  • A 3D visualization of a Codex Compliant Space Marine Chapter of the Second Founding. Create your own force in Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader store.steampowered.com/app/21...
    [Part 2 • True Size of a Space M... ]
    In this Warhammer 40k video we bring to life a Space Marine Chapter by using the Ultramarines as our model for the army. We begin with the general history of the Space Marines from the Horus Heresy to the Second Founding and how the Codex Astartes came to be. The documentary then discusses Space Marine creation from the recruit to the aspirant and the neophyte with a Marine's transformative implantation of the Gene Seed organs. We then trace the elevation of a new Space Marine Battle Brother through the ranks of the Ultramarines starting from the 10th Scout Company and up through the ranks of the 9th through 6th Reserve Companies. In part 2 we will continue this journey of ascendance within the Ultramarine Chapter by looking at the 5th through 2nd Battle Companies, the Veteran Company, and the Command Staff of a Space Marine Chapter.
    Let us know what you think of this format and what documentaries in the Warhammer 40,000 universe you would like to see us cover next.

      They did make one video about Ogryns a year ago and they've done fantasy a lot. Honestly I prefer they keep this channel historical and move the fantasy stuff to a new channel like what Kings & Generals did for Wizards & Warriors if they plan to do even more down the line.
      Btw just kinda think coverage on 40k and stuff is already at a high and historical units and forgotten wars are more interesting is all, plus these true army scale videos too.

      @@Awoken-seeker920 The Ultramarines had the most Astartes by the end of the heresy. However over the coming Millennia numbers have swelled again leading to more chapters being created while others have been lost in their entirety.
      Officially the Imperium operates 1,000 chapters however most agree this is a low balled number. Often due to the Administratum’s oversight and the insane tyranny of distance of the galaxy information can some times take centuries to reach holy terra, if at all.
      This is all a round about way of saying GW wrote the lore in such a way that you can always claim your own custom chapter canonically exists.

    • @colinbielat8558
      @colinbielat8558 5 месяцев назад +21

      Actually, it was probably closer to around 70 to 80 chapters, since according to the apocrypha of skaros, the ultramarines created the most chapters at 23, with a 24th being the orginal ultramarines We know the salamanders did not split their legion, and the spacewolves were only able to split into two chapters. Most of the legions at the siege created 4 chapters whereas the blood angels created 6 new chapters, however it's possible they might have been smaller than a codex chapter as the flesh tearers were only given a single battle barge so they may have been around 600 astartes. The dark angels created 5 new chapters, iron hands created 2 new chapters, raven guard created 3 new chapters and then of the known chapters 4 have unknown progenitors giving us around 52 known new second founding chapters, with 9 first founding "chapters" giving a total of 61 or 62 counting the grey knights, with leeway for players to create their own so around 70 to 80 would be a good estimate.

    Fun Fact: The 3rd Edition Space Marines codex had the entire Ultramarines chapter modeled and arrayed on tabletop in a colour photo in the inside front cover, framing the photo was a breakdown of all the units listed and included the names of every Company Captain at that time. For GW a Imperial Guard Regiment is more a collection of soldiers that a standar formation like a space marine chapter.

      They usually arrive at different times and since the space Marines travel separately it takes a big battle where many forces meet up on one world for a campaign to get them working together.

      Space Marine are the Mega Elite mobile strike force (i.e just like the Marines of the US army, hence the name) that moves around the Galaxy meeting the MOST urgent threats the Imperium faces.

    Honestly an amazing job done, whilst it’s easy to pull random numbers out of a hat or have little diagrams, it’s far far more impressed when you see the actual scale of just how large a single space marine chapter and even then, many people might never see a space marine in their entire lives, and again people fail to understand or even respect or even fear at just how powerful a space marine truly is, considering that an entire hive city on Armageddon was held by one command squad and two other squads of black templars who whilst yes were all cut down to a man and were supported by titans, the fact remains that only thirty or so marines were able to fend off an ork invasion all on their own and again that’s not to diminish the heroisms of the titan pilots as well as the countless men and women in the guard and militia forces who gave their lives to defend their homes and city, but the fact of the matter remains, hellsreach wasn’t even considered a proper hive city, it was large yes, but most of its infrastructure was geared towards shipping and refining materials, not a full on invasion like a dedicated hive city ie hades hive and even then its walls were not even walls but a concrete fence to keep the elements out and a few anti aircraft guns to keep some of the larger pests away and yet despite the fact that over half of the hive was completely destroyed, the imperials still won the battle no less and again people forget that before the Horus heresy the space marines were considered the standard form of infantry, imagine an entire army of halo Spartans or Terran marines, all of them fully armed and equipped, along side entire legions of titans and knights In support as well as having access to far more powerful and devastating weapons compared to what the imperium already possess 😂

  • @CMTechnica
    @CMTechnica 5 месяцев назад +12

    Space Marine squads are 10 men strong by default, regardless of company or role until you reach heavily specialized units like Eliminators or Centurions. They can break into 5 man units, but that’s only temporary and not part of the formal organization structure.
    Lieutenants are part of the Captain’s command structure, and his command squad has an *assigned* Apothecary and Chaplain. They’re not there by default, because within a chapter, the Apothecaries, Chaplains, and Librarians are a different internal entity. And that command squad is usually (at least in compliant chapters) made up of the 1st Squad of the company. 1st Squads are veteran squads, that sergeant is next in line for leadership of the company, be it as a Lt or as the future Captain himself.

      Space Marines are special forces, used for surgical strikes, special missions and objectives. The vast majority of the Imperium's army is made up by the Imperial Guard, who are standard-issue humies.
      Having said that, unofficially, there are Chapters of Space Marines that circumvent these limited unit sizes. Black Templars and Space Wolves do this. Unit limitations were imposed after a galaxy-spanning civil war, brought about by huge legions of Space Marines fighting each other.

    • @khinzaw77
      @khinzaw77 5 месяцев назад

      The Imperium spans roughly a million worlds. There are about 1000 chapters with about 1000 marines each, some more, some less. So there's about 1 space marine per planet in the Imperium. Most of the Imperium is not expected to be defended by Space Marines, they are expected to be defended by local Planetary Defense Forces and the Astra Militarum. Space Marines are elite shock troops that are deployed specifically to the most extreme warzones. Additionally, there are many other elite forces such as the Adepta Sororitas, Mechanicus forces from Skitarii to Titans, Imperial Knights, etc... that help fill in the gaps that can't be covered by the Space Marines.

They do call upon their successor chapters often so function more like a large chapter, but the chapter itself is not by any means non-compliant.
