I’m watching this 20 days before my test, I’m so excited and super confident that I’ll pass but I still watch all your videos they are extremely useful and I’m certain I’ll still be watching them after I pass!😃
Did you pass?
@@pencilsketches5556 nah unfortunately my instructor left it until 1 day before my test to tell me that he’s not taking me to test🤷🏼♂️
Another great video Richard thank you. I passed my driving test in Ireland last week (second attempt, two months later). You've been so helpful with all your help and tips. Thank you again. Keep up the great work.
That's great news! Thank you for watching and congratulations on passing!
I don't remember if it was on this video or another one (I practically watched your whole channel) that the examiner just want you to drive safely and legally. That was what I needed to ease my nerves. I passed with 3 minor faults, and remembering that phrase really helped me throughout the test.
This video was super helpful. Got my test on Friday 8th December (which will be my 3rd attempt).
This comment makes me feel better I failed my test again today so hopefully next year I can pass.
Good luck with your next test!
I’m in a similar situation however my first test was awful, my second test I thought I had passed, as it was the smoothest drive I had ever done. Got back and it was a fail. Now I have my third coming up and I can’t stop worrying about failing. It’s the wait times for tests that make it hard for me!
@@amylynch8774 Don't give up you will pass soon ❤️🦋 I believe in you be optimistic :) Im also doing my driving licence for a long time...
Passed my test with 4 minors faults , nerves were there but I calmed down n did all that I had learned n watched 🎉
Passed today with my 2nd attempt with 3 minors 🙂 Please keep on doing your videos, they have helped me loads with how clearly you explain things without making it feel boring. Thank you !
That's fantastic news! Congratulations on passing!
This will be my 4th time coming up next week.... Wish me luck on monday! Thank you for your help and stories made me feel a bit better! ✌️
I passed with 3 minors today, this was the last video I watched at home because I was so nervous 🤓 thank you so much for your videos!
Congratulations!
Passed first time today with big time nerves! You’re literally a lifesaver👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
That's great news, congratulations on passing!
Driving test tomorrow and am currently extremely nervous! video couldn't have come at a better time. thank you
Good luck!
You can do it!!

Just passed a driving test and I’d like to thankyou so much for the clear instructions ❤️
Watched my fare share of videos leading up to my test but the night before I was panicking really bad and needed something to calm me down and THIS video made me look at it different and calmed me right down so thank you so much it really helped, I passed first time as well, again thank you so much!!!!😁😊
That's fantastic to hear, congratulations on passing!
