Although I try to make my Lore videos as accurate to the Lore as possible. Sometimes errors slip in. Here are some corrections (spoiler warning) #1. [36:56] Ferrus Manus is technically speaking not the first Primarch to have died, considering the lost Primarch's of the 2nd and 11th legions. However in the context of the Heresy, and from an in-world perspective many would consider Ferrus the first. #2. [43:34] I correctly mention 9 remaining loyalist legions but the list on screen only shows 8. The Dark Angels are missing, but then again in 40k their allegiance is dubious lol If you notice anything else I will put it on the list.
Yea the Dark Angels are most definitely Loyal, The Lion is the ONE Primarch the Emperor knew with absolute certainty would not turn traitor. And the Fallen were led to believe they had been betrayed when Luther misled them. So yea, you just forgot, their loyalty was never in question by more than a few High Class Zealots who didn't know where the Lion was or what he had been doing during The Heresy.
@@regioammiraglio7500 Have you forgotten about the Burning of Prospero? This was mentioned when he told of what the Space Wolves were up to at the time of the Dropsite Massacre. Horus didn't want the sons of Russ involved in the Isstvan system and risk having the entire 6th Legion thwart his greater plans. So, he was content to let all of the Emperor's wolves be distracted to the relatively distant galactic southeast of Isstvan, in the Prospero system, to deal with Magnus and the 15th Legion - and in so doing, keep his path to Holy Terra open. Plus, Leman's path back to his Father was blocked by warp storms - he had no idea what was happening in Isstvan or about to happen on Terra, and would be too far away to do anything about any of it even if he received word and rushed to the Emperor's aid. Had Russ not gone to Prospero (and subsequently been stranded on the far side of a warp storm), he would have gone straight to Terra and probably ended up fighting Horus on the Vengeful Spirit - possibly dying - but also possibly changing the tide of battle and also causing enough of a delay to give Sanguinius a real opportunity to actually defeat Horus and give Dorn enough time to come to his brother's and father's aid. Poor Magnus - used by his brother, the Warmaster, as nothing more than tasty bait for a pack of wild dogs.
"Ugh. It's the Dropsite Massacre all over again. All we require now is the flayed, silvered skull of our brother Ferrus. Radiating his entirely earned disgust at us." "YOU ARE WEEEEAK, CORVUS!" "I am aware, Ferrus. Thank you."
The whole Galaxy shall tremble and shudder for the coming war will burn and spill such blood that the very memory of such slaughter and death will forever leave its scar for all eternity.
These Videos finaly visualize the Horus Heresy, wich helps a lot for understanding it. I watched so many lore videos about it and still it is kinda much to wrap your head around. Great work!
37:12 Not mentioned here is that almost as soon as Ferrus was dead a swarm of traitors descended upon his body and started carving it apart to collect gristly trophies (and most likely also for the supremely rare experience of ingesting the flesh and blood of a primarch.) One of his hands was retrieved by a member of the Iron hands, who was able to escape with it. The fate of the other hand is largely unknown, although a dark apostle of the Word Bearers turned one of it's fingers into a knife blade. Once the butchery was complete, the primarch's mutilated carcass was affixed to a banner pole and raised high above the carnage amidst the bodies of his murdered sons. Pict captures of this bloody effigy were broadcast by the traitors on all frequencies in a bid to further demoralize the defeated loyalists an drive the Iron Hands into self destructive rage.
I'm and IH player, and this still makes me boil, seethe and mald. The fact that no traitor primarch met an end sufficiently humiliating and gruesome to avenge that. God I hope Ferrus returns (again) as head of the Legion of the Damned and fucking slaps either him or the cunt Perturabo in the most humiliating way possible at some point in the future lore.
It gets mentioned in Deathfire (where the fingerknife is an important plot element) and Old Earth (where the hand that was retrieved is an important plot point.) I may have embellished the wording somewhat but it is explicitly stated that Ferrus's body was quote "...maimed. Cut apart, a rotting corpse raised up as an effigy." (Yes I did get my copy of Old Earth off the shelf to see if I was remembering correctly. that extract is from page 219 incidentally.)@@RFL1
I know a lot of people come to these videos so they don't have to read the books or listen to the audio books but by the emperor you must read or listen to them! they are absolutely fantastic, the first years of the heresy are some of the most pivotal and important lore dumps you could possibly want. Absolutely worth it.
To my understanding of some other accounts of the Ferrus and Fulgrim fight. Fulgrim and Ferrus made those weapons in a little competition but traded afterwards, finding that the fireblade better suited Fulgrim's swift and stylish fighting style while the forgebreaker better suited Ferrus' fighting style. however, Fulgrim never used the fireblade on Ferrus as he had found a corrupt sword on some xeno world that had slowly corrupted him before and during the horus heresy. which is a shame because we don't get the poetic "Ferrus died at the hand of the brother he was closest with and with the sword he made for him" but at this point i think Fulgrim was very attached to that corrupted sword.
correct. Some additional info is that during their first duel on Ferrus flagship (when Fulgrim tried to sway Ferrus) he broke Firesblade with his bare hands. When Fulgrim left he took forgebreaker with him and Ferrus reforged the broken fireblade
What I absolutely love about the Horus Heresy is how intriguing the whole event and its precursors are. For example, The SM Legions and their respective Primarchs. Your "average" SM is pictured/believed to be this nigh-immortal, incorruptible, super human, genetically superior, cold, calculating, and noble demigods. Imagine a Primarch who is essentially a SM on steroids plus plus. The duel between Ferrus and Fulgrim woke up some innate quirk within both loyalist & traitors alike - the fact that they are still essentially humans - who are prone to hubris, emotions, arrogance, and ultimately for Fulgrim, corruptible.
