So only these vegetables? To this I will say that some vegetables are such that, like potatoes for example, they remain for fifteen days, though they are not good during rainy season, during these times of lockdown, we may keep them handy and eat a little 2-4 teaspoons of this vegetable. Now chilies, avoid eating too much chilies in rainy season, they aren’t good for health, so those used to eating very spicy food please reduce very much. And people like me who anyway eat very little chilly, need to just avoid totally in this season. Chilly is not good during the rainy season. Bell pepper or capsicum, they are hollow from inside and are very much Vata increasing, and are to be avoided in rainy season. Now people add besan(chickpea) flour and make stuffed capsicum, this is an absolute no in rainy season.
In fruits, this is star fruit, it is very good, it is a bit sour and thus tasty and one can eat this fruit. Sweet lime - mosambis are good, apple, and pomegranate all these are good to eat. And this is petha - ash gourd/white pumpkin this is very good in this season. Sweet Barfi is made from this petha, petha can be cooked as a vegetable. One can cut pieces of this pumpkin and dry them in the sun by adding a little salt and spices, this can be nicely used in the rainy season.
Ash gourd, is very healthy to eat. You can make sweet barfi from it, vegetables are made from it. You cut it into small pieces, let it dry in the sun with some spices and salt and use it in the monsoons.
    So these vegetables are good.
Now the spices that are there here. Here is Garcinia indica or Kokum, I have spoken about this before, it's called Amrut Kokum. As a food product this is at number one to reduce pitta. Not necessarily in the monsoons but you can take one or two pieces of it, soak it in water, then remove it and add suga and salt and it can be taken as a refreshing drink. It tastes very good.
    This is coconut.
This is ginger. For ginger I always like to say one thing. Ginger should be dense like this not watery. You get very poor quality of ginger locally sometimes if the earth is not good enough. This is really good ginger, if you smell it a little, it should give a nice strong fragrance.
This is turmeric, Asafoetida, Cumin seeds, black pepper, these are good in the monsoon
And in the green spices are coriander, mint leaves and curry leaves.
This is very good. Now a days, abroad you get powdered form of curry leaves which is very expensive and people relish it.
The main thing is that if our digestion will be good, our immunity will also remain good. And now we need very strong immunity, if we don't follow these dietary advice, it will affect our immunity badly. If we get a slight cold or cough, then not just during this pandemic but even general flu can be troublesome. This year especially one must be very careful. Therefore, at the onset of the monsoon season I wanted to share with everyone and request everyone to be very strict with their diet.
I understand that sometimes you want to make a gravy or make pulao and add cauliflower to it, so just add a few pieces. If you get some fragrance from it, that should be enough. Don't eat too much cauliflower. Don't make stuff potato bread-parathas but you can eat a little potato. Surely, eat these vegetables I have spoken of and you will be fine.
And like I mentioned earlier, for the elderly for them this rice is good. You can grind it and cook it in 14 times water then strain it and add a seasoning of ghee and cumin seeds and kokum. You can garnish it with coriander leaves. Cumin seeds are most important. You can eat the cooked rice with this seasoning.
Please take care, these days are very sensitive this year. But you can watch this video again next year and take necessary precautions.
Those who are able to maintain their health during the monsoons, they remain very healthy and strong throughout the year.
Even after doing all this, if you still fall ill…because if people would follow rules and maintain discipline there wouldn’t be such crowds outside in the time of such a pandemic.
We keep on living against rules, we shouldn’t but what to do. In the next video I will explain what to do if someone falls sick because they did not maintain the disciplines and rules.
